We're happy that we chose to stay with Grand Mercure Yangon Golden Empire. From check in to check out 5 days later everything surpassed our expectations. Food and Beverage Manager, Thiri Min Aung, was a complete professional and made every one of our requests possible. She made our stay very satisfying. All the staff are very excellent and we would definitely stay again and would recommend other to do so also. Food prices are acceptable however the drinks menu prices could be reviewed by management as they are slightly high. For example, USD $5.00 for a latte, although well executed, is far too much. The Sofitel at Inle Lake charges the same although it comes on a seperate tray with a biscuit on the side and a small glass of lime water to refresh the palate. Small touches like this would make it a contender for the pinnacle of hotel stays in Yangon.

Like: Good room with adequate lights, comfort bed, clean, variety of TV channels, including some channels from Thailand. Variety food for buffet breakfast - enjoy eating and drinking. I also like 4 bottles of 500 ml drinking water. Good fitness, but no chance to enjoy swimming pool due to it is closed. Don't like: 1) The check in process that asked for deposit. The room is booked under company account and the company guaranteed that they will pay for all expenses, including dinner. However, the front desk staff don't allow me to check in until I provided deposit 50 USD per night. I used credit card, but refused to sign due to I believed I will not need to pay from my own account. However, the staff did not agree. We kept talk for a long time for this issue. Too disappointed. 2) The staff told me wrong password to access wifi. I have to figure it by myself.

Overall condition is good. All the FO team, reservation, F&B & room service team are helpful, friendly and serviced-minded. Really appreciate for all. The only thing make us feel unsatisfied & disappointed was that the hotel itself uses low grade room & bathroom amenities even for 1-yr-anni package worth 100$. It is absolutely unacceptable for a 5star-upscale-hotel like grand mercure and it shouldn't be like that, even for LeClub memebers. When we told to the smiling and pretty FO lady who helped us show room-tour, she informed to her team about that. And they called and explained to me that they normally use ELLE-SPA products for normal-prized room but they down-grade for anni promotion even for LeClub members. The rules and regulations make us confuse. But what we appreciate and thank to the team is that they help us replace down-grade things with regular Elle-Spa amenities. However, it was a very nice and decent stay with great services of the whole team and the nice room itself make the good reputation of the upscale 5 star grand mercure yangon. I will defintely come and enjoy the great services again.
