« Disappointing but nice staff »

Had to move from first allocated room and then one I ended up with was set up for a family (extra bed set up making room cramped) and had an terrible smell. I would have asked to move again but I arrived late and just needed to go to bed

« Disappointed that on my arrival food was not available »

I traveled down from Manchester and upon arrival the bar I was told food wasn’t available and they didn’t even sell crisps. I had to order takeaway to the hotel . I got there at 10.05 I missed the main food by 5 mins

« Overpriced for what you get »

The room and bed were much smaller than I expected given I booked the "Superior" room. We also only got one towel/robe/slippers despite booking for 2 adults. The safe also didn't work. Also, the doors and walls appeared to be paper thin and we were woken several times by people in the corridor and could even here the people in the room opposite us. It wasn't helped that there was some sort of altercation late one night with people banging on doors up and down the corridor and lots of shouting. On Friday we decided not to eat in the restaurant as it was stiflingly hot so got some food and drinks from the bar as we could sit outside. I paid more than £10 for a gin and tonic only to discover the tonic was not kept in a fridge and the bar had run out of ice. We then ordered the burger and the fish and chips. The burger was okay but the portion of fish was tiny and rock hard. The next morning at about 10am when we went out to the gardens there were still drinks and plates scattered around the tables so clearly no-one had tidied up from the night before. Breakfast on the Saturday was disappointing : We were told to sit wherever we wanted but most tables had not been cleaned and there was no cutlery on the table we did choose so I had to steal some from another table. The juices were not cold and initially there was no fresh fruit although it did appear before we left. There were also no pastries. Nobody offered us any tea or coffee so I had to request some which then did arrive quickly. However, my friends asked for some and it took so long to arrive that it was cold when it did. Breakfast on Sunday was much better though. We then decided to explore the gardens which were nice, but in trying to follow the "trim trail" we ended up at a dead end at a large building with warning notices all over it and what appeared to be wrecks of various vans hidden in the undergrowth. We quickly retreated before we encountered the advertised guard dogs. We also tried out the pool which was pleasant as we had it to ourselves, however it was quite run down with big holes in the ceiling and water dripping into the pool from pipes. In summary, given I paid almost £250 for 2 nights and the prices of the drinks in the bar, it is very overpriced for what it is.

« Nice but disappointed »

Lovely looking hotel, warm reception. However only had us down for 1night instead of two and no breakfast included even though we had paid for this. Staff quick to rectify this. Had a pram and infant along with bags, no one offered to help with this despite staff knowing there was steps to our room and there being 3 of them at reception. No offer of a cot from staff either. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly, asked for a high chair and one came. On our return to the hotel after our day out our key didn’t work so had to go to reception for a new key although they said the key was working. When we got into our room we noted it hadn’t been made, bins not emptied etc no staff had been into the room that day. Attempted to ring reception but no answer on multiple attempts, had to walk back down to reception to inform staff of unmade room and was informed it should of been done. And duty manager was informed. Who came with fresh towels, emptied bins and apologised. Breakfast on checkout was again lovely and staff friendly and brought a high chair without asking this time which was lovely. Checkout was easy just handed over the key. Lovely looking hotel in a lovely setting and close to our event for the day, just few tweaks needed to get it up to the standard of setting it sits in. Me and my cousin would stay again as food and breakfast staff where lovely.

« Wedding »

We stayed here as part of a large wedding group on Saturday 4th August. The wedding was absolutely beautiful as was the location and grounds at Hunton Park. The food was delicious and the air condition in the room was amazing as it was so hot that day!! We were informed that the bar was open 24hrs howver at midnight they refused to sell wine and beer and they were only serving bottled soft drinks or ciders. the rooms are small but spotless and breakfast the next day was also lovely. i would definitely recomend this venue for a large function however not for a holiday as there is not much in the facinity.

« Friendly and welcoming »

All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The tea and coffee facilities for the breaks in my training were a little lacking and certainly not up to the previous time I visited when the hotel was De Vere. It seemed we were second class guests in comparison to the wedding guests. On our final day we were told we could not sit in the restaurant for lunch and were put in the unbearably hot conservatory with two ineffective fans and flies and wasps flying all over. Even when we asked to sit in the restaurant because it was unbearable we were not allowed. For the kindness of the staff I would recommend you. For the daytime hospitality sadly I would not.

« Nice facility with good parking in pleasant grounds »

I was good but maintenance is an issue.

« A pleasant and enjoyable experience »

The hotels facilities were good breakfast was varied and well cooked and executed .The room was well appointed with everything the traveller needed the only negative was that the air conditioning was not very efficient and consequently the room was not as cold as it should have been on one of the hottest days of the year. The addition of iron and ironic g board was a useful extra the bed was comfortable and the bathroom facilities were excellent. The staff were pleasant and helpful when needed but not intrusive .the general standard of the hotel was good although some upgrading is needed although I understand this is a work in progress overall my experience was a positive one and I would happily return to the hotel in the future and recommend it to friends and family.

« Dissapointing »

Room unbelievably small. No fridge, no safe, no complimentary bottle of water. Such a beautiful location and I will be surprised if I am the only one with these negative comments.

« Air con was a blessing! »

Lovely comfortable room with air con that kept us cool on a day that we saw 34 degrees! Shower was brilliant and bed was very comfy. Unfortunately I couldn't rate it any higher as we were there for a wedding and the marquee was like a greenhouse! As a 7 1/2 pregnant woman, sitting in humidity and hot air being blown around by air coolers just wasn't good enough. Not only that but I was served a hot glass of coke for full price and the drinks on arrival for guests were also boiling hot with wasps floating in them. A simple gazebo to cover them from the sun would have been fine or put them all in the boardroom where there was air con. It was a lovely setting for a wedding but just not accomdating for guests in a heat wave. Breakfast the next morning was lovely!

« Nice hotel lack of gluten free breakfast small room »

Nice room albeit it on the small side. No gluten free bread or cereal at breakfast. Only option was eggs or fruit.

« Comfortable but s long way to walk to rooms »

The room was very comfortable although a long way from Reception. Facilities were good but small touches let it down, for example, drinks from the bar were not cold and lemanode not fizzy. Breakfast was acceptable but plates were not hot, toaster not efficient.

« Complementary wedding anniversary stay »

Loved the grounds, room and dinner but was placed in amongst guests that were clearly there for a wedding. Wouldn’t usually complaint about this but was woken up at 2 in the morning by someone knocking repeatedly on a neighbours door and saying they were room service. This spoiled the whole anniversary as I didn’t sleep and left immediately after breakfast to get some sleep at home.

« Break »

Staff brilliant. More thought needed for wheelchair access, hot plates required for hot food. Room okay but more space needed for wheelchair. Lack of access for wheelchair & lack of access if an emergency evacuation was to happen. Removable ramps not acceptable access points, no way to access grounds as a wheelchair user, the staff did what they could but they were limited to what they had. I would have loved to go round the grounds & choose where I wanted to sit to eat other then on the veranda & get to the bar.

« okay »

most of the staff were very helpful and polite, but one member of reception staff seem uninterested and quite curt, not what you expect from reception staff.

As there is no opportunity to make these comments elsewhere in the survey I will make comment here. a) On check in Emily was on duty and asked if we needed help with luggage. She came with us to the car and carried bags all the way to our room. b) The bathroom is lovely, especially the dinner-plate shower head. However the towels are small and worn. Please consider providing bath sheets and larger hand towels. c) We were staying for a wedding and the staff were extremely helpful.
