« Too few staff »

Stay here regularly, I realise this is the xmas period and it was very busy with several xmas parties but the bar and restaurant were both very understaffed. The staff, as usual, were doing their best in a bad situation. On arrival, I gave up trying to get a drink at the bar, after 15 mins, the people infront of me said they'd been waiting 25mins! The restaurant was busy with a very limited menu, I'd gone half board and wish I hadn't. Breakfast next morning was much better and plentiful. Room was clean and comfortable but still a problem with some of the grouting in bathroom. There is still no covered smoking area, it was a miserable wet night and so smokers had to huddle under the entrance canopy, blocking the entrance. Large car park a plus. I still like this hotel but menu and staffing levels need to be improved.

Check out was rude Mold in the bathroom No explanation about room service evey other hotel ive stayed in has a room service menu in the room. On check in the guy looled well confused that we booked a room with a double bed and not 2 singles so thanks for making it awkward and embarrassing for me and my girlfriend

I was traveling and working alone. My room was upgraded which was lovely so I could get some work done. My meal was lovely, the brie pie starter and sea bass with risotto. Service was very good.

The room was comfortable and decent sized Unfortunately the shower let it down as we could shower in only cold water We notified the hotel staff who managed to give us access to a shower in another room The. Breakfast on the Sunday morning was luke room and appeared not enough We spoke to Michelle who explained the situation that there had been a coach party in that morning & party the previous evening with a large number of quests Michelle was very helpful and we can not fault Michelle in a difficult situation

« Not what I’ve come to expect from a Mercure hotel »

To start with key card didn’t work, had to return from far end of hotel down three floors to get new card. No Apology. Decor in need of repair. Constant humming noise in the room which seemed to come from another rooms bathroom fan. Very understaffed, but were polite. No proper evening meal available, only had a Christmas menu available. Foyer door not shutting properly, had to close it several times after people came through. This made it cold and uncomfortable in the bar area. Breakfast was chaotic due to lack of waiting on staff. I think it needs a lot of work to bring it up to Mercure standards.

Everything was great. My only comment is when we went for breakfast nobody greeted us so was left to find someone to ask for refill on food toast and coffee otherwise it was great will definitely stay again if we were over that way.

« VERY POOR BREAKFAST »

the room décor was very nice, but the decorating could have been better quality. Big gaps between edges of wall paper etc. The bathroom was very dirty At breakfast time, I have never had plastic plates in a hotel before, very poor. Also everyone seemed to be waiting for things. Service was very poor. I have no eggs or mushrooms, waited ages and then the rest of the breakfast was cold. Also waited 15 minutes for the coffee. Reported these things but got the feeling that they had been told these things before. Not offered any form of compensation, not that I expected any. But they could have been more understanding Also my friend had her disabled daughter with her, no ramp to get into the building had to use their own. So disabled people cant get into the hotel, neither can they get to the tables in the restaurant. Very bad

« Great staff and a disappointing hotel »

Good welcome, easy parking, friendly staff across reception and restaurant/breakfast. Staff arranged a room move for me after the first night as room104 was exceptionally noisy with the Lift mechanisms. The move was easy/straightforward however was the farthest room in the building on the top floor. Specifications were exactly the same as the one that I had minus the lift mechanism noise. Unfortunately on entering the shower first thing in the morning it became apparent that it was broken. The temperature adjuster was not fixed to the shower unit therefore scalding hot water was coming from the shower. It also came from the hot tap in the sink and the cold tap. Brushing your teeth with hot water is not a nice experience. Hotel management apologised for this however appeared nonchalant at the impact this had had someone who was unable to have a shower first thing in the morning had had to move rooms and was presenting disappointment. I would like to heve recived some form of compensation, acknowledgement for the disruption and a more appropriate emotional response from the checkout receptionist. (Manager??) This person then suggested I report my experience on TripAdvisor both positive and negative.

I am sorry that your initial room was too noisy. It was situated next door to our lift which at the time did start to become rather noisy. We have since had an engineer out to resolve that, and our lift now runs quietly and smoothly. In regards to the hot water issue you found in your second room, I can report that our maintenance team have looked at the taps, and have rectified the problem by replacing the regulator. Your experience on checkout is extremely disappointing, and I would like to take this opportunity to personally apologise on behalf of myself and the hotel. I have reimbursed you part of your stay, so please allow 48 hours for this to be processed. « Great value »

Stayed at this hotel several times over the past 2 years as I have relatives living in the area. Since Mercure have taken over the hotel things have improved even though I was quite happy before.. Only one problem this time and that was that neither of the 2 radiators in my bedroom were working. We were given the use of a hot air fan which proved adequate. I would mention that the service was very good and the breakfast was excellent.

« Overall very good with one or two minor niggles »

I was very impressed by the way that the staff looked after my wife and I despite the pressures of dealing with a wediing and two coachloads of residents . We needed a bar type snack before therestaurant was open because of our need to go on to the family celebration party in Walsall quickly.The snack was wholesome and plenty of it. . The buffet breakfast was very warm but not hot and there was a lot of variety to choose from. The minor niggles related to the bathroom where a few minor repairs to the bath/shower and toilet would be warranted. Other than this the room was spacious and well furnished.

« Room mainly fine, long walk to get there. »

The room was fine, long walk to our room number 330. Didn't use the tea and coffee, no biscuits available. Room was very hot so turned the radiator down which didn't seem to make much difference, we opened the window to cool it off. When we returned to our room late Saturday night the people in the room next door were very noisy, sounded like there were several people in there. The noise continued until almost 1am and we'd decided if it was still noisy at 1am we would ring reception about it. We didn't stay for breakfast so unable to comment on that. As we got the room for a reasonable price then it was fine for the price we paid.
