« Fantastic hotel, great staff »

It is very rare that between entering the premises and leaving the hotel there is almost no development needs that one can address. But this is the case with this hotel. Nevertheless I'd loved to see and exprience the Executive Lounge, which unfortunately was closed. Strongly recommended!!! Exceptional experience. A special admiration to the professionalism, friendliness and great humour of Matei, Director of Rooms.

It was my first stay at Fairmont. Before i always choose Swissotel. Rooms and service were good but i was quite disappointed that I was NOT allowed to use the Lounge even being Platinum member. Room upgrade at least was appreciated.

We were met at the airport and transported to the hotel. When we couldn’t find a restaurant (in office building across the street a bellman personally escorted us-it would been impossible to find without him. Superb customer service!

We stayed at the Fairmont Beijing for the first week of 2019. We had 2 x Fairmont Gold Junior Suites on the twentieth floor, one for us and one for the three teens. Unfortunately, it seems that children only stay free if they sleep in existing bedding, unlike the other Accor hotels we stayed at in China. We were informed that it would be an extra 500 CYN for a rollaway bed (AU$100) per day for my son; we quickly decided that he had to share with his sisters! We were met at the front door by the wonderful Eric, a concierge staff member who is a magnificent ambassador for the hotel. He quickly whisked us up to the priority check-in on the 20th floor and then checked in with us daily to make sure all out needs were being met. Rooms were exactly as described and pictured. They were spotless, beds and pillows were superb. Internet speed was good, you need to BYO a VPN. The kids and I LOVED the heated massage chair in each suite. Hotel was a 2-minute walk from a subway station. The LUNAR 8 restaurant was large and offered a great selection for gluten intolerant guests; magnificent selection for all others with no allergies. The Peking Duck was superb! The restaurant was spacious with lots of seats and alcoves however it was heated to an extremely uncomfortable temperature. It was -16C upwards outside, why does the restaurant need to be heated to 30C+? Along with wonderful international and Asian buffet staples, there was a distinctly French flair to many dishes. Another wonderful staff member, Eric enjoyed telling us the history of local places, and when he found out I was a teacher, found me promotional material with lovely photos to share with my class. The executive lounge was FANTASTIC, an extensive selection of hot and cold canapes as well as main courses. There was a vast selection of red and white wines as well as spirits and mixers. The highlight of our stay was the service from the Gold Team on the 20th floor, especially Selina and Erin. Nothing was too much bother, and all requests were met quickly. The staff of this hotel make it! I loved how they organised our late checkout, storage of luggage and a table in the lounge with privileges until our transport arrived. I would highly recommend the Fairmont Beijing and can't wait to stay again.

We're happy we chose to stay at the Fairmont Hotel because everyday of the 5 nights we stayed in Beijing, the staff never ceased to delight us in some way or another. Right from the doormen and porters, to the Front Desk [especially Norman who checked us in], to the House Keeping staff, F&B Services and Concierge Desk [Apple & Hans], everyone carried out there tasks in an exemplary fashion. Moreover almost every staff member at the Hotel speaks English with varying proficiencies, which is sincerely a welcome change from the excruciating difficulties non Manadrin speaking tourists face in China [yes even at 5 star luxe properties!]. The Hotel is located walking distance from a metro which connects one to many crucial Beijing attarcations without having the hassle of changing lines/trains. There is also a mall, mini marts and eating places in the vicinity. Moreover the staff is always ready at hand to call guests a taxi or private car. The rooms at the Hotel [even the base category accommodation] are spacious. The beds are comfortable and the in room amenities are top notch. Housekeeping does a very good job of keeping everything in order and replenishing amenities daily. Rooms here offer both showers and bath tubs. If I was to list one major problem in the rooms we were allocated, it would be the aging carpets. Other than, we had no cause for complaint whatsoever. Another plus was the peace and quiet one could experience at the Hotel, which is rare in a busy city like Beijing. The Fairmont experience is great, the team are usually fantastic and I always feel welcome. However when the Gold lounge is down for renovation the touch of using the perk of gold lounge was a negative experience, the service (not all) for breakfast was simply not there, the lobby bar did not provide the feeling of exclusivity, and I did not find that value for money.

Everyone goes out of the way to introduce themselves......and help u if you need it......always stay here on my trips to Beijing........Great staff.... The only thing that could be done better......is the room service line.....and english speaking room service.......phone is busy a lot..........I think a phone rings through to a cell phone of someone that is working room service......maybe a process change would help out on this.....

« Great location but slightly tired hotel »

The staff of the hotel are excellent and provide great customer service. The hotel is beginning to feel rather tired. This is particularly apparent in the bathroom, which has worn fittings (the plating having worn off in places) and poor hot water supply (it was impossible to fill the bath with sufficient hot water, even when supplemented by kettles of boiling water). The other major problem is that, for some reason, Fairmont hotels do not give Accor Platinum members access to their executive lounge and I was unaware of this prior to arrival. The staff were terrific and did their utmost to ensure I was happy. However, I do not understand why an Accor brand does not recognise its most loyal customers in one of their premium brands. It's certainly not because the Fairmont Gold Lounge is better than Sofitel or Pullman executive lounges. While I remain a Platinum card holder, I shall avoid Fairmont hotels.
