We here for two nights. We had 2 rooms, one for my husband and myself and the other for our daughter. The bed was the biggest bed I had ever seem. The room was great. There was plenty of room for my husband and myself. The breakfast was great and location was brilliant.

« Limited Facilities »

Rooms are OK, hotel is in a quiet area which is good. It is a bit of a walk to get to the main attraction areas. There was no welcome drink voucher or any mention about it. You have to have a drink in the Sofitel which was very expensive. Would choose somewhere else closer to the main centre next time. Can't quite work out what I'm supposed to get anymore and what type of welcome I should be receiving. The Sofitel at Guangzhou made me feel ultra welcome, provided a small amount of fruit in the room and 2 drinks vouchers without even having to ask. Wish they were all like that (they should be)

« Quite hotel in central location »

The hotel is part of a hotel complex sorrounding a nice park. Rooms are quiet although the hotel has a very central location. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Breakfast offered a large variaty of dishes.

I wish to extend my appreciation especially to the front desk supervisor whom I unfortunately forgotten her name. I checked in on 8 June 2017 at around 11-12 pm and was warmly welcomed by her. She could speak excellent English which was such a relief and a pleasant change. Being a platinum holder, she immediately recognised the status and acknowledged me with the expected platinum treatment. « Great Hotel, Friendly Staff, Excellent Breakfast »

Had an amazing time in Xi'an and the hotel was fantastic. Great room, clean, well maintained, good facilities. The breakfast was outstanding, spoiled for choice from local to international breakfast options. Whilst it is a little off the town centre, it is just an easy, 20 min walk and the daily breakfast alone is worth staying at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I would certainly stay here again on our next trip, which we are already planning.

Lovely clean rooms with large bathroom and comfortable beds. Very good breakfast with plenty of choice - even for a fussy 12 year old. The front desk staff were so friendly and helpful and professional. I would definitely return and would recommend.

below our expectation.if you are looking for quiet rendezvous then good..But we expect somewhere near shopping centres with different grades of things to buy. The staff is neutral and appear inpatient with our questions..you have to read up to help yourself. breakfast is about 3 star standard.bath tap leaking but i did not complain.

« Very good hotel »

The hotel is located in a square with very nice surrounds. The gardens are well kept and it is quite pleasant walking around. The service : check in, restaurants, front door are very good. We ate dinner at Churrascho, Brazilian BBQ which was very good. Louis the Chef/Manager is an excellent host and attends to our needs personally. Thank you Louis. All in a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

« Clean, Safe and Convenient »

I stayed here for 2 nights when I was traveling alone to Xi'an. I didn't spend much time in my room, just to sleep. I felt safe and the staff was friendly and spoke a little bit of English. The room was very hot / couldn't control the thermostat, but was able to open windows to let in fresh air and cool the room off. Bathrooms are outdated but clean. One morning, I ordered room service in the morning and it was delivered on time. I ate at the buffet the 2nd morning and it had a lot of variety of food. The location was very convenient - walking distance to the Muslim District and the Bell/Drum Tower.

Location is outside the city centre . Can catch a bus of metro or 30 min walk to the city centre ( drum tower). Hotels were comfortable. Quiet. Can use spa and swimming pool at Sofitel. Not Garden, it snowed on my 2nd day, Turing the garden into a winter wonderland, small waterfall, Chinese rest area, All covered with snow...beautiful

Good location and the staff is always ready for help you. Superb breakfast and confortable room. There are several malls near to the hotel for having Lunch and dinner. You can easily arrange a taxi for Terracota Warriors.

« Reception Staff need to upgrade and improve their English language »

As an international chain of hotels...the reception staff should be able to communicate with the guest with a simple and decent english language....as they didn't understand what is "extra bed" means.

After reviewing the choices available, we selected the Grand Mercure and were not disappointed. Our room with two beds was immaculately clean, large and very comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and helpful with assistance which was important as my wife and I know very little Mandarin. A little possible improvement may be with the breakfast which although very good was after 3 days somewhat predictable and we stayed 7 nights! There was a free ''upgrade'' one morning to the Sofitel but due to confusion over the hotels in the complex, we ended up eating in the even more posh Legend Hotel. The staff were very gracious over the mistake and did not charge us. They even allowed our son and daughter-in-law who were also staying at the Grand Mercure to join us to breakfast there. We will certainly stay at the Grand Mercure again if ever we return to Xian.

