Nice hotel, well appointed and nice communal areas, both inside and out. (Although wasps outside were a nuisance and fly's in the restaurant really annoying - in defence it was very warm and the windows were all open but maybe the aircon should be on with windows closed when it is so warm outside) Good selection of drinks in the bar and all hotel staff throughout were exceptionally friendly. Main evening menu was slightly disappointing and breakfast service was slow. (Staff seemed more interested in clearing tables than tending to guests orders) Poached eggs were overdone and toast was soggy from the eggs not being drained before serving. Coffee was warm at best. I will stay again as I believe it could be far better but there are very good alternatives in the local area.

Hotel had a wedding party staying the weekend we were staying but everything was handled brilliantly. Room was great, accommodating staff helped check in and book in for evening meal (this was requested at check-in as they knew the kitchen would be busy). Great room and facilities and fantastic breakfast next morning.

Bath plug did not work, 2 alarm calls I never asked for, key card kept failing returned on three occasions. Hooks for bathroom door would be useful as would soft close access doors into main corridors from outside.

I stay at the hotel a lot. Whilst the hotel has been given a face lift I think most of the old staff left and I'm not sure all the new staff are yet up to the level they should be. My room had been cleaned but towels had been left on the bedroom floor, a previous guests key card was not he side and the toilet was soiled. I didn't complain as it was late and I couldn't be bothered to move rooms. I asked for skinny fries with dinner and got the opposite - this isn't a big deal but it highlights the lack of attention to detail.

We found unclean cutlery at breakfast, litter bins unemptied in the grounds, and litter just outside the hotel's boundaries which gave a bad impression. Standards seem to have slipped since our last visit nine months ago.

I had two reservations each for one night on 17 July and 22 July. When arriving on the first occasion I was told I had no reservation as I had cancelled that reservation and there was nothing available; the attitude of the person at reception was most unhelpful and unsympathetic; I was more or less told to go away. After about 20 minutes of unpleasant arguing the person at reception looked up my exchange of emails with the hotel from it was clearly apparent I had confirmed the reservation and not cancelled it; at first the receptionist tried to pretend that the emails referred to the second reservation on 22 July although it was clearly apparent this was not the case. Ultimately the receptionist was forced to concede, blaming someone who left the hotel two days earlier, I had not cancelled the reservation and accommodation for the night was found. A most unpleasant experience On the second occasion there was no problem booking in at 3.00 pm but when we went to our rooms they were not made up; surely they should be ready by 3.00 pm. We therefore had to go downstairs and wait while the rooms were made ready. We ordered tea and this took a long time coming and the surrounding area in which we were sitting was most untidy as glasses etc. had not been cleared from lunch. The next morning breakfast was most unsatisfactory inasmuch there was a coach party staying in the hotel and they were just leaving and the buffet was in a most terrible state; the staff seemed quite unconcerned and appeared to do nothing even after we complained. It took at least 20 minutes for them to bring out croissants etc. Have stayed at Lambert Arms for a number of years but since Mercure took over last year it seems to have gone badly downhill. The bedrooms and bathrooms continue to be acceptable but I think there should be lavatory brushes in the bathrooms and, given the very hot weather, bottled water in the rooms would have been appreciated. I have stayed each year for a long time at The Mercure Hotel in Deauville at this is a very well managed hotel. You should get The Lambert Arms up to that standard

Excellent breakfast and dinner. Pleasant relaxing area outside, pity about traffic noise. Very spacious ground floor room and excellent walk in shower.both necessary for my disabled husband.Room rather dark, décor did not help. Overlooked car park so next time will ask for room on other side of courtyard overlooking field and hills. Pleasant and helpful staff. Welcome provision of disabled parking space.

A short overnight visit to family in the Oxford area. The Mercure Thame Lambert provided an ideal location in which to stay being with easy travel distance of London's main airports and the area around Oxford. The staff were very courteous and I felt well looked after.

Close by the M40 this comfortable recently upgraded hotel is very convenient for visits to the Chilterns and to Harrington Opera at Worsley. The bedrooms are spacious, the service is good and the staff are friendly and efficient.

This is the fifth time I have stayed in recent months. On this occasion everything was fine - room clean and comfortable, service good, breakfast good. On my two previous visits I had small issues, which deterred me from booking again so in the last month I have stayed elsewhere but I thought I would give it another try this week and it was much better. The issues on previous visits were: dirty plates on a tray outside the room on my arrival which were not collected by the time I left; being able to hear the TV from the next room (in the main part of the hotel); coffee machine in the breakfast room serving very sub-standard coffee. None of these issues occurred this time, and I had a nice jug of coffee with my breakfast instead of using the machine. The hotel is very convenient for a regular work commitment, so I shall be booking in again soon.
