We enjoyed our stay at the St. Brieuc Novotel. The rooms were modern and well designed. The parking was convenient and secure. Our only reservation was about the restaurant; the menu was interesting but limited, and the wine list was very limited. Only 4 or 5 white wines on offer, and only one of those under 30 euros! That can’t be good, in the area that produces so much Muscadet that is usually such good value. Having originally planned to have dinner in the hotel, we changed our minds, walked for 5 minutes and found a genuine Breton restaurant with great seafood choices and many sub 20 euro wines. Perhaps the hotel management could learn from their local competition. Despite this we would definitely stay at the hotel again as the accommodation was very good quality and competitively priced.

Loved our stay but it was impacted by the power outage

We loved everything about the hotel when we arrived, however during our dinner the power went down due to a nearby fire. We understand that this was out of the control of the hotel but felt that there could have been more done by staff at the hotel to ensure the wellbeing of their guests. As we were travelling with a small baby we were concerned with how we would navigate our room once it got dark due to our phones (being the only source of light) having limited power and how we would sterilise bottles having only brought an electronic steriliser. It was also difficult the next day being on the second floor with the lifts out of service in order to vacate our room. As we had a small baby we were in the hotel when the power went down and therefore we were unable to use the facilities of our room, which was a disappointment. We did receive complimentary parking (7 euro refund) but felt that more could have been done at the time that the power went down to ensure the satisfaction of guests. We loved the hotel swimming pool and the check out time of 12.00pm.

Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was immaculately clean . All staff looked happy. I phoned from the Port and asked for a Taxi to be sent as we were too tired to walk back and it arrived within minutes. Exceptional service!! Quiet at night despite number of small children. Not a sound anywhere. Well done Novotel!!

Excellent hotel, well positioned and very quiet. Convenient parking (below ground) with plenty of parking spaces allocated for the hotel. Good breakfast (buffet style). Restaurant somewhat disappointing as very restricted choice and not appropriate for this style of hotel (just one or two "proper" dishes and the rest burgers,etc.) When the menu does offer something interesting the food presented was good. Staff attentive and very polite.

The room was very clean, I love the decoration, the personnals are very friendly, and l'Amiral (hotel restaurant) was definitely top notch, it was so delicious! And, it was not expensive at all!!! And breakfast was good too!!! Their bed is so soft, for people line with back problems, it was not the best choice, but we are very comfortable in bed as long as we don't get out Overall, it was a very satisfying stay! Will be back soon!!!

Could have been wonderful as the building is unique and in a good position, but service was slow (10 minutes before anybody turned up at reception to check us in, more than 20 minutes to get scrambled eggs at breakfast - maybe a few more staff could help) plus on our last morning after breakfast I was forced to pull off the autoroute at an "aire" to be violently sick (projectile vomited 3 times) - the only thing I ate that my wife didn't was a yoghurt, which I had noticed didn't seem to be chilled. The only food we ate prior to my vomiting was the breakfast, so 100% sure that was the cause. I contacted the Hotel to let them know so that they could take the necessary action to avoid any other guests having the same problem, but they seemed disinterested and simply pointed out that no-one else had been sick that they know of and that there is a chilling system built into the counter - if that is the case, it is odd that in spite of this, juices and milks were in a tray on the same counter containing ice-cubes!

Very pleasant experience, friendly staff, great exterior and interior of the building, possibility to relax at the swimming pool. The terrace of the restaurant is very well situated and is well lit by the sun until late in the evening allowing to enjoy dinner and drinks there. The sole difficulty was the first day to find the correct entrance for the parking.

We received a very warm welcome at check-in, were delighted with our room and loved the pool however when we went downstairs for a drink things took a completely different turn. The young man tried his best but the women who was running the bar/restaurant was rude and patronising. Too busy reading her newspaper to assist when we finally got her attention we were made to feel like a nuisance. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant which was a big mistake. The meat was tough and inedible and the salad looked like it had been salvaged from the rubbish bin. It was so shocking I took photos. We had the same indifferent service from the same staff member and when we wanted to leave were ignored completely until we got up and demanded the bill. It's a shame such a lovely hotel is let down by such an appalling staff member and dreadful meal.

Lovely staff at reception, a great room and and fantastic pool in a great location, unfortunately the Mercure Saint Brieuc was let down by its restaurant and bar staff. One female member was too busy reading the newspaper to serve us and when we finally got her attention we were made to feel like a nuisance. The food was dreadful with tough inedible meat and a salad that looked like it had been salvaged from the bin. It's a shame, as our overall experience of the hotel itself was great but with only a one night stay and dinner being a big part of that stay they have let themselves down.
