We stayed for a week at the Fairmont in Sirru Fen Fushi on a family holiday and had a wonderful time. The accommodation, food, service, and facilities were top class and staff were warm, welcoming and very professional. Nothing was too much to accommodate our requests and especially the way they looked after our 5 year old son. Our first time to the Maldives and the Fairmont made it a dream holiday!

On purchasing a luxury escape holiday at the Fairmont I was not surprised by the great accomodation but was flabbergasted with the price of alcohol. Thank goodness we had a butler (Emma) as you need some kind of transport to the restaurants etc. Emma also responded to any of our needs promptly. Some of the other guests weren’t as lucky with their butlers and if everyone was paying rack rate that would be a worry.

Great team of locals. Special mention to SK in the Bar and Mahoudy in the gym. Both of these guys excelled by going above and beyond expectation. The restaurant team were also very good. Remy, Sham,Rose,Torch, Hawwa and Anoosha. Couple of suggestions to make the holiday more enjoyable. 1. You need a better "Daily Activities" plan and have it better displayed. We were keen to have a game of volleyball or the like and nothing was advertised as being arranged. (Tennis was down as only once per week and we were unaware there was tennis coach on the island until the Friday tournament which was our last day- again poorly displayed) 2. We probably thought some of the management let the resort down. We thought the engagement was a bit flimsy. 3. I know its a Fairmont Resort, but we did feel as though we were being "fleeced" whenever we had to pay for something. a) Spa treatments at $300 I would call excessive. I would of had a massage 5 of the 7 days if it had been slightly more affordable.- b) You did have a Charges for certain fitness sessions. - No one was turning up for any of them. The "Stretch sessions" were popular so I would suggest look at this. Mahoody was exceptional BTW. He offered to give a personal 15 min stretch session with each of us at different time we were at the gym and they were SO GOOD. c) Alcohol (Wine as well as in room mini bar) was over the top. (We didn't skimp as I think we had a bill for $4500 each couple, but we would have probably had a few extra bottles of wine or Gin and Tonics in the room of an afternoon if the price had been slightly more realistic).

We were set to enjoy 10 nights at this resort and left after 1 night. This is our 4th holiday to the Maldives staying at our 6th resort. We understood that we were coming during the soft opening so we were not expecting perfection. But there were so many problems from the outset. 1) The shower crept beyond its barrier and ran into the centre of the bathroom. 2) It was clear that the villa had been finished off in a hurry with poor bathroom tiling, toilet cistern not finished against the wall etc. 3) We came as a family and we had nowhere to sit together outside under shelter in our villa. 4) No bikes to ride to our daily meals, bar etc. 5) The meals were well presented but under delivered in quality. 6) Music in the main bar was way to loud (even for our 20+yo kids). The bar furniture was already looking shabby. 7) TV turned itself on at 6am giving us a hell of a fright. 8) The light switching in the bedroom needs reconfiguring. Little choice, either all on or mostly all off. 9) The sand around the overwater villa pools looked clean and white in the social media photographs, but ours looked dirty and grey. 10) It was extremely sad to see the water sculpture being removed whilst we were there. That was to be a highlight for our visit. We had been following its creation on social media. We have stayed at a large range of resorts in the Maldives ranging from 3 to 5 stars. All of them were up to an extremely high standard and we couldn't wait to return again. It's very disappointing when the photographs of the resort promised the 'wow factor' and then under delivered in reality. Please fine tune your resort. The competition is growing every year and you're resort is now competing with some very high standards in the Maldives. We said goodbye to many thousands of dollars, which was a difficult decision to make at the time. But we just could not have had the experience we were after with what you offered. Good luck.

We loved it. Coulndt have asked for more for our honeymoon. The staff were amazing. The island itself is incredible. Exploring the house reef and diving were highlights with some incredible experiences - Drifting with sea turtles, watching reef sharks and a huge marble sting ray, not to mention all the beautiful fish. We will never forget the 7 nights at the Fairmont Maldives.

The staff was the best of any resort I have ever stayed. From the moment we arrived in Male we were taken care of by a staff person from that Fairmont until we went through security at departure. What a comfort it was. Havis and Mauviz was the best. They met every need or desire we had. Would highly recommend going there again.

I have sent in an email testimonial to the hotel direct. Additional things to add on for improvement. 1. In room villa dining extension is always engaged. I can never get through that Dial 3. The only way I can get my room dining is to call reception to order on my behalf. 2. I arrived at the airport at 11am. Waited in the airport for 2 hours. Got on the seaplane, stopover 2 stops before finally getting to destination. That is exhausting. I understand this is not the hotel's fault but alot of time is wasted at the airport and the stopovers. Hopefully something can be done. 3. I had quite a few drinks in Kata for dinner and ordered Moet Chanson and only managed to have 1 bottle of 375ml. Wanted more but ran out of stock.

There were some issues with our flight check in from Male but the young man there who helped us was wonderful about it and made us feel quite calm. The seas are a little rough for the speedboat, especially in the afternoon. I am not sure how you determine who takes a sea plane, but the boat to Hanimaadoo was a bit far in that sea. Overall experience on the island was second to none. Emma was fantastic and the housekeeping staff were wonderful. All the F&B staff were pleasant and accommodating, Jeffrey remembering our coffees and SK with his cocktail mixing was always a night surprise. I can’t say enough nice things about the staff.

It is a beautiful hotel. I had some issues with getting a hot shower and there were some service issues. Some suggestions: - Please talk to room service. You ask for something and they never come back. Or you age a decade just waiting for wine/water. I just started buying my own drinks at the bar and taking them to the room so I wouldn’t have to deal with them. -More premium tv channels/movies - Yoga classes

While the resort is truly stunning, there are a number of aspects that need to be improved for it to be a high quality Maldives experience. Communication was a major issue, having had no word on our transport we had to reach out to the resort days before our flight, notification should be sent to guests that flights will be notified on arrival if that is the case. Communication with our butler was also an issue, on many occasions we requested things and they were forgotten, the result in one case was that we missed out on dining at the other restaurants on the island, which I was not impressed about. Finally, many resorts provide a special dinner in a secluded location for those couples on their honeymoon, a special table at the same buffet as every other evening does not amount to a 'special dinner', so I would likely recommend somewhere else for honeymoons.

Overall very relaxing, great gym and gym staff were amazing. Butler changed and second butler was significantly better. Buffet great selection but specialty restaurants need work- set menus not acceptable in a 5star resort and the food wasn't that great(specialty restaurants only). Lunch became monotonous - not enough variety as it was the same as the room service menu.
