« The staff made the experience superb »

With such competition in the luxury resort market these days, it can be difficult for properties to stand out from the crowd. Fairmont Sanur Beach achieves this and more. Although the resort itself is well located and the rooms and facilities are what one would expect in this price bracket, what clearly placed the Fairmont very high in our estimation was the staff. Friendly, courteous, always willing to help ....... not one member of staff, from the gardeners to the managers, failed to greet us each day with a smile. Never did we feel neglected nor, conversely, over-serviced. Our every need was met quietly and calmly, one or two tiny hiccups were dealt with immediately and our stay in the resort can simply be described as being made to feel like family. I cannot over-emphasise how wonderful the staff are and they deserve to be recognised for the excellent service they deliver. Our stay was extended (thanks to Mt Agung!) and the front of house were very accommodating to ensure the days we remained unable to leave Bali didn't break the bank! If you are seeking a destination where beautiful serene grounds unfold to one of the best waterfront infinity-edged pools in Sanur, the Fairmont and it's staff will exceed your expectations.

« A Luxurious Stay »

Everything within Fairmont Sanur Beach was perfect. I have stayed at many places where I have said that the staff were very cheerful and helpful, but those at Fairmont were truly exceptional. The room was very spacious, and the balcony area just as spacious and enjoyable. I was pleasantly surprised with the luxury Le Labo Rose 31 shampoo, conditioner and other body products in the bathroom. I'm not normally a big fan or rose scents, but this one I liked. The breakfasts were huge - standard fare like bacon, eggs, cold meats, vegetables and fruit were delicious and plentiful, and the coffee was great, but each day also had seven or eight different Asian and European meals to choose from as well. As I sleep less than my wife, it was extremely handy having a spare TV in the balcony where late at night I watched many movies on the satellite movie channels - but it did lead to my only complaint when I was leaving. I said, "You have Fox Movies and Fox Sports, how about having Fox News too? Every other news channel you have hates Donald Trump". The pool area was fabulous, and my wife and I often made use of the Happy Hour in the upstairs afternoon tea area, where we often ate our favourite snacks of French Fries and Satay sticks. The other feature was the two chaps playing their Balinese bamboo instruments every afternoon at 3pm. At first they sounded unusual, but after a few days they became a real treat that both my wife and I were looking forward to. We also made use of the very handy shuttle service to the supermarket/department store 1.5km up the road, though there were quite a few shops close to the hotel on the main road, and behind the hotel along the beach path, where I would be constantly going to buy UHT Chocolate Milk and UHT Coffer drinks for our fridge. But what we really appreciated was the constant number or people cheerfully visiting our room to do beds and towels in the morning, then to check snacks, then to check drinks in our fridge, then to give us bottled water, then to turn down our beds and lower our balcony blinds - often followed next day by phone calls to see if we were happy with the service and if there was anything else we wanted. People were going out of their way to make us feel special wherever we went.

Our experience was very, very good until we were unable to fly home on our designated date. Because we were happy with the Fairmont it was our choice to stay with you, but your lowest possible price was just far too high. We managed two nights but had to go because we are retired and could ill afford to stay. Speaking to others their Hotels dropped their prices accordingly and so had very happy customers who are only too happy to return to the same place.

Overall stay very good. Loved the room. Palm tree was blocking ocean view though. Would have preferred 4th floor. Laundry was brought back later than promised. Took a couple phone calls to get all our pieces back. Breakfast was very good. Had pizza by the pool and it was terrible. Tasted like frozen boxed pizza. Should have ordered from Massimo's that day. We found service by the pool a little hit and miss. One day we saw them serving complementary fruit to some guests. When we asked if we could have some, we were told they only make 20 pieces/limited supply. A little unusual for a 5* property. We enjoyed our stay, and would come back. Could improve with friendlier pool side service and food quality. For premium laundry price at resort, shouldn't have to chase down our clothing.

All was good up to the practice tsunmai evacuation. We were not informed and thought it was an actual evacuation. We had asked to staff at that point if it was a drill/real and asked for facts. They said yes an earth quake in sumatra in the water and a tsumani was on its way to us. I was about to call my husband to say goodbye in case I did not make it. I was terrified. A woman came up and immediatly said to us it was a drill. I have higher expectations of the Fairmont, I’ve traveled be world with you, in the presidents club for year and honeslty that was poorly executed. For future, when you check in to be told, a sign by the elevator or entrance. Something other than a letter at night thst was not seen.

