Staying at the Chen whilst my husband was in hospital nearby was a most enjoyable treat for me. When returning for a second stay, being greeted by a very caring receptionist, then finding fresh flowers & some little gifts & a handwritten note in my room, was an unexpected delight. I have stayed in many hotels in my life, but never have I had such thoughtfulness.

On site café didn't open until 7.30 am. We needed to leave by 7 am, so no breakfast. Obviously you don't cater to busy business executives. Cleaning of room was basic only. Previous stay at an Art House hotel rooms were presented more professionally. ? is this because hotel now owned by Mantra

Helpful. Friendly staff. Did notice the wall in betroom on bathroom has had something spilled and hasn't been cleaned.

It's like a second home, it is conveniently located with comfortable bed and friendly staff. Missing a soap dish in the shower but that did not matter. Housekeeping didn't have to change my towels as I hung my towel on the towel rail but they did which was fine. Coffee and tea could have been replenished in a neater manner but that's just me being fussy. Always had a good sleep and always looking forward to come back.

Overall it was good but this was the first hotel (3-4 star?) that wasn't as clean as I thought it would be . The beds were made but not very well, one morning after returning from outings the soap and shower gel I had left on the shower floor was still there along with a few lingering fuzzballs ( floor seemed to be not vacuumed properly). Positives were the room had a really nice ambience and was well thought out.

Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Rooms modern and lovely. Bathroom not much room to move. Kids disappointed the heated pool was broken.

Always a pleasure. Staff are FANTASTIC. However, the windows should be cleaned and the outside shutters should all work. Close proximity to all that Box Hill offers. Love the bedding. Love the art.

Enjoyed the view from top floor at the pools area, enjoyed the lounge where I was able to connect PS4 for my kids. Clean rooms and accessible to very tasty restaurants in the area. Close to supermarkets.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and well-made rooms. But, wifi down for three days solid (with no compensation allowed), and rooms have some downsides, such as a fridge so full of product (and no pricing visible) that I needed to remove several bottles to fit a sandwich in it, no very comfortable chairs, and the hole (for opening/closing) the shower door would result in a puddle on the floor every single shower.

This was the second stay in your hotel. The first stay was around 1.2018 which was a satisfactory stay. This time we booked a deluxe suite (without balcony) and was allocated a room in 5th floor, facing the Whitehorse road. The traffic was heavy there which caused disturbing noise. So we requested to change to a more quiet room. The reception replied that they could arrange an "upgrade" offer to a deluxe suite (with balcony) in 4th floor for AUS$ 30/night which should be of the same rates as our old one and the surcharge was a bit unreasonable. But we accepted that because we stayed in a similar deluxe suite (with balcony) in 6th floor in 1.2018 which faced the Nelson's street and experienced less noise. To our disappointment, the new room , despite of a lower floor, was unlikely to be an "upgrade" because the room size was the same and we were disturbed by the exhaust air smelling from the restaurant down below during our stay. Secondly, the housekeeping staff should be more careful to check the necessary items in the room. We needed to remind the reception to refill the tea bags (not filled for 2 days) and the facial tissue. Also, some of the housekeeping staff did not greet the customers even face to face. Thirdly, on the day of checking out, we requested the reception lady to book a taxi to the airport for us. She did it and said it should be available very soon. However, we had waited for over 30 min in the concierge, during which we had repeatedly asked her to prompt the taxi call centre but she gave faulty replies and gave false assurance to us that the taxi would arrive soon. Finally, we had to walk for a long distance with two heavy luggages and our elder parents to the Boxhill station to get a taxi. In conclusion, your customer services and the hotel ventilation need expedite enhancement.

I was really pleased with the accomodation at The Chen. Neat, comfortable and clean. · The Location of The Chen was perfect. Close to supermarket, cafes and shopping. The cafe that was in the complex of The Chen was lovely. Cake and coffee was perfect. The staff in the cafe were fast, efficient and friendly. · The Golden Lily Resturant in the complex of The Chen. We booked into the Golden Lily as we had a birthday to celebrate. Everything we ordered from the menu was not available and the waiter Paul was extremely pushy, arrogant and rude. In the end we paid for the drinks we ordered and walked out. I certainly won't be recommending the Golden Lily Restaurant at all. The remote for the TV didn't work and the telephone in the room was not working to contact reception. Minor details.

Dear Team, I am writing to you today in utter disgust at what I found in my room during my recent stay 1-2 October 2019 Ref. HRCLGSPT. The bathroom floor was FULL of black hairs - I have all this on photos if you require. I am still crawling with disgust imaging what I stepped on the carpeted floor....yuuuk! How about the housekeeping wear hair nets as is required ? So here I am wtiting to you hoping you will deal with the matter swiftly  and resolve the situation satisfactorily.
