« Good room, great food and helpful staff »

Our stay was much better than we had hoped for. We had collected hire cars from Green Motion many times before so knew the entrance hall but had never been further than the front desk. It suited us to stay over night this time to make an early start with the hire car. We would look forward to repeating the stay over night. The rump steaks were as good as it gets

« Not Impressed!!!! »

Have stayed before - no problems. This time our room was double booked. We were watching TV when the door opened and a gentleman walked in. Embarrassing for him and us. The alarm call we set went off the following morning and wouldn't switch off therefore disturbing the guest in the next room. The Caesar Salad was extortionately priced for just lettuce and and sprinkling of Parmesan cheese and croutons.

I had trouble checking in as the lady didn't appear to understand what dinner, B&B was. I asked whether the account had been settled as it is a business was and she said yes. I then went to dinner and told the waitress i had dinner included and ased if she could tell me what was allowed etc, She didn't know and went and got someone wlese who didn't know either. He went off to find out. This was about 15 minutes later and I had gotten bored and hungry and just ordered. I was then told, eventually, the meal deal was only £7. I had ordered a starter and drink additonally and had to pay £12. This wasn't a problem but would have been nice to know. It was hard to get the female waitresses attention and I had to physically flag her down twice. The food was ok but nothing to get excited about. The tuna was seriously over seasoned and the chicken wings starter....well i've had better. Check out was an aboslute shambles. I had the lady from the previous night who i can only assume was new or a trainee. Now a tip here is for them to tell people they are so there is a certain level of patience. She said my account needed to be settled, see above where i checked this with her when i checked in, I said are you sure that has been paid. Off she went to get someone else. He was unsure how to take my payment from my business account card and went off to get someone else. I now had three employees trying to sort out whatevere internal training issues you had whilst the queue behind me was growing and growing. There was a lady 2 behind me who was shouting can you not get anyone else out here im going to be late for my meeting. Was charged parking on top of all the other issues and the barriers were up anyway when i left!!! All in all an aboslute nightmare. I stay at premier inns a lot and I have to say the customer service is always spot on and even food in some of the places in very good. I doubt I'd look at a Novotel again as a first option.

I checked in and the lady told me i had B&B. I sadi no i have dinner, bed and breakfast and had to provide my confirmation email. My card didn't work first time and i had to go back to reception. I was on the ground floor which isn't very comforting for a solo female traveller. Dinner was a nightmare from start to finish. My waitress didn't know what i was allowed with dinner included in my price. She then went and got someone else who didn't know either and went off. This went back and forth for about 15 minutes. Room was nice, fairly clean but didn't have a desk to work from.Checkout - well where do i begin? Disaster. There was 3 people trying to check me out while ignoring the queue behind me. A lady was shouting that she was going to miss her meeting. They couldn't confirm if the account card had already been charged (i asked this the nigth before) and then when they decided it hadn't didn't recognise my particular card and were having prpblem taking the charge. Nightmare. and wouldn't stay again.

I found the staff welcoming and professional. In particular Shahid who drew directions for me to the next town (I had no satnav) and if I got lost to phone him at the hotel and he would guide me back. So nice. Our room was very clean and comfortable and I LOVED the huge tv. Definitely getting one when I go home! I will choose Novotel again. Thank you. Bronwyn
