Disappointing start.

I recd an email from you shortly before my visit to Brisbane. It asked me what time I would be arriving at the Sebel Margate. I phoned from Melbourne and advised Reception that i would be there approx 10.00 am. I actually arrived at 9.23 am and was informed no check in before 2.00pm. I was told the GM would be contacted to see if I could access my room early. At 10.55am I was told " the cleaning staff are completing the finishing touches to your room." At 11.30am I rang my son in Clontarf to say come and get me, I am still waiting in Reception for my room. What annoyed me most is hard to say. The timeframes provided from arrival to getting into my room were too long. A staff member (Jacob) told me that the hotel was not near full capacity the previous night. WHY then cannot a guest who is arriving before 2.00pm and has advised you accordingly, be allocated a room that was empty the previous night ? Feel free to contact me if any of this is unclear.

A lovely modern, well equiped room with a fabulous view. The hotel is right on the waterfront and our room overlooked the boardwalk. The staff were exceptional and the restaurant downstairs very good. A great stay and we would be happy to return.

The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Location is in a great spot close with the beach just across the road and the main town a short walk or drive away. Would stay here again.
