The hotel and staff were lovely. Room was too hot though and only one cup for the tea and coffee in room. Room was very spacious and clean.. Breakfast was fantastic .

Great hotel . Then my van got broken into on the car park wich isn’t your fault . Nether the less your hotel clearly states that you have ctv . You have big yellow signs stating that . When I asked reception aparantly your cameras only cover the small part of the carpark . Watch your work vehicles people

« An enjoyable experience but being short of staff made breakfast time frustrating. »

I enjoyed my stay at your Hotel and hope to be coming back again with the Deanna Durbin Society next year. My room was very pleasant and the food was excellent. The Hotel was very busy on Saturday 19th September and because of an apparent shortage of staff it made breakfast time on the Sunday morning difficult for everyone, with guests stood around for long periods waiting for food to be brought to the serving tables. Other than that everything was good and I look forward to coming back next year.

Overall we felt a little disapointed. The bar service and quality of drinks was very poor. Breakfast didnt start until 8am on Saturday and as we had to leave at 8am we missed out. Staff were good but the hotel felt like it was being run on a shoestring.

Service was good, decor of rooms were mismatch. Old rooms trying to me modern but not quality. Shower did not have hot water and if your over 5ft tall don't bother head was touching the roof. Hotel layout like a maze with lots of staff only stairs and corridors little confusing.

Lovely room but very dark once it came to night. Bed head lights didnt work.Shower was either very hot or cold.You advertise lunch daily we were told no lunch as chef doesnt come in until 3.

We have been for four nights in the Barron court Hotel, the room was in a very bad shape, out of four ceiling light only two worked, in the wardrobe was only one coat hanger warm water took five minutes to arrive but was not enough for two people to shower, the room is extremely noisy, there is no accoustic Isolation, if People are in the room above who will hear every step. finally to complete the Picture when checking out the hotel was not aware the I paid most of my bill with Bonus Points and demanded payement in full. I refused but when I checked my bounus Point account I found that they debited my account again without my authorisation.

Over the last 2 years I've stayed at this hotel at least 40 times and have always considered it a great value for money hotel, however over the last few months the hotel, sadly, has deteriorated. The rooms have been redecorated but, in some rooms, to a very amateur standard. Speaking of my last trip, there were large splodges of grey emulsion over the pelmet, the bins hadn't been emptied but thankfully they appear to have sorted the tv reception out, the kettle was half full of very cloudy water, which I rinsed out and boiled up several times before I felt it safe to use. The staff on reception, bar and restaurant were, as usual, excellent but it was a busy night with a wedding reception, full restaurant etc., and they were understaffed for the number of guests. The restaurant, which I had always considered a 'hidden gem' could only offer a basic menu of pate, soup or melon, for starters, at £3.95 each and chicken, fishcakes, vegetarian option at £12.95 each or 10 oz rump steak for an additional £4.95, there was no special or main menu. I chose the pate and steak, (a combination I have ordered several times before) when the pate turned up it was literally a sliver, with a small slice of toasted bread, salad leaves and no dressing. The rump steak was thin, small, overcooked and very grisly and came with a mixed salad and chips, no onion rings or mushrooms, which normally come with this meal, I did try to complain but couldn't catch anyones eye as the staff were so busy and as I hadn't eaten since the previous evening I did eat the food. To add insult to injury the 250ml glass of Malbec I ordered, which used to cost £6.15 has now risen to £7.85 a glass!! I did complain about the meal when I went to pay and the staff were very apologetic but that didn't solve my problem. The price of the rooms have also increased. Since Accor have taken over from Best Western there seem to have been a lot of teething problems associated with this hotel. Not to be totally negative this is still a good hotel, for those, like me, on a budget, the staff are lovely and as helpful as they can be under the circumstances, the beds are comfortable and spotless and the rooms of a good size. I've only had breakfast a couple of times since Accor took over and this has remained the same as before except it now costs £10 instead of the £7.50 it was before. I think if Accor continue to increase their prices then they should also increase their standards.

Having met you on numerous occasions during your regular stays with us, I know you're not one to complain, so reading that we have fallen short saddens me. As a newly branded Mercure hotel, we are striving to improve on all levels of service. Clearly we still have lots to work on, but we are listening, and your comments both positive and negative, shall help us on the right path. Food at the hotel has always been excellent, and the restricted menu on a weekend is being addressed and discussed. Bar prices have changed slightly yes, but this is to fall in line with other hotels within the brand. I appreciate our location may not be the most idyllic, but again pricing is being looked at. Teething problems like TV reception and hot water have been a frustration. That being said we are well on the way to rectifying these annoyances. On behalf of both myself and the rest of the hotel staff, we apologise for not meeting your expectations. It was a last minute booking due to a personal emergency so I was quite stressed. I was given a lovely room but it was very noisy due to its proximity to the boiler room so I asked to be moved. The room I was moved to wasn’t nearly as nice and there were a few problems. I raised these with the manager the next day and I was extremely impressed with the way he resolved the issues with dignity, efficiency and kindness. I understand that mistakes happen but it’s how those involved take responsibility is what counts and in this instance the manager surpassed himself and I continued my stay as a happy and satisfied customer.

Having just changed hands from Best Western it was apparent some changes were being made. That said the lift being out of order wasn't perhaps included in the list of changes being actioned during my stay. Overall the stay was ok. Of credit to the hotel is the receptionist Michelle, who went out of her way to provide assistance above and beyond the requirement of her role.

Improvement on last time . Still a maze of corridors is still quite nice to have meeting with old friends . Pity kettles have such short cable and are never on table with socket which it will reach . But this is problem which most hotels . And throw pillows are ok for photos but are thrown in corner at bedtime . Very comfy bed . Have booked again for Xmas party . Was very sorry to miss meal with no chef till 18:30 and stopped at 21:00 but was too busy chatting .
