A very enjoyable stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, there was some disruption caused by the late and very noisy arrival of a coach party at midnight on Saturday 2nd June.

« Rude receptionist. Noisy hotel (thin walls, household) »

The receptionist on our first day was rude, not even a smile. It seems that we disturb her. I asked for some things and it looks like I pissed her off. The hotel is not like a Mercure standard : really noisy because of the thin walls, and the maid made a lot of noise in the morning while doing the household.

« Great position »

This hotel is in a great position, just down the road from the beach, an easy 5min's walk. The rooms are nice, bit hot while we were there with the air conditioning still on winter mode so had to open the door to let cool air in - bit of traffic noise but better than being so hot. The food in the restaurant was not upto what we had read, we paid for breakfast to be included but had to eat out both morning as the food was horrible. Some staff were great and others were hard work, but we only really used the hotel to sleep in.

I regularly book a room here for brief stays during the week. The hotel is well placed and personnel has been consistently helpful and kind, even caring to fix my booking mistakes; the service is of good quality and the bar restaurant is above average if compared to what Viareggio and Lido have to offer. Rooms are thorn, however; the furniture (not the beds) is uninvitingly stained and we experienced either lightning or minor plumbing issues (leak, douche not working...) in most of our visits. On our last visit we had a rear room directly above the rear, service entrance and we had to ask another room because of prolonged noise starting from 5:30AM. We understand the hotel must provision food and clean linen but, perhaps, it could be done in another moment of the day (whenever rear rooms at 1st floor are occupied).

room was small... staff were friendly... breakfast was awful... eggs indeible.. no fruit....rubbish coffee, stale bread and croissants.... worst Mercure for food i have ever stayed in...swimming pool closed and that was not made clear on website... away from centre of Viareggio....

It was very difficult to access the hotel due to road construction. There are no meal possibilités at this hotel except breakfast. That is not good for clients arriving from the USA at night after a long flight.

« Not really a four star hotel but clean and well run. »

Our stay was OK, the hotel is well situated but overall is at best a 3.5 star facility. The rooms are quite utilitarian and the restaurant is soulless. It's a functional hotel but hardly worthy of four stars. The restaurant food is fine, pasta is very good. Wine list is good. Replenishment of breakfast foods is patchy but the staff are friendly and very helpful. The swimming pool pictures on the web site are quite outrageous and flatter a very small pool area which is not up to four star standards.

« Clean and Comfortable, but way out of town and not sure about those 4 stars.. »

Retired grandfather comes for 3 nights to relax solo by the seaside in early autumn, and achieves that well. I walked to this hotel 3km from the train station, mostly through a lovely green park. It is 400m from the sea front, where there are more than 8 km of beach to run on in clean fine sand; the sea is mild, almost 20 degrees in late September, but virtually deserted as a holiday resort. Thus I was able to walk and run and swim and that ticked all my boxes. However, the location is at the extreme end of ViaReggio, next to Lido di Camiore just across the river - if your business is in Viareggio, this might not be for you. The East-facing room 227 was quite adequate, with a balcony overlooking the back street and that green park, hot sun in the morning and adequate curtains and blinds to keep the room dark if needed. Air conditioning worked, but hardly challenging it in daytime temperatures up to 26C from 16 overnight. I left it off. Nice desk with adequate electricity for charging gadgets and the kettle. WiFi worked well, but you had to log-in each device again every time you wanted to use it, with login username and password on a slip of paper from reception on arrival. With a phone, a tablet, and a laptop, having to keep logging-in each time you pick up each device is not endearing, and you quickly realise you have now learnt by repetition a meaningless username-password pair you'll never use again. There is a good room safe: press two buttons on a keypad, put in a PIN number you choose, press enter, and it will close. Same exactly to open. It comfortable holds my MacBook 15" plus other flat stuff like documents and devices, wallets. Seemed reliable, although on the back of the safe door the batteries were held in place by black tape, not a proper cover. The bathroom was adequate. Nice rain shower with hand shower also available. You can use the hand shower to check the hot water has come through before you unleash the rain shower, but to do that you must press the selector button before you turn on the shower as it defaults to overhead; I had a couple of unexpected cold soaks that way.. Nice bidet, loo, wash basin, towels, all that stuff, together with Mercure's bizarre shampoo and gel tubes that you have to WRENCH to break the sealed top off, to gain access to the contents, and then the wrenched top screws back on like normal tubes do. Did I mention - NO TISSUES? Surprised to find a "4-star" hotel has no tissues in the room, and only thin camping-type plastic glasses in unbreakable polythene bags instead of proper glass glasses. Same in the adequate minibar, which luckily was not well stocked so was available for keeping fresh milk for making tea - the room has a kettle, a mug, and a weird selection of beverage packets, hot chocolate, herbal teas, instant coffee, but only two tiny UHT milk capsules - tea bags from the breakfast bar downstairs and milk from the shop across the river made for nice cups of tea several times a day, great. Breakfast felt like an Ibis, not a Mercure hotel. Tables were functional canteen stock, not 4-star hotel furniture. No luxury, room bustling busy with a coach-load of guests, a very cramped corner to access a hot drinks machine also accessed the cereals choice: only rice krispies, choco krispies, and cornflakes. Good selection of nuts and seeds to add in, though. This was a source of difficulty for guests who were constantly getting in each other's way because of this cramped layout. The service of removing used plates was excellent, thanks to a highly effective elderly waiter, but everything else was make-it-yourself, collect it yourself. Hot dishes were bacon, chopped frankfurter sausage pieces, and a large silver-lid hot dish of chunky scrambled egg. Fruit was canned peaches and prunes, with a dish of fresh apples and bananas; little cocktail dishes of diced melon and diced kiwi fruits were also available. Lots of different breads and pastries, butter - no other spreads - and jam portions, even Nutella. I chose not to eat other meals in this restaurant - it started at 7:30pm, too late for me. Overall - nice modern hotel, my rating 3 stars, not 4.

Hotel is a typical Mercure hotel, so you know what you get when you book this hotel. Free parking was included but a car is also needed as the hotel is situated pretty much outside of town. Hotel hosted two full buses which caused a lot of stress during breakfast, hotel staff seemed to be slightly annoyed by the bus groups and showed this also to other guests. All in all: Good Mercure hotel, price was at the upper end for what you get.

Everything was ok - except the position of the bicycle parking. Our 3 bikes got stolen. It might be helpful to move the bikestop to infront of reception into the light and into the camera-field.

« Nice place close to the beach »

Generally we had a nice stay, though the service in the restaurant was a dissapointment. Especially Maitre Vincenzo, a grumpy old man, seems to hate his job. He served us a welcome drink, which he called a "cocktail", In fact it was juice from a tin can, a ledt over from the breakfast buffet. Thanks to the other waiter and Maria at the reception for their fine service.

Nice location , convenient connection to beach but wifi is poor, bed is not comfortable and you can sink in shower after 10 sec of shower because of water ! Also you feel it is 3 stars hotel and not 4 stars- swimming pool is toooooo small unlike the photos on your web !!!

« Really Good stay »

Overall the stay was really good. There was an issue with the type of room we had booked but staff dealt with it extremely well and it was sorted to our satisfaction before we arrived. The only thing for us that could have been improved was the gluten free offering at breakfast. There was no gluten free bread available so we had to buy our own from the supermarket up the road. The chocolate cake bar provided was horrible. Only other gripe was the fact you had to repeatedly log on to the wifi network, this was really irritating.
