Total paradise

Everything was absolutely top quality. The staffs attention to detail was faultless; the accommodation spacious and beautiful; the food excellent and the situation fantastic. There was turquoise calm sea to swim in on one side of the island, snorkelling on another.

A magical experience beyond compare

Mickey M Couples - TripAdvisor review

This will probably be my most difficult review to date only in that I will find it difficult to put into words what a magical place Fairmont Maldives truly is but here goes: To give some context, 2023 was a year of personal loss (twice) and personal injury, which in turn had caused me to feel part mentally and physically broken. It was for this reason that my wife and I decided to finally take the plunge and book the Maldives. After much searching (there are so many resorts to choose from), we finally settled on the Fairmont. I don’t know why but each time we looked something kept drawing us back to it like a magnet! We booked a grand water sunset villa (stunning) and as we landed at the strikingly long jetty via sea plane, we were greeted by our villa host Jinah (legend more on him later), he whisked us on a quick tour of the island as we made our way to the water villa (no check in at reception, all done, seamless). The villa: 708 stunning infinity pool, large chill out area outside, large vaulted roof inside and very spacious. The whole place kept immaculate by the brillant Sharuhaan, we never had to ask him for more of anything, he just simply knew, effortless! 🙏🏼 Beautiful views over the lagoon and towards Kata the immaculate Japanese restaurant and amazing sunsets, perfection! You can literally jump off the villa into the water and snorkel away, we swam with a turtle for an hour, saw reef sharks (harmless) and a multitude of fish so colourful it was simply mesmerising! The Food: exceptional restaurants in Kata and Azure, if the settings were not stunning enough, the food is mind blowingly good, I would recommend all inclusive as you can then dine in these two fabulous establishments with some great complimentary drinks such as champagne, Sauvignon blanc, rose etc Raha market is the go to “standard” restaurant but again food rating exceptional (especially BBQ and Indian night. This in itself is set right on the beach overlooking the lagoon, the views / settings from any of these three are just amazing!!! The people: This is where it gets a little emotional for me, none of the staff had any idea of the awful 2023 my wife and I endured, however I can say without any hesitation that they have helped heal me in way to such an extent that I do not think I will ever be able to thank them enough! They are not just doing a job here, it is a calling, they live / breathe service to a level that I have not experienced anywhere else on this planet! I have engaged with so many staff here and their kindness and generosity of spirit is something I truly admire and wish more people in this world shared as it would be a much better place. Everywhere you look, gardeners, life guards, cleaners, servers have a 24/7 smile on their face and greet you with such warmth, you cannot help but feel better about yourself and it has helped me immensely. I felt compelled not to just say great views, great food etc it’s too generic for the Fairmont and gives it little justice! This is a magical place, it is a stunning setting but it is made out of this world by the dedication of the people who work here and want to make sure that you leave here feeling better than when you arrived! I have to thank the following people (longest list ever) my villa host Jinah, I never waited more than two minutes for him to reply or arrive at the villa, at one point asked him if he had a twin brother? He took such good care of us and we had such a good time laughing / joking with him. I must also thank Zee the restaurant manager, who took care of us all week, knew our favourite table, what drink we wanted etc even before we sat down, she was so attentive, as was Andy manager of Kata, Ajith supervisor, the lovely Afa the talented young chef in Raha, we had so many discussions about food and recipes also Kashun, Jeet, Iyaah, Shubash, Yazdaan, Nila, Mr Fizzy kept us entertained and made sure we never wanted for anything. Lastly Manoj thank you for sunrise yoga watching dolphins swim epic! I'd give 6 stars but google won’t let me! Thank you Mickey & Dawn xxx

The beach villas were extreme nice, the staff was beyond helpful and friendly. The food was superb. The only downside was that the stay ended too soon. I hope I will have the chance to come again. I already miss the private pool, the amazing beach, and the reef available just outside our door.

Will come back for sure

Outstanding! WOW – chef’s table dinner at Azure Again it has been Rashvan who convinced us to have this exquisite dinner at the bar of Azure restaurant, it has exceeded all our expectations (see photos). We recommend to everyone to try it! You are sat at the bar and a private cook is preparing all the dishes in front of you. Our Chef Rohit explained every little detail to us and made us feel very special. And the pairing wines selected by Vivek could not have been better, completely harmonizing with the food. Thanks for these unforgettable moments!

The room was top-notch, although it was missing a ceiling fan in the deck area. We were pleased with the service at the bar; however, we felt that most staff members were lacking in one crucial aspect: hospitality. Overall, we did not feel welcomed and even felt invisible. This is unacceptable and disappointing, especially considering Fairmont's worldwide reputation as a 5-star chain. I hope that in the future, management will ensure staff is trained to treat all guests equally, providing at least a minimal level of service.
