We booked a suite which was okay, but was rather surprised when booking in that they asked for full payment in advance despite having had our credit card.Perhaps that was the sign of things to come!Our first night was okay but the 2nd night the loud music was vibrating in our room (201) right through to midnight despite our complaining.We felt that this hotel does not represent the usual Accor 4stars and despite us paying 5star prices .

Good morning, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your first night with us. Sincere apologies that you were disturbed on your second night. We had a one off private event with an extended license. We were not aware that this would disturb hotel residents therefore based on your feedback we would not put someone in that room were we to do this again. With regards to the payment for the room, our policy is to take payment on arrival from all guests in order to ensure a speedy departure. New Northumbria is a privately owned hotel and is set up as an affiliate with the Accor brand. This is clearly noted on the Accor booking page. Kind regards, Lottie

Staff friendly and helpful, room comfortable and well thought out (if slightly worn-looking) food in the restaurant very good, especially the continental breakfast at £5.95. Only complaint was the lack of water flow in the shower. Nice and hot but definitely not invigorating. Value was excellent because of our Accor Partner offer. Location suited us as it was quieter than the city centre and the public transport connections were good - we didn't have a car.

« Ok for 1-2 nights »

Street house conversion on a very busy street, several properties linked together. Limited rear alley parking. Street parking available for 2 hours. Neighborhood was safe and pleasant. A few restaurants nearby, plus late night minimarkets. Generally we thought the rooms were overpriced. staff were pleasant enough. Nice breakfast but staff have not been trained in the traditions of hotel catering. Expected better at this price. Check in and check out quick and easy. No night bar for residents.

We are glad you liked the neighbourhood and thought it was safe and pleasant. On our website and booking sites we do state that we only have limited parking and it is first come, first serve. We however do our best to advise guests on alternative street parking but this also cannot be guaranteed. Our breakfast is served in Scalini's restaurant which is attached to our hotel, we will pass your comments onto their staff. We do not have a residents bar which is stated on the website and booking sites but we do have Osbornes bar, our adjoining venue, which is open until 11pm Monday-Saturday and 10.30pm on Sundays.
