Came on a Secret Escapes deal so had no real idea what to expect. The location is stunning, the staff very friendly and the resort kept to a very high standard. The sea plane was a good experience and the transfers effortless despite not really having enough detail on how it would all work when we set out. I think more could be made of the activities - fishing and diving were excellent. We were let down on a yoga class and generally I think a little more effort and perhaps lower pricing would encourage more. I like the idea of local art being on permanent display to make the resort even less clinical. With low occupancy it lost buzz but gained in intimacy. I would recommend the Fairmont to anyone

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Sirru Fen Fushi. The over-water villas were expansive, as was the gigantic bed, lovely infinity pool and huge copper bathtub within. The rooms were comfortable and nicely decorated, but lacked the level of detail and finish some may expect. The resort itself looked great, and the main pool was stunning. When not in the restaurant or lazing by the pool, we spent a good deal of time enjoying the various fitness classes, water sports and gym facilities on offer. So this was definitely a highlight for us. Being half-board, we were worried we'd get bored of the food. However the staff did a good job of mixing up the offerings, so we only started to sag the last few days of our 12 night stay (which I think it pretty good going). The staff were universally lovely. Especially Razzan and Ibbe. We were excited by the butler service, having stayed at a St Regis property with similar offering before. However there was some confusion over what the service was, with half the staff referring to them as butlers and the other half as villa hosts. In reality they were the latter, and unlike the St Regis, were mostly there to ferry guests around the resort, arrange bookings and up-sell activities. There were a few teething problems during our stay. As a relatively newly acquired property, there was still some building work going on, which cut through the peace and quiet somewhat. For instance the last 15 minutes of our couples massage had a backing track of heavy earth moving equipment, which slightly broke the charm. Also, some facilities like the Suana, Steam Room and Jacuzzi weren't yet in operation. That being said, the staff at the hotel did their upmost to work around these challenges, and we noticed considerable improvements over the two weeks we were there. Fortunately these were all small niggles, and will almost certainly be ironed out by the end of their first season. All in all we had a lovely, relaxing time, and would be happy to recommend it to a certain type of traveler. Possibly slightly older, or more conservative couples or families. However we felt the hotel lacked a clear identity and wasn't entirely sure who their target market were. As a result we'd probably choose somewhere with a little more style, confidence and swagger next time around.

The bicycles are on the way to be delivered to the island but the delivery has been delayed due to the procedure at the customs. We are expecting to receive the bicycles in early December. We enjoyed the time in fairmont with lots of natural marine animals around. The weather was nice during our stay and the Butler Liya is always considerate on our staying experience. Our 3 nights at Fairmont were memorable. We throughly enjoyed the world class hospitality that was offered to us. We were just disappointed that underwater museum was no longer available to us (due to circumstances that is beyond Fairmont's control)... as the museum was the deciding why we chose Fairmont over other hotels in Maldives. Nevertheless, it was a wonderful experience. The staff and facilities were awesome and we will consider visiting other Fairmont hotels in the world in the future.

The location and facilities are supreme, but what really made our stay were the friendly and warm staff we met. Our experience exceeded our expectations. We have travelled a lot and stayed in many 5star hotels and resorts. We can say without doubt this is at the top of our list. We would have no hesitation staying here again. In the weeks leading up to our stay, we found the communication from the Fairmont very good and proactive. They arranged the seaplane and pick up form our hotel. the whole process was seamless. The response to any emails I sent leading up to our stay was same day and very helpful and efficient. We were impressed. From the moment we arrived by seaplane (which we absolutely recommend), our experience commenced. A welcome drink at the dock, greeted by Jan and other members of the team, then driven straight to our overwater villa by our butler Mahil for and early check-in at 9.30am, that was provided for us without having to request it. Check-in was done in our room with a minimum of fuss. Mahil then gave us an orientation drive around the island. As far as service what we can say is it is exceptional in all areas; Mahil our butler gave us exceptional service and was very proactive and helpful. Mahil thanks for taking such good care of us during our stay! Mohumed Ali our room attendant did a great job and was very engaged and always smiling. You did a great job Mohamed. There are too many names to mention or remember, so our apologies to those we have not mentioned. Ibbe (senior) in the Raha Market your service was fantastic (loved our discussions), and Muzna and Rose at meal times your service and helpfulness were exceptional. Thank you both very much. The food at Raha Market was wide and varied and very high standard. There was too much to choose from and the quality was outstanding. Everyday the fresh baked bread, pastries and deserts were too good. The food catered to every taste. Cocktails at sunset at Onu Bar on the beach were fantastic. Thanks SK and Thilan, you made the Happy Hours a great experience. And those sunsets - wow!! Barry, we loved our chats with you too. Mahundy at the fitness centre, thanks so much for your advice and great service. The island beautiful, the beaches beautiful, the reef and snorkelling fantastic. The service and food exceptional. The staff, warm friendly, very interactive and engaging, but not in your face. The whole experience was super. Right up to being personally escorted by a Fairmont staff member (sorry I forgot your name) to priority check-in at Male airport, for our flight back home. Enough said, we would definitely come back. We had the most beautiful, relaxing honeymoon at Fairmont. All the staff were just so welcoming and hospitable. We loved the amazing Grand water villa. The villa was always cleaned perfectly all the time. Our butler Mahil was always happy, responsive and helped us with whatever we wanted to do daily. He was wonderful. Barry the catering manager was great to chat to everyday at breakfast. My husband will miss him, they had their hugs goodbye when we left. The only small feedback is the toiletries all smell rather masculine. The prices of drinks and snacks in the room were extremely overpriced. Even though we could afford it, it was more then triple the prices.

