Following an ordinary stay at the other nearby Accor property, we decided to move to this hotel for the remainder of our time in Nanjing, and loved every moment of it! The staff are extremely friendly and efficient, and a high level of English is spoken at the hotel. Loyalty recognition (Platinum-level) was great. We received a complimentary room upgrade and welcome drink vouchers without needing to ask for it (unfortunately many Accor hotels fail even at this stage). An early check-in of 11:30am was granted, and a welcome gift of a fruit plate and some moon cake was delivered promptly following check in. We did not require a late check-out. We booked a Deluxe City View room (their basic room) and received a two-level upgrade to a Signature Deluxe River View Room (which I think is just a Deluxe River View Room on a higher floor). The rooms are a bit small, but very well appointed. The bedside lighting controls allow you to set the lighting to suit the mood. The shower is a bit small. The room has a Bose music dock and a large working desk. The gap between the desk and bed made going for a midnight walk to the bathroom a little interesting, especially as the "foot" at the bed protrudes out a little from the frame, resulting in sore toes on occassion. The window was quite dirty (both the indoor and outdoor window), which took away the fantastic river sunset views only slightly. The hotel provides various cables to connect your devices to the TV system, including HDMI, which was very convenient! The hotel WiFi also has a built in VPN, which is pretty convenient. Wi-Fi speeds are decent, without being great. FOOD Fairmont does not grant access to the Fairmont Gold lounge to platinum members, so our Platinum-inclusive breakfast was instead provided in the restaurant. The buffet is very large, and the offerings are delicious, however during peak time, we found that many dishes were empty and took quite some time to replenish. We were staying during the Golden Week national holiday, so I assume there was a 'higher than usual' number of guests. Though the staff provided initial service of coffee and tea, staff did not come to ask if you wanted a top up. The meals in the Vancouver Grill restaurant are of excellent quality, though pricey, and the Accor Plus discount is only 30% for two people, though we were advised about this upon making our reservation. I believe standard Accor Plus discount rates apply in the other venues, though I am not 100 percent certain on this. LOCATION The Fairmont is located in the Wuxi financial district, which is in the south of the city, however there is a Metro station 100 meters away from the hotel with access to Line 2 and 10 that can get you into the city conveniently. The hotel is very located for access to Nanjing South Railway Station, which is the city's main high-speed railway station. After checking out, I realised that my credit card had been charged using Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) by default, and I was never offered a choice to pay in Chinese RMB or my home currency, which is in violation of Visa and Mastercard terms and conditions. DCC transaction exchange rates, by my calculations, are usually approximately 4% worse than standard transactions, which is a significant percentage. To the hotel's credit, from the time that I sent an email to the hotel regarding this issue, only 48 hours had passed before I had received a satisfactory resolution to my concern. Thank you very much to the proactive Front Office team, especially Killian Huang, in their prompt handling of my issue. However, I hope in the future that the hotel will offer guests the choice of transaction currencies. Overall, we had a fantastic stay at the Fairmont Nanjing. We definitely would return to the hotel, and intend to!

First of all the room seemed to be high tech but it was really hard at night to find those buttons for the lights, the concept looked fancy but actually a disasters. The food quality was ok but the staffs who served those food was absolutely lacking of knowledge and untrained.
