« BEAUTIFUL NEW HOTEL AND GREAT LOCATION BUT THEIR INHOUSE SYSTEMS NEED REVIEWING »

This hotel is in a great location within the Redcliffe area and the rooms are beautifully decorated. I had a room with a double bed and a single bed and the room was very spacious. I was surprised that the room included a small kitchenette with microwave that was well stocked with plates, cups, glasses, etc. The cons for this hotel is that the parking provided is tandem but most people parked in the front which meant if the carpark was full you couldn't get to the spare park behind. Also, if you did park behind someone Reception do not take your keys to shift the vehicle should the other vehicle wish to get out, so you were left wondering at what time of the day/night you were going to receive a call to shift your vehicle - this is not satisfactory. Over the weekend was the main problem, so in this instance I chose to park the vehicle on the street. During the week parking was not a problem. I was told on check-in that they were looking at putting a valet person in place. This definitely needs to be looked at as the current setup is not feasible. The other negative was I added the $1 breakfast for my stay as I had experienced this at the Sebel in Perth and it was a very good deal which included a full buffet breakfast so assumed it would be the same at Sebel Margate. This is not the case and if you have pre-booked the add-on of a $1 breakfast it is a separate menu to their normal breakfast menu with 3 items only available to you which includes a glass of orange juice. The staff in the restaurant need some major training as there was absolutely no consistency, and at times we waited around and were totally ignored - it doesn't take much to acknowledge that you are standing there waiting and say, we will be with you in a moment, but this never happened. There was also no set procedure regarding our breakfast package and each morning it was handled differently. Only one morning did they have a list of room numbers who had pre-booked breakfast and my room was crossed off, on the other mornings, depending which staff member was on at the time, I had to explain what I had pre-purchased, etc. so that I didn't end up with extras added to my bill.

A short stay in the popular Sebel Margate, many diners, drinkers at the new venue. Rooms were very good, clean and quiet. Car park is difficult, bad design. Staff helpful and courteous. Would definitely stay again.

Enough has been written about the obvious great location, no need to repeat all this. We really enjoyed our stay at The Sebel & it could easily become a favourite for a mini break. I have Accor platinum membership & all the benefits were honoured, which was appreciated. At some Accor properties you almost have to go ‘cap in hand’ to ask for your welcome drink voucher. We booked a deluxe king ocean front & were given a corner room with big balcony, a fruit platter was delivered to the room. It’s good to see the bar & café/restaurant open all day. We had dinner there three nights & enjoyed every one. Good variety on the menu, from mains, snacks, things to share etc.There are a few peculiarities about this room which I’d like to point out. The king bedroom itself was really spacious, however, the bathroom by comparison was tiny. There was no vanity space to speak of so I had to put my toiletries on the kitchenette bench outside. The hand basin was miniscule, the tap spout high, you can’t bend over to the sink to rinse your mouth without hitting your head on the mirror, the depth (from vanity front edge to the wall) would be 30cm at most. Water splashes everywhere, including over the toilet roll. I don’t know who designed this set up, but they obviously have never done a road test on it. On the plus side, the big shower recess is perfect. I suggest someone in management takes their toothbrush to work one day & tries this bathroom out for themselves. I did look in another room which was being cleaned next door & it has a bigger bathroom with a normal vanity & basin, much better than ours.The leather sofa may look very cool but it’s so low you’re nearly sitting on the floor. The television is hung high on the wall & on an angle so you can’t watch it from the sofa anyway. Does everyone just watch TV in bed nowadays??The work desk is more like a hall table in my opinion, just as miniscule in depth as the bathroom vanity. Okay for a laptop but you can’t spread a newspaper out.These are just our negatives on this particular corner room. In no way will it impact our decision to return to the Sebel, I’d just request a non-corner room. In all other regards we cannot recommend the hotel highly enough. Friendly, young & accommodating staff all round. We look forward to going back. Unfortunately, our next Accor mini break at Pt Macquarie was already booked & paid & cannot be cancelled, otherwise we’d be back to Margate Beach before Christmas.

Very new and comfortable. Nicely furnished and decor, lovely. Plenty of room to 'swing a cat'!!Staff just lovely and obliging.Pillow menu was so very much appreciated. Had just what we needed!A nice sized hotel!
