Great check in, valet parking was awesome, but the room was too noisy. We were warned of this however the noise didn't abate until 4am.... not much sleep was had.

late check in was a very nice experience, when we arrived after a long trip we were welcomed with a cup of tea and biscuit. That was very lovely! Every staff member was very polite and helpful. However our room had not a pleasant smell. it smelt very musty. Also the lighting in our room was not bright enough for reading. The Jacuzzi didn't work and the tiles on the ground were loose and came off.

The check-in, request for a room with a desk and the welcome feel about the hotel has been amazing, esp. through Sam, Assistant Front Office Manager, who did everything he could to move me to a room with a desk. Thanks again. Also your Italian concierge, who always engaged in a friendly chat. Your rooms, the ambiance are nice unique and made me felt at home while away. If it would come down to this you would score 10/10. On 9 October, I had a busy day ahead of me and additionally struggled with the two hour time difference to Melbourne. I popped down to the restaurant and asked if there's an a la carte menu available instead of full buffet. I got seated literally at the end of the restaurant in the middle of the buffet. Got handed a menu and on top you had a small menu available incl. a chia bowl. I had a full day of sweet menu tastings ahead of me, so something small would have done the trick alongside my espresso. It was not possible to receive this menu item, because it was listed in the "grab & go" section. I mean seriously? Because it was package up the wrong way, it was not possible for me to eat it at my table. And why would a "grab & go" offer be on a dine in a la carte menu? If you do not want me to have this menu item while dining in, simply do not give me the option. Your waitress and manager for the breakfast restaurant did not understand and made me quite uncomfortable. My day got ruined at 7:30am. Please educate your staff to use common sense and not act like robots, just because something says no, or it says "grab & go". Well maybe I grabbed it, went and sat down. yes in your breakfast restaurant.

Amazing staff, incredibly clean, but hotel features lacking

The hotel is very clean and the staff are truly amazing and professional - full credit. Lovely to arrive to warm tea and tart, and complimentary snacks with drinks. However the Accor website filter said this hotel had parking - which is certainly does not. It's a 10 minute walk away, confusing to get to and turns out to be an expensive affair even with discounted day passes from the hotel. You can hear nightclub music in the rooms on weekends (even the quieter one we were kindly upgraded to) and it did become stuffy in a room without windows. The huge shower however was great, as was TV channels and decor in the room itself. But if I'd known about the parking I'd have chosen the Grand Mecure with an actual view for basically the same money and the same parking situation.

Room, facilities, location and breakfast where all great. 1st night I slept well... The 2nd night I stayed (room 208) the music from nearby bars/clubs was unbearable! I spoke to reception about it who pointed me to some ear plugs in the room but this only marginally reduced the noise. The music continued until 3am so I didn't have an ideal preparation for the business meetings I had the following morning. A colleague of mine stayed on level 1 but towards the front of the building and had no issue so it's likely just a problem for the back end of the building. To top of my stay, I had an e-mail from the hotel stating that things had been consumed from the mini-bar and to confirm if I had consumed the items. The items would be charged to the credit card had I not responded in 72 hours of the e-mail. The items certainly were not consumed during my stay. It made me feel a little uneasy as to what happened in the room once I had checked out and what would have happened if I did not have access to my e-mail straight after my trip or missed the e-mail sent.

It was a short stay. The hotel’s physical environment is charming. The original structure was well refurbished. It is tucked away in a super luxury stretch of Queen St. check in experience of fast and friendly. The concierge team were super friendly and super readily available to help with luggage in and out of the hotel which really helps at the curbside of a busy road.

The concierge and front desk service was exceptional. The room and bathroom were beautifully appointed. However, the common hallway had been sprayed with a very powerful air freshener and the smell was very cloying and came through to the room and gave me a headache. This distracted from my whole experience of the hotel.