« Unfriendly, unhelpful receptionists at Grand Mercure »

We arrived at the Grand Mercure hotel quite late on 24 March, the receptionists were neither friendly nor enthusiastic when taking photocopies of our IDs. Given both of us hold the Accor platinum card, we were expecting to have access to the executive lounge. However, when we asked the receptionists about the executive lounge access, it seems that they had no idea what it was and said our hotel does not have the lounge service. Both receptionists did not even pay attention to our membership cards, it seems to us that they have no idea there is such card from Accor. After checking in, we were told that the lift right at the hotel entrance was out of service, we had to go to the other side of the building to go up via the lift there. There was no one with any intention to help us carry our suitcases, so we had to carry everything ourselves. So, after taking the lift up 2 floors, we found our room was located in the middle of the corridor- hence, we had to drag our suitcases all the way back to the other side of the building again! Given we were very sure we should be able to use the executive lounge of the hotel (we always get free upgrade, very warm welcome during our stay in Bangkok, with free access to the executive lounge as well), we decided to email the manager of the hotel. She confirmed that we should be able to enjoy the lounge access at Sofitel next door- we had to ask over and over again before any one from Grand Mercure can be sure we should be able to access the lounge at Sofitel. So, we went to the lounge of Sofitel's on 25 March afternoon, and we had to clarify yet again with the staff there- they had to call the staff at Grand Mercure before we could go in. So, we were told that we could only enjoy the lounge service during happy hour from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The staff at Sofitel have been very friendly and patient. On the contrary, the staff at Grand Mercure are mostly very bad. Our experience with Grand Mercure was totally unprofessional, unpleasant and unacceptable. Throughout our stay, because the lift was not working, we had to walk up the stairs in order to go into our room (there is no point to walk to the other side of the building just to take the lift up 2 floors, while we have to walk all the way to the other side for our room). There are good points which we appreciated though - mostly from the friendly and helpful staff from Sofitel

« good place, good price »

This hotel is located good place. Bus station is close and to take taxe is easy. But don't take taxi at main door, it only goes to long distance. The crews are very kind and food is good. When I stayed, Only bad thing was Xian's weather, too much smoge and mudy air.

Clean old hotel with old equipment, service in bad English and with poor breakfast. No pubs or restaurants near by - only expensive Sofitel with a lot of mosquitos inside which bites you all the time you enjoy the Great Wall Chinese wine for 50 Euro/bottle. If you are not VIP, no taxi service (although there are hundred of them outside). Fitness is only possible in the Sofitel hotel outside (500m). If you are not Chinese-small, you can not even put your hands upwards in the fitness room. Internet access needs to be reloaded every hour with password.

We enjoyed the hotel and location of the hotel in the interesting city of Xian. The hotel had an upgrade but was still relaxed and quiet. Sofitel delives beautiful large suites with nice beds and an bathing room

« Great Property But! »

My wife and I stayed for one night as we were on a quick tour of Xian. On approaching the building it looks fabulous in its own superior courtyard, which is shared with other hotels: Mercure, Sofitel and another one of the Sofitel brands so four in all. Apparently the buildings used to be used by the Communist Party leadership as a retreat and the property keeps this feeling. Inside the hotel the public areas are very superior with what appeared to be new high quality carpets in the corridors. Check-in was efficient, as was the check-out and breakfast had a very good choice of east wand west options. Now to the negatives: the hotel does not have its own bar/restaurant (from what we were told the restaurant is only used for breakfast). However the Sofitel does have thes options and you can charge your room when eating and drinking in the Sofitel. Our room was small, though it was. Not a real issue as it was functional. We did though find the room very depressing as the decor and bedroom furniture was like stepping back 30+ years. Money has obviously been spent in the public areas just a shame it hadn't been spent on the room decor! Finally fought our stay we found all staff to be attentive and very professional.
