Only a very short stay but everything I would expect from a Fairmont Hotel. My room was beautifully furnished and the entire hotel was extremely elegant with beautiful gardens. Breakfast in a lovely dining room with an excellent choice of dishes. I cannot rate the hotel highly enough and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends.

« Rooms too old, front desk, especially Faith, incompetent »

Extremely overpriced for this kind of service and amenities. Rooms are way too old and not well maintained. Some new additions but not properly installed. The reading lamps’ light bulb easily fell off. The front desks ladies are cold faced and incompetent, especially Faith. She was horrible at customer service. My wife asked a bottle of water at check out for our son, she said you can go back to your room to get one. What? We only got 2 bottles of water during our stay, and what makes her think it is enough and we can have extras. Or, she said we can go to the bar and pay for one. Where is the customer service? She messed up our booking for the airport drop off,l and quoted us a much highe price than what we were told the day before. And worse, she told us the car we booked was not available. Really? Finally her collegue found our booking.

« Reservation made and confirmed was not there on arrival and we got a room just by accident cancelation of someone else »

The hotel is great. I trusted it for so many business and personal trips. This time however the reservation experience was prone to so many mistakes that I had to catch and fix, including the very last moment surprise of "your reservation is for another dates" (this with the fact I booked through the same team another Fairmont property in Kenya for the dates - so I should be in 2 places same time according to their records). Definitely not the standard I would expect from the property and the chain.

« Outstanding stay due to the tremendous service at the Norfolk »

Stayed in Nairobi, as a short stopover in route to the Fairmont Mara Safari Club. Spent two days in Nairobi and couldn't be more satisfied with the tremendous service of staff. Of particular mention are two individuals; Ann Mwangi in the concerierge office and Nicholas, our private driver for two days. Due to a last minute flight disruption we had to change a variety of activities to include our flights to the Masai Mara. Ann was simply fabulous in her personal support and let no detail go unnoticed. She is an outstanding example of service for the Fairmont brand. Likewise, Nicholas ensured our visits to the local sites were timely and safe. Both of these employees deserve special recognition.

From the very beginning of our stay to the last night the Fairmont Norfolk staff were womderful, catered to our every need and were always friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurants was exactly what was needed after a week on safari and the drinks were delicious.

Bar,lounge,dining area excellent. Room was very cold had to request a floor heater but it was very weak and took 12 hrs or more to make a difference. Staff very friendly and tried to be helpful.
