« Wonderful staff and delicious food! »

After a quick check in we went to our room and the first thing we noticed was a smell of drains in the room and a banging noise coming from the air con. We decided to call reception who immediately came over and offered us another room. It was a lovely big room with all you needed. We had dinner that evening which was delicious as were both our breakfasts and cream tea. The staff were all very polite and extremely helpful. On the second night we were woken by noise from the air con at about 3am this went on for the rest of the night. We mentioned this at check and they were very apologetic and said maintenance were in that day.

Very good experience with the exception of the bedroom. Asked for walk-in shower for slightly disabled husband, was told only two rooms in the hotel with that facility and already taken, instead was offered disabled access room on the ground floor so took that. What a disappointment, disabled toilet yes but also a shower over the bath and not a single handrail anywhere near. The result was that my husband was unable to have a shower during our sort stay there.

Good sized comfortable room, with a comfortable bed, in a quiet location. The buffet style breakfast was good. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The room was excellent and the staff very attentive in a good location for access to the local area. If you are looking for feedback then I will raise three points. The restaurant served a dish described as black bean and aubergine on the menu with black-eyed beans as a substitute and very, very little aubergine. Something had obviously gone wrong with supplies. The manager made amends by removing the item from the bill which is commendable but it spoilt the evening. The urge to say nothing and not make a fuss was insufficient in the circumstances. The lounge area which we had asked to use for extended periods for work was very draughty and cold on a January winter's day. The double glazed windows were not keeping the wind out. The heating was only addressed when another working couple in the room brought it to the attention of the staff. For the following session we transferred to the bar area which was better. The flooring in the room and bathroom looked as if it needed a deep clean.

Just stayed for Sat night thro sunday afternnon with a group.Food was very good. otherwise the hotel was a poor standard both in in structure and service. Even this web site is dysfunctional!!

« Good stay at the Mercure »

Very good exchange with the Front desk prior to arrival. I was only spending a night there with a late arrival and everything was up to my request. I did not lost any time at arrival, my room card was waiting for me and the room was has expected. I had trouble with the room ventilation and no explanation/ userguidelines in the room. it can also be say that soaps/towels and other goodies were not in profusion in the room (no shower gel just soap as an exemple) but it was enough for the stay. Most important quality of sleep was very good with the courtyard room and the bed was confy. I'm used to stay in many hotels ( gold status at Accor) and All in i will stay again to this hotel

We needed a place to stay near my family for Christmas and this was perfect. The only criticism I would have was that breakfast finished far too early on both days which were effectively holidays and let an otherwise good stay down.

Pleasant but some niggles and corners cut recently since takeover, eg room towels now much smaller and of obvious cheaper quality, now no water in rooms, some bathrooms need maintenance and noisy and inefficient heating system in some rooms.

« A Very Pleasant & Comfortable Stay »

Our stay at the Mercure for two days, our room was large and comfortable; particularly the beds which are so often hard and difficult to get much sleep in. As we did not use the hotel facilities on this occasion, we could not comment on these. The only down side was a proposed charge of £5 per person for room service, making the two bacon sandwiches we wanted to order almost £20, needless to say we did not order.

A fantastic hotel, very clean throughout. The room was perfect with everything you'd need for a short stay. Food was excellent though the beer was a tad expensive at £4.90 a pint. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and delicious and the service was very good. The only reason I didn't give the service 5/5 was because they forgot my drink order and my food arrived first. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I will be looking to book it again when I'm in the area.
