Enjoyed . However, I was disappointed that the Lodge pool was being refurbished . It was a bit of an inconvenience to go swim a the main hotel swimming pool . There should have been a notice on the website then would have preferred to postpone my trip.

« Not what I expected from Zimbali Fairmont Lodge!!! (And not in a good way) »

On arrival in our room we found that our air conditioner was not working! The next morning we informed reception of this fact and just before we left our room to attend a wedding someone arrived to repair it. On our return at 11.15pm the table in the dressing room was in the centre of the room, a ladder into the ceiling (which was still open) and all my personal belongings were moved to my bedside table. Not acceptable!! No compensation for our discomfort was offered either!! Also we had to walk a number of times because the golf carts just failed to arrive.

I was very dissapointed to get to the hotel only to find out that the swimming pool is under renovation. It is such a beautiful place but the construction look killed it for me totally. No beautiful photos, no relaxing next to the pool in a beautiful surrounding. i specifically booked at the Lodge as I didn't want to be surrounded by hundreds of people; the beach club and hotel facilities therefore did not make up for the renovations. I would not have booked at Zimbali if I had any prior knowledge of the pool renovation and believe that this should have been communicated before.

I realize maintenance must be done but the lodge's pools were under construction. Their is no decent restaurant at the lodge like in a few years ago. In my opinion the lodge is not a shadow of what it used to be 10 years ago.

Many times its the small things that make the difference and my comments are here to hopefully make it a better experience for the next person. We arrived Thursday afternoon to a warm friendly greeting in a very beautiful place& checked into the Lodge. It would have made it much easier for us to have a larger more detailed map of the area,to know the layout etc, The TV was on with a select few channels , most of which were hazzy, perhaps because the kettle was positioned right below it &had started to effect the electronics? Not a wise place to put a kettle.The Fairmont Zimbali channel could be a lot more informative The Ciro instant coffee was not pleasant at all ,first I thought it was the water and milk, but after purchasing fresh milk and water it remained the same. I suggest Ciro Alliances change the stuff they supply as it puts one off ever buying their product. The very comfy bed had only one bedside table on one side ,so you would need to put your spectacles and phone etc on the floor ? No sign up to say keep your sliding doors closed because of monkeys raiding your room, it did not happen to us ,but better communication in the rooms would be nice .Also after room is cleaned please close and lock the sliding door, ours was left unlocked.Sitting on your veranda would have been a better experience , not having to see or hear your neighbor sitting on there side. There was a musty smell in the room, probably from water that had been spilled on a carpet previously . There was only one wine glass in the drawer which house keeping should have noticed ,but it never changed in the 3 days we were there. There seemed to be a storage room next to our unit and on 2 occasions late at night there was knocking about in them as if furniture was being moved around, not pleasant. The guys that drove us around in the buggies were super friendly,helpful and efficient and made up for the short comings , thanks Rickie,Shaun and Hector. My round of golf was a great experience . My wife's pedicure however left a bit to be desired , with no "toe spacers"available, a rolled up tissue was used which did not work at all as her polished smudged , she mentioned that the seating was uncomfortable and awkward , disappointing for an upmarket establishment that tourists come to experience. Eisch guys , what a great setting with lovely staff , a few things to focus on could improve your guest's experience,regards from a cold Cape Town .

Extremely friendly staff, helpful. Quality room, everything we needed as well as good housekeeping. Upper class facilities, excellent food at Thandi, willowstream was excellent. Unfortunately avo was hard on our 1st visit to 31 and at Bite, i was recommended the mexican mojito from the waiter, but when i received it they didn't have all the ingredients.

I loved the place as soon as we entered the premises and I felt uor holiday begin. The setting is superb and being a nature lover, I appreciated the preservation of the forest. The view from our room was fantastic. The freshness of the morning air is unforgettable. A great place to stay, with very helpful staff and good food. We will be back.

I was disappointed that although I was promised that maintenance on the pool would only begin after our check-out on the 18th, the maintenance began anyway. When I was promised this, it was when I was about to cancel our booking as I wasn't happy about the maintenance - so this was a lie in order to get our booking. Besides this, the stay was pleasant although the lack of room service for snacks is a bit bothersome.
