We found South Wharf Novetel very satisfactory breakfast was fabulous and the accommodation although the property is relatively new it was very clean and well maintained. Staff were very helpful, polite and happy which enhanced our stay

Found the room clean, neat and inviting with a great view. When the staff found out it was my daughter’s birthday the organized chocolates for her in the room. I would have liked specific vegan items on the menu or things outlined so we knew what we could select.

Beautiful new hotel run by inexperienced teenagers. Supervising adults were scarce. This is what happened during our 5 day stay: Lovely Y. girl on hotel reception who was impossible to understand as she spoke with an accent and she had a lisp. Housekeeping did not replenish tea and coffee facilities, so every day I would have to ring and ask for more supplies, unfortunately due to a language barrier staff did not understand what english breakfast tea was and kept delivering chamomile tea. Every day housekeeping did not replenish all the bath towels and left some dirty ones. Ordered room service dinner twice for 2 people and both times only received 1 set of cutlery so had to ring for more cutlery, which seemed to completely and totally mystify staff as to why 2 people would want a set of cutlery each. Some of the food had a cover and some did not, so some of the food arrived cold. Every day at breakfast we ordered fried and poach eggs, every time they came out raw and every time we had to send them back and ask for cooked eggs not raw eggs - it is obvious that the breakfast cook believes that eggs should be eaten raw. As the tables dont appear to have table numbers on them some of the breakfast staff get confused as to what table number we were sitting at and would therefore place our breakfast order of eggs to the wrong table so our eggs were never delivered and we had to re-order them. All of this is a lack of staff training, no attention to detail, Y. inexperienced staff not supervised. It's all reactive not proactive and certainly not professional.

The first 10 minutes was a bit of a nightmare as I was checked into a room that already had another guest in it! (room 2113 initially). I was also carrying 2 bags and a golf bag so had to make my way down all again and start the check in process again. Assistant manager on duty was apologetic and gave me a new room (2304). Would have been nice to have been offered something for the inconvenience or at least offer to assist with bags. Service from staff very good otherwise, breakfast buffet was good and Friday dinner was excellent. I would recommend a few more staff in the mornings as it was "light on" early morning. Nobody to greet quite a few guests and coffee took 10 minutes and was cold.

A new, modern hotel, with great guest facilities. Rooms spacious and everything needed is there. Staff ultra friendly. Every time I passed by reception, staff would greet me with a welcome and a smile. Very attentive. Great choice for breakfast in the restaurant and had dinner one night, good food and a lovely wine. Handy location, especially if attending the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.

It was lovely but lacked a few of the finer experiences that we like. The concierge was “almost” rude in moving us on from the front of the hotel, stating no parking. We explained we were just grabbing suitcases, he was quite forthright. The Reception on the 5th floor & then moving onto another floor to stay was rather odd & a little inconvenient... catching 2 lifts to leave the premises. The restaurant lacked atmosphere (no windows) and the rooms were exceptionally small. ... Overall the staff were just lovely. Super friendly & helpful. Would we stay again. Probably not. But in saying that, it was very convenient to the South Wharf precinct...

The stay was comfortable. I paid extra for a better room and was hoping to get a great view. I was disappointed and can't imagine what the cheaper rooms are like. The view was ordinary over the rooftop of the convention centre. But mostly it was the small windows which spoilt the enjoyment of a reasonable city /freeway view. I would only stay again if it was busy in Melbourne and couldn't get what I wanted. I prefer a hotel that is not so huge and impersonal and a room with opening windows. It was very claustrophobic. Bathroom was lovely and the bed comfortable. The restaurant was ok.

Lovely new hotel with great view from our room. Lovely and clean and excellent bathroom. Comfortable bed. Left my phone charger in the room and promptly found and returned to me by express post. Suggestions - Low profile pillow. Although there was a pillow menu they all seemed firm and high by description. Bar downstairs opening a little longer than 9:00PM

It was an ok stay. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable... the only down side was when we checked in I asked for a late check out which I was told yes. Then Sunday morning was told I had to check out by 12. I was happy to pay for a late checkout but being an accor member they said it was free. But then told be out by 12.
