« Disappointing sleepless night. »

As per my wife’s email (which we have had no response to) I am extremely disappointed that we spent $500 on a hotel room that was so poor you could not even sleep in. After all of Crown (Metropol, Prominade and Towers) was booked out on the same night (except a $810 presidential suite that comes with canapés and drinks in crown towers) we chose to stay at the Novotel. I regret not spending the additional $310 to have a better experience at a hotel where we have had nothing but great times attending in the past. Please see below the email that was sent after our stay. I am happy to be contacted to send a video of the whistling noise that makes the room not even be used for its intended pourpose- SLEEPING! ****************************** Hi Simon, I’m sending this email on behalf of my husband Mark H. and I. Our recent booking & stay at Novotel South Wharf was booked under his name. We stayed for 1-night recently on Tuesday 5th March 2019. We were checked into Room 1716 I believe. We were travelling for my birthday. This was also our first night away from our 7-month old baby boy. And a long awaited night-off from our 3-year old also! I just wanted to bring to your attention that sadly we had a couple of problems with the room and with our stay. Firstly (and as I’m sure will be noted on our file), as soon we are arrived in the room and were looking around – I slipped on some water that had pooled on the tiles in the Bathroom. Upon investigation we noted that the access-hatch in the roof was leaking/dripping water – and this had pooled on the tile floor. Causing me to slip and fall against the bathroom wall. I was not hurt (although my ego perhaps a little bruised!). A little embarrassing! We bought this to the attention of a staff member on the front desk. A man from Maintenance was sent up and rectified the problem swiftly. This was all sorted and the leaking ceiling was no longer a problem. What WAS a problem however was the zero sleep we experienced due to a constant whistling noise in the room. From approx. 11pm when we went to Bed – the constant whistling noise in the bedroom kept both my Husband and I awake for the majority of the night. We suspect there is some kind of gap around the window or space where air is getting in-out. Creating some kind of suction/air-flow issue that is producing the noise. It was unbelievable loud at several times during the night. And we were unable to get a wink of sleep. We recorded the noise on our phone – should you wish/need me to send this through to you. I’m more than happy to. I just wanted to bring this to your attention as when checking-out on the Wednesday morning, the lady on the Front desk at the time did not seem overly concerned. Her response was “well you’ve already paid in-full so there’s nothing I can do”. We weren’t reassured that she was going to pass on the information to your Maintenance team or anything along those lines to rectify the issue for future guests. Just disappointing to spend what was a long-awaited night-off from parent-life and a celebration for my birthday… wide awake annoyed by noise. We had anticipated a great nights rest and some R&R… but it was sadly the opposite. We wouldn’t want any future guests in this room to have the same experience. We enjoyed our stay at your hotel, the check was excellent, paperwork was prepared and we were granted a late checkout. The breakfast on Sunday was very disappointing, the dining room was extremely busy and there were not enough food or enough staff rostered - the staff that worked managed themselves very well and in a very professional manner. The breakfast on Monday was much more enjoyable with less people and again the staff were very professional and efficient. We really enjoyed our stay at your hotel and will definitely return hopefully with a better experience at breakfast.

Very good hotel and all staff were helpfull & friendly. Great location with easy parking and a short walk to Crown entertainment centre. My only criticism was the room alarm clock rang early the next morning and it was hard to stop when you're unfamiliar with its settings. Please ask staff to check the alarm clocks.

We arrived early on Sunday as we had just disembarked from our cruise, the staff were fantastic, they arranged for us to get into our room early, checked to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Each staff member we met was extremely helpful and very very nice, the room was excellent, with comfortable beds and bedding and an excellent shower, we had everything we needed, when we left early Monday morning the staff were also extremely helpful and polite.

I booked a package online, but for some reason was charged more than $100 extra on departure. I was not given a chance to review bill on check-out, so only discovered this by chance when I checked later. I called and it was admitted as a mistake and rectified, but this was enough to see me not come back again.

We really enjoyed our stay, the room was very attractive, amenities great. The bed was super comfortable and we had a free bottle of water waiting for us. We could change our pillow if we wish, they had a pillow menu. Breakfast was great!

My experience at the Novotel Melbourne South Wharf has always been delightful and very welcoming. There is such a warm feeling feeling when checking into the Novotel, it is always spotless and the staff are always accommodating. No matter which level or which room I’ve stayed in, I have never been disappointed. I find the rooms are always clean with a beautiful essence and the views are breathtaking. The room service has always been quite quick no matter what your needs are. Overall, it’s definitely a 4.9 out 5 stars for me. The only issue I have is the parking arrangements. If you’re coming and going frequently in the one particular day, it could become very costly. Other than that, I’m very happy.

No complaints at all. The staff were excellent in our very short stay. When ever I asked a question or checked in/out the staff were friendly and attentive and couldnt be more helpful. The rooms were stylish, modern and very new (should be expected for a new hotel). I was expecting a modern hotel, but it actually exceeded my expectations.
