« Excellent localion »

Very friendly and helpful staff. It's just a few steps from the historical downtown. The breakfast service was in turmoil with lack of replacement of dishes and food. Good bar service. Lack of care in maintenance.

« Internet complicada »

Internet connection system very complicated, with too much information requested. Room number, name and e-mail. Simplicity is key. I was told this system got complicated because in the recent past a group shared user and password information. So now, everyone needs to go through a more complicated process. Simplify, simplify, simplify.

« Never been so mistreated in my life »

The hotel staff can’t use the lê club (loyalty program) , but they have no trouble for the guest to suffer from it. The staff delayed the usage of points, misinformed me, used the points for the wrong purpose (generating an absurd credit) , had the guts to blame me for this, and refused to reimburse me. Besides that, the room and hotel quality doesn’t deserve the name of grand mercure

« Costly hotel that does not fulfill expectations »

First there was an issue with my reservation, which I had originally done for 2 adults and was listed as 1 person for the hotel. Since I had paid with points I wanted to also pay the rest of the difference with points, but the receptionist did not know how to do so. I had to go back to the reception on the following day where another attendant was there. Check-in took around 30 min to complete. Although the room was generally clean, when we arrived we noticed that close to the wall the housekeeper had swept the dirt to a pile and left it all there without removing it. We stayed for 2 nights and on the second night we did not have hot water for a shower. We communicated to the staff but it took so long to solve this issue that we had a cold shower anyway. Lastly the elevator did not go to the last floor, where the gym and pool are located, so we had to take the emergency stairs to get there. The whole experience at this Grand Mercure fell way short of my original expectations for a hotel of this caliber.

Unacceptably the check out task takes forever since front desk has to wait to someone to double-check in-room items, such as minibar, etc. I am sure you can do better to improve this, prevent clients to rush to the airport to avoid losing their flights. Cheers

i have been staying there for business. All fine and vey clean, staff very kind and precise. The laundry service very efficient. Only the breakfast hall too dark and not all the desk clerks are able to speak a fluent english.

The telephone was not working in my room and the small refrigerator apparently was turned off, and a bottle of water I grabbed was so stincky I had to request a replacement of them all. General impression is that the hotel is mislead in its classification as a 5 star.

I really enjoyed my stay at the grand Mercury Belem. The hotel appears to be centrally located and easily accessible to airport and local attractions. The staff indicated that this property was previously a crown plaza hotel. The check in experience was very easy, I would like to mention the front desk staff member Moises, who was very helpful in getting me checked in quickly and efficiently. The gentleman at the bar made a delicious caipirinha. The rooms were a little bit on the small side but quite fine for a single traveler. The breakfast was not included in the room rate, it was extra prepaid or paid at the hotel it was delicious and well worth the money. The breakfast selection included warm delicious favorites like Brazilian tapioca, delicious! Thank you to the gran mercure Belem team for a great stay!

« Lots of room for improvement »

1. Safe did not work. Dead batteries 2. Wi-Fi was useless in room 106. Improved after a router was installed in room 3. Woke up at 1AM due to heat. AC was set to 18.5 but actual temperature was at 23.5 4. Hot water in shower was far from hot. More like tepid. And this on both days.

« Good hotel, lacks character »

Staff at check-in was friendly, however they put me into a disabled room without asking me. I had to request a change of rooms which is always inconvenient after you put your clothes away. Breakfast in the room was fine, quite large just for one person. Facilities were ok, room was clean. Checkout takes too long.

It was an overnight stay at attend a Company meeting at the hotel facility. Room is nice and clean. Breakfast and lunch are satisfactory. Did not have an opportunity to enjoy other features of the facility.

My stay was pleasant and the staff helpful and considerate. The breakfast was excellent. We had dinner there one night and the buffet was very good. It was very conveniently located for our meetings and business.

« MEETING 8RM AND CBTP »

Good stay however a little disappointed with the quality of the best hotel suite. I have always stayed in the accor network hotels and normally the quality of the apartments and well superior. That's one of the reasons that maybe does not stay here in this hotel.