So overall things were fine, however the restaurant wait staff often could not understand enough English to communicate properly. With the Exception of Lyang Manis or Mavis she was exceptional and was always available to look after us and explain to the other staff. Our first Villa 703 leaked in 3 places and after trying to fix twice over 3 or 4 days they moved us to 807 a 3 bedroom villa which was very nice and much appreciated.

« Disappointing and inappropiate for 5*! »

The hotel complex is beautiful and staff is very friendly. However, it seems like its best times have already gone. Cracks in the wall/ceilings, dirty sunbeds, mold in the shower...But let’s go one by one. First impression of our room was quite good. But only then we realized how dirty the bathroom was - they literally cut every corner and we found some huge spider webs. Then we learnt that a 2min shower would float the bathroom and you would stand in water in the toilette. Afterwards we found out, that the reason was not a clogged drain but poor construction. The sink is higher than the floor! So water would always float the bathroom. We end up in 2min shower, 2min break, 2min shower etc. During that time we were disgusted by the mold in the shower! Of course we made our problems clear at the reception. We complained 2 times. Room service did their job but of course they would not be able to solve the shower problem. And they did nothing against the mold.. The second disappointment was the beach. When you sit there in the sea, you will be soon surrounded by lots of waste, old plastic bottles and other stuff that was never meant to swim in the sea. The hotel must have an eye on that! Same with the infinity pool. One site is higher then the other one and water does not splash over this place. All the greasy, dirty water is be collected in this corner. When we checked out and told about all this experiences, we got 10% discount on our consumption. It wasn‘t worth that. And not very generous compared to all the issues we had.

Lovely hotel and staff and very efficient. Unfortunately there were too many things wrong with our room to make our stay entirely satisfactory. 1) The telephone did not work, I had to walk down to reception to inform someone. It was repaired quickly but the red "message' light continued to flash for the duration of our stay. I rang reception many times to ask if there was a message for me but was told there was not. 2) One of the fans did not work, the other was only going quite slowly. They were repaired but after that neither went very fast and did not cool the living room area enough to be comfortable. 3. There was no price list for food items/snacks in the room, I had to request one. 3) I could not get hot water to run in the bath. I tried several times over the evening. By the time I informed reception I was too tired to have it looked at (as was suggested) as it was quite late in the evening and we had already been disturbed by maintenance people in the room fixing the phone and fans. The water problem was fixed the next day and I finally had a bath on the second evening but I was disappointed to find that the water was only warm not hot. 4. Service at the pool restaurant was very slow. We went there for a late lunch (about 4pm), hungry after our journey and arrival. We were the only people in the restaurant as far as I could see. Our food took almost half an hour to arrive. 4. I believe there was an error on my bill. I have emailed the hotel separately about this matter.

My wife and I had a great time, staff were very friendly and the accommodation great. The location was ideal to be able to walk most places. Very minor criticism was the pillows were too soft, although my wife liked them. Thanks to all the staff.

I have to thank in particular the wedding organiser anika who made our day very relaxing and ran so smooth I didn't have to do a thing! And the hotel staff where so helpful and fast in all there service which made our stay even more wonderful, the villa was beyond amazing and made a great home away from home for our young children. All in all the best vacation and best resort we have every had even though it was hot everything else over shone that! Thank you again!

The staff were fantastic, always friendly and ready to help and accommodate any request. The food was delicious, tasted very fresh and flavourful. Room was comfortable and serviced thoroughly. Loved the massages, perhaps the one of the best massages I've had. Pool was relaxing and never too crowded. Location was perfect, with plenty of beachfront restaurants within walking distance. Our 7 month old son was treated beautifully and given lots of attention and love :)

A very pleasant stay, attentive staff, relaxing atmosphere, excellent swimming pool, delicious food and excellent spa. Enjoyed the cooking class and market tour. Having access to bicycles was also another good feature of the hotel. The lounge area in the room indoor/outdoor area is an excellent feature of the suites and a very relaxing space. We will visit again.

I have traveled the world and stayed in a variety of 5 star hotels, but I can honestly say this is the best ever. The decor, quality, size and design of the rooms, the staff who’s service is impeccable, the location (Sanur is picture perfect and so beautiful) and the overall feel of the hotel is AMAZING.