We absolutely loved our stay. The staff were very professional and ensured that our stay was issue free. From the moment we arrived at the airport we were greeted from someone from the resort that was able to direct us and organise transfers. All activities were well thought out and the rooms were an excellent design. We stayed in an overwater villa. It was well designed and the décor was tasteful. My only suggestion to make guests stay even better would be to supply sunscreen in each room.

3 areas that would make a big difference1.Banning the use of drones- we had a drone hovering hover our deck whilst we were sunbathing,had to I share a sunset at the Kata restaurant with a drone flying around and had a morning sunrise walk interrupted by yet another 2. Another area that needs attention was the snorkeling area around and between the water villas there is a large amount of construction debris in the water which is unsightly in such a gorgeous setting this is also to be seen on the snorkel out to the Coralarrium The last area would be on providing clearer information to your guest on transfer arrangements It is quite unsettling to have no idea of transfer times until the night before For many travelers like us on trans continental flights they would arrive with no info about their onward journey Apart from these minor niggles we had a wonderful time The villa was gorgeous and the staff from out butler to the wait staff to the gardeners were polite friendly and attentive A massive g compliment to your Diving team they were wonderful

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Fairmont Maldives in September. Everything in the resort was brand new, sparkling clean, and the villa was spectacular. In this aspect, Fairmont Maldives was truly five-star! Service standards-wise, there was however much room for improvement. Soon after placing the booking, I wrote to the reservations team to indicate that I had booked this vacation for our babymoon and that I wanted it to be a very memorable experience for my wife. The reservations team wrote back to confirm the details of my booking (without really acknowledging my special request or the fact that it was a special occasion for us). Upon our arrival and checking in, we were surprised to see that no special arrangements had been made - no rose petals, romantic decorations, cake or even a simple congratulatory message written on a card (which we have come to expect from other five-star resorts)! It felt as if my message hadn’t been passed on or processed by the reservations team at all. A complimentary bottle of sparkling wine that was offered to me at the point of booking was also nowhere to be found; eventually, it took me 3 days of checking with my butler before the bottle finally appeared in my villa on my third (and last) night. The idea that a five-star resort could have taken 3 days to present a bottle of sparkling wine was quite frankly ludicrous. In addition, we were also informed by our butler at check-in that the spa appointments that I had made for my wife 10 days prior to arrival (which the reservations team had confirmed and supposedly passed on to the spa team) were nowhere to be found in the resort’s booking records, so we had to rebook the appointments. By this point, one couldn’t help but wonder if the reservations team had been working independently of the rest of the resort. It seemed to us that there was a serious problem with the communication and coordination between the various teams and functions. Thankfully, there were exceptional staff who helped salvage the situation. We would like to give special thanks to Marife Bien and her Wellness team at the Willow Stream Spa for having pampered my wife and I. Marife in particular went beyond her scope of duties and diligently gathered feedback from us, in the hopes of helping the resort improve itself. Our butler Liya also made us feel very much at home, which was noteworthy given her tender age. Last but not least, Iman saw us off at the airport and made us feel like VIPs as he escorted us all the way to the airline check-in counters. At the end of the day, my wife and I still loved our very memorable time at Fairmont Maldives and we sincerely hope, with our feedback, that we can help your resort become even better and that we can enjoy a truly world-class, five-star experience when we return in the near future. « Great stay despite being unlucky with the windy weather »

My family all really enjoyed our stay. The rooms, the food and the staff across the resort were all excellent. The only room for improvement is in the kids club. The kids club room is very cleverly built. My eight, six and four year old loved the space. Mauvis and Nadjar were excellent with the kids but the women who were attending at the beginning of our stay were passive and often looking at their phones. Although there are a few good activities planned there were large blocks of time like 9-10.30am and after lunch when nothing was planned. That is ok if the staff are proactive to engage the kids in some activity (like drawing, craft, board game, running races, treasure hunt etc) in those times. It would be easier to leave the kids in the kids club before a boat trip if they were engaged in a fun activity with the staff. Instead many activities don’t start until 10.30am and the kids are wondering what they can do and parents wonder whether the kids will be happy there. We also found the boat trips rather expensive. We enjoyed snorkeling off the house reef from the beach but spending US$500 for a family to see dolphins and not see any and another US$500 for a snorkeling trip that wasn’t that much better than the house reef was prohibitively expensive.
