My first stay at Honiley Court was a brilliant experience purely down to the amazing customer service provided by Sara. A very professional and amicable character who went out of her way to ensure that I was well catered for, relaxed and enjoyed my stay at Honiley Court. However, the second time I stayed over, my experience was appalling. I made dinner reservations for 19:30 and did not get dinner served till 21:00 - at which point the food did not look appetising nor was it enjoyable. If Sara was working at the time I am absolutely certain that she will have ensured everything was well for every guest in the hotel. Sara is an absolute credit to Mercure Hotels!!!

I must apologise for the nihgt in question; it certainly isn't reflective of our normal high standards, as you expereinced on your first stay. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Evening staff were too. Breakfast staff were unattentive and non communicative. Room was too hot (24c)with no heating on in the room (radiator was cold), had to use the air con and open window to cool room to 20c. Bed too hard, not a restful night. One bedside lamp had no socket near so it was not usable. No bulbs in the over-bed lamps. No instructions for the coffee machine provided (which is a nice touch) No extractor fan in bathroom. The shower was not fully functioning, the larger head didn't work. 30+ minute wait for food after ordering. Food was mediocre, steak not rested so a bit chewy and chips were warm. Staff attentive, although only addressed me when asking if everything was ok, and not my wife too. Breakfast was very disappointing especially following a poor nights sleep. Lack of direction and interaction from staff. Toaster took too long and had seen better days. Hot food not well presented, sausages ok although greasy, bacon not cooked properly, scrambled eggs had congealed looking more like an omlette than eggs - no other options seemingly available. Mushrooms grey, hash browns over cooked, tomatoes undercooked.

The hotel is dated and understaffed. Only one person on check in and check out and she had to run the bar! Check out took 20 minutes. Bu the food was good for what it was.

Very conveniently located and attractively priced hotel, great to pull off busy road and find warm comfortable room. Excellent clean breakfast room although scrambled egg was not available at 0645.

We had a lovely stay at Mercure hotel. Although some of the reviews mention it being dated, we found it quite modern and clean. The service and room were very pleasant and I would be definitely returning there when I'm back in the area next.

The staff were very helpful, the rooms were very well presented, we didn't like the breakfast buffet and the menu for evening meal was not extensive however the one evening meal we took was steak, it came cooked exactly as we had asked and well presented.

« Hotel was nice, shame about the way in which payments are taken. »

Nice hotel room, however unable to turn off radiator which caused me to have to have the window wide open all night in order to sleep. Also when booking a non refundable room, why do you not take payment straight away, instead you take it just prior to check in. On the last visit you did this then proceeded to take an additional payment the day I checked out also. If its non refundable just take the money at the time of booking, not after! I am now wasting my own time trying to rectify your balls up!

The staff we pleasant enough but we were one of only a handful of people in the hotel. The room was clean but the rest of the hotel is very tired and the downstairs smells of chip fat which gives it the feel of a fast food restaurant. It is also in desperate need of some basic repair like painting. We tried to get a drink but you had so little ice we decided to go out for something to eat and drink. Over all for a mecure hotel very poor and TBH the premier inn up the road will be my preference next time which is a shame. You are supposed to be a global brand.....

« Help! Assistance Needed!!! »

I try and stay with Accor wherever I go. The hotel was fine but it was woefully understaffed. Maybe it was the time of year but there was only one (very helpful but overloaded) young lady to attend to the reception/housekeeping/ restaurant/bar!! She did her best but it still took us more than a half hour to get settled in. Especially not helpful when the wife was sick and needed rest.

« Dinner disappointing , nice room , nice staff so generally happy »

The room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable so that was the main thing . Thought the dining area was a bit soulless . Ordered fish and chips , about as much fish as batter and could have counted the peas on the plate , which was disappointing as I'd had a tough day and was hungry
