« Not up to Fairmont standards. »

Nice room, up to Fairmont standard. The bartender was very, very nice. Checking was horribly slow. Line for checking was 10 guests long with only a single associate at the desk....while the concierge stood there looking on not helping a soul. We finally went up to the concierge and asked why he wasn’t helping. He slowly walked behind the front desk and helped check in. Very atypical for Fairmont. Took 25 minutes for valet to retrieve my car. Hmmmmm. Not up to Fairmont standards

« 4 AM False Alarm »

At 4AM , the fire alarm went off, rousing us and many fellow guests on the 16th floor - and at least one floor above. We walked down the 15 flights of stairs, got to the bottom, where it was another guest - NOT AN EMPLOYEE that told us "false alarm, we can go back to our rooms"; at no time did we receive an explanation or an apology.

The hotel is gorgeous. All the staff I encountered were helpful and nice. I would visit again any time. Would like to have a larger ice bucket in the room! The only drawback I can mention is the weekend morning food choice. We were not able to wait for the brunch buffet at 11. We did not want a huge breakfast, but would have liked to sit down for a bit. At 1030, when we tried to get food, we were told there were no breakfast options until the buffet started at 11, except for reheated food from the coffee shop. I believe that there should be a wide variety of breakfast options all morning at a hotel. If all I wanted at 1030 am was an egg, an english muffin and a coffee, I should have been able to get that, without waiting around for the buffet.

« Was ok minus the fire alarm and a half eaten cracker on the floor. »

There was a half eaten cracker under the bed in our room (we have kids and not something we want to see in a hotel room that was supposedly cleaned before we arrived and especially traveling without our kids) , and the fire alarm went off at 4am due to a guest using a vapor pen. Not what we wanted after a night away for a work Christmas party.

My husband and I were staying overnight downtown and joining 3 other couples for the Trail of Lights fun run. Check in was easy and quick even with all the people checking in at that time. Our room over looked the lake and was on the 30th floor. The room was comfortable and well stocked. We had drinks and an appetizer on the 7th floor, ubered to the trail of lights, walked to dinner, and ubered back to the hotel. We enjoyed a night cap from our stocked refrigerator and had breakfast delivered to our room. Breakfast arrived right on time and was hot and delicious. We enjoyed our room with a view until almost check out time. We live in the area but didn't to drive the 35 miles after an evening of socializing and drinking and this was a great choice!

It wasn't up to Fairmont standards. I prepaid for two rooms and 4 breakfast buffets. Upon arrival at the hotel, I was charged twice for breakfast (meaning, got charged again when I actually ate) and then had to try and explain (which took 15 minutes) that I'd already paid for breakfast and didn't care to pay again. Oh, and not really sure why the ENTIRE HOTEL needed to be evacuated (without using elevators) at 3:34 am because someone was smoking in their room - this seems a bit unusual. The information was provided by your staff, I'm not making it up. Perhaps you could've simply had someone go to the individual's room and deal with the problem.

I had a great experience while staying at the Fairmont. The staff were genuinely friendly with guests and generous with their time. The only frustrating part of our stay was frequently having no cell service in the hotel and our rooms. This makes communication to friends and family difficult.

This was our first time to your Austin hotel. We were impressed by the lobby Christmas decorations and cool elevators. Our room was very nice and quiet, which we love. It was a little crowded due to weekend holiday parties and weddings in the lobby bar and lobby area. We also had to wait for quite some time to check out, but it wasn't terrible.

At approximately 3:50am on Dec. 2nd the fire alarm sounded instructing my wife and I to evacuate immediately out of a dead sleep. We had to climb down 18 flights of stairs only to be told that it was a false alarm. Needless to say our night and sleep were ruined. With no apologies or compensation for our troubles. Not to mention both being physically sore from the 18 story climb down. I expected so much more from a first class establishment like the Fairmont. That’s my disappointment! Zacarias O.. Room 1823

Hi, I just recently stayed with Fairmont Austin, TX on December 1-2, during my stay all was fine until early in the AM when an alarm was going off telling everyone that there is an emergency and we need to exit the building immediately! We were staying in room 1761. Nobody at Fairmont Austin clarified for us what went on and left us in the dark about the alarm. The next morning when I went to Checkout the lady at Checkout mentioned nothing about it and helped us out in no way for our stay with Fairmont. I picked your hotel for it’s high ratings and for a good night stay because the company I work for was having a Christmas party downtown and it was also my birthday on this day, but unfortunately on this night my experience fell short and was mediocre at best. « Awesome »

Loved our first experience at the new Austin Fairmont. The staff on the 35th floor reception area of the club level were FANTASTIC and made us feel right at home! I need a bobby pin to fix my hair one evening for a wedding we were attending and the sweet girl working gave me hers -- right out of her hair! So sweet of her!
