Good food and drink, but room a let-down. Had to ask three times for something in the room to be fixed, no communication as to why it wasn’t fixed after first two requests!

The room was comfortable and quiet. The food for breakfast and in the evening was very nice. The hotel didn't seem to have a maintenance department as several things broke and it was the reception staff who had to deal (or not deal) with it. Staff were friendly.

Room was very comfortable, though bizarrely, the air conditioning was set to 28 degrees when we got in. Very quite and a good shower. Food in the restaurant was very nice but quite expensive and breakfast was very expensive so we didn't bother. We were walking the ridgeway and our trousers were a bit muddy and nobody commented or complained, which was nice.

Your staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast provided plenty of variety although there was a marked absence of yoghurts other than those based on animals (cows). Plant-based yoghurts would have been lovely. As a vegan, I was pleased to find that you provided soya milk and vegetarian sausages (although rather than being potato/carrot etc vegetable-based sausages I would have appreciated protein-based ones such as those made with tofu or seitan). It did seem rather incongruous that you went to the trouble of providing soya milk and vegetarian sausages (which were much appreciated) but didn't see the relevance of non-dairy spread for the toast or croissants. I must admit that it seemed an obvious over-sight. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Everything was exactly as it should be. The rooms were spotlessly clean and very well appointed, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and dinner in the restaurant was exceptional.

« Nice large room, friendly staff »

Unfortunately I was ill throughout the stay with flue spending most of the time in bed so could not enjoy the break as I would have liked having booked in a while in advance after having a stressful time and really looking forward to the break. Sadly it was wasted. But the hotel is nice, the room large and clean and the staff were very friendly. Best Hast Browns I've had for breakfast!!! But the Cream Tea we had on arrival was awful. The scones were still raw inside. I asked for it to be baked a little more and the next one came out a little better but still raw. Also Sirloin steak in restaurant in evening was tasteless. But didnt want to make a fuss as staff were so nice

We found the accommodation was satisfactory but the heating was not turned on until late after we said the air conditioning did not work. The staff were quite abrupt and not very welcoming. We booked via the Accor website and were not given a 50% dis out on our dining room dinner, even though we mentioned it.

« A pleasant stay, but the room was a bit cold! »

I had a pleasant stay, but the room was really cold on arrival and there were no instructions for the air conditioning / heating system. I had to ask reception in the end and it took a good few hours to warm up. I also managed to cut my thumb on the toilet flush, which had a jagged edge! The food in the restaurant was really nice and once the room had warmed up, everything was fine.

Nice outside building. Lady that checked us in was very helpful and nice. The interior of the hotel rooms needs a bit of TLC - paint and wallpapering etc. Our room had a very loud intermittent aircon buzzing noise. I had to turn it off by the switch inside the ceiling tiles in the middle of the night. When we checked out the guy said they were already aware of it. We had dinner there. Staff were lovely. Decor was really nice. Food was ok. We think the steak might have been frozen. I usually don't leave negative comments but felt this place has so much potential but it's like it's just been left to rot a bit. There is a gym room too (I know the hotel doesn't list one) that had it's door open and looked like time forgot about it. All a bit of a shame. The London hotel we stayed in of yours was very different to this one as it was really well looked after. We have to visit the area for business several times a year but unlikely will stay here again.

Upon arrival we were met by extremely friendly and courteous staff. Our room was lovely, with a very comfortable bed and extremely clean. Throughout our two night stay all the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We used room service for our evening meal and this was delivered speedily and the food was really good. My husband has Parkinson's and even though I didn't advise the hotel of this the staff seemed to pick up that he needed assistance. The lady at breakfast found him a chair which was easier for him to get up from. Another member of staff jumped up to open a door for us. These little touches showed me what wonderful staff are working at this hotel.

« Stayed many times worst one yet »

Well the bath was damaged , the shower pressure was low my wife could not wash her hair , then the breakfast was pre cooked and at 9 am already rubbery bacon etc we have stayed with you many times but will now look elsewhere . Room 117 .

« Not up to the expectation »

Was completely dissapointed with the quality of the property. Quality of the bed, the facilities and breakfast was not what I expected atthis category and price. Room was cold and heating was noisy and inneficient Matress was too soft, probably too old. I spend over 100 nights a year in hotels and do not get this disatisfied easy. I expected more from the Mercure franchise.

anyone walking in the corridor woke me up, it was like i was sleeping in the hall. heating not working in room, bathroom filthy. on arrival a key was shoved in my hand and was told 'I'm closing the end of day so im busy...'. wont be back.

« Lovely sized room,noisy cleaners early Sunday morning. »

It was a massive room,super comfy bed. What let our stay down was our room (101) was right next to a fire door which obviously leads to where the housekeeping keep their stuff so at 7-8am onwards on a Sunday morning the amount of banging,chatting away etc was disappointing as parents of 3 children & celebrating our wedding anniversary we hoped to have a layin or at least wake up by ourselves. Having said that we would definitely come again but would not pick that room.
