When one thinks of Raffles a certain expectation comes to mind; when one thinks of Five Star hotels one has a similar expectation - sadly our stay at Raffles Hotel Le Royal did not live up to either. Our arrival was prompt and friendly and handled very professionally as indeed all the staff were professional and helpful. Sadly the building is now starting to show its age, the corridors are ‘ institutional ‘ in appearance with no warmth of any description; just stark Black & White floor tiling. Our room (291) had a quiet pool view but this was really it’s only redeeming feature!! Everything about the room felt, to us, unclean and the bathroom is in dire need of refurbishment and upgrade; we had chipped and cracked tiles, mould around grouting, a shower head that sprayed all directions ( due to being calcified ) the wooden toilet seat was old and felt dirty, chipped enamel in the bath tub. All in all NOT what we paid for nor expected, a huge disappointment. The only good thing we can praise on some level is The Elephant Bar where the staff were exceptionally friendly, despite service being painfully slow!!! We waited approx 20 minutes for two bottles of beer to arrive at a time in the bar when there were only two other sets of guest! Again, is this what you expect from hotels at this level? We don’t feel that this stay will result in any form of repeat business and neither do we feel able to recommend this hotel to our friends.

I had a lovely stay, however I do think the shower in the bathroom could be better and my room was on the street side of hotel and very noisy so didn't get much sleep.

It's below expectation as the room is old and is not completely furnished (e.g. the light bulb is out of order). The breakfast choices are limited. The staff has not been very helpful.

A very good experience. The staff were excellent as was the breakfast provided. After check in I requested a quieter room. The staff were very accommodating and I moved to an internal room within an hour.

My experience with Raffles was hit and miss. My first stay for a week was warmly welcomed, but my room had a broken thermostat which was immediately fixed after reported. Fruits/tea/coffee were missing to be refilled in some of the days. The TV channel list was mostly incorrect. Water dripping under the bathroom sink was noticed on the last day and reported at the checkout. The credit of Le Club points has yet to be posted after two weeks. Overall, the stay and services were pleasant. My second stay only for a night a week later was not welcomed when I stood to check-in at the counter and was given a room with dripping air condition at 8 p.m. It was a busy day with a wedding reception. A team of two coming into the room to fix the a/c could not communicate in English. I did not know what was going on and went down to request another room. The staff kindly upgraded the room for my overnight stay. My second experience was good but not memorable regarding services except for your facilities and surrounding. Raffles should better keep all the aging rooms in a good condition. Will I stay again? Yes, given its proximity to meeting places.

Like the design which is classic, hospitality is good, food is ok Just minor feedback, water keep dropping in my room from the air conditioner. Aside of that, was a great stay. Thank you !

« High expectations for Raffles brand, however not met.. »

I used to work with Raffles International more than 15 years ago to build the Raffles brand including marketing for Le Royal. And I am fortunate enough as a frequent business traveller to stay in a number of 5 star hotels. However, I was disappointed that Le Royal did not meet my expectations as a 5 star hotel. (1) the property is sorely in need of refurbishment/renovation, case in point - my toilet flush system was faulty, the water wouldn't stop flowing after flushing. Fortunately, the engineering team was available in the middle of the night and managed to fix it promptly, the saving grace. (2) In most of the 5 star hotels I have stayed in, amenities - shampoo, shower gel, vanity kit are replaced everyday by housekeeping with new ones regardless of amount left in existing amenities. My shampoo and shower gel were almost empty but were just rearranged in the shower with no new replacements, my ear buds were finished but no new vanity kit. I've experienced this in 4 star hotels and usually this could be due to hotel management saving costs or dishonest housekeeping staff pocketing the amenities rather than putting them into the room - I don't know which is the case here. (3) what's wrong with the phone? Pressing "butler" or "reception" button do not work - you get this beep beep tone. I had to figure it out for a while, fortunately pressing zero worked - when I needed to get the engineering guys to come fix the toilet the first night. (4) on check out day, the lift did not work! Fortunately, I got one of the housekeeping guys to help me with bringing my luggage down the stairs - back to the need for refurbishment point. (5) when checking out, my invoice indicated that I was from China (which I did not appreciate) despite the fact that you already had a photocopy of my passport when I checked in, and you had my loyalty card number. I may be ethnically Chinese, but I am certainly not from China. Unless these can be addressed in future, I will be looking at checking out the Sofitel Phnom Penh in future which I hear is newer but I'm hoping the service would be better - and that I will have shampoo and shower gel replaced daily. But then again, it's still okay for Accor I guess - left pocket, right pocket now that you own the Raffles..

Beautiful looking property from the outside and I was so excited to stay- service was excellent but rooms are really tired first room we had, had a leak and my suitcase and clothes got wet - it was dealt with swiftly, the room we finally were put in was a nice size room no view except of a roof, couch had dirty marks on it and the bathroom really needs to be updated it is very tired, first day there were no toiletries and then when we did get the quality is not of a 5 star hotel. Sun loungers around the pool are really very uncomfortable again they could be updated. Breakfast was superb as well as the service in the restaurant cant fault it at all. Overall I am glad I stayed in this hotel even though we had the mishap with the room and a slight issue with the organizing of the hotels private car and the rates we were quoted and then what was on the final bill- this was all sorted out in the end in a professional manner. Enjoyed our stay.

Your staff are so fantastic.. friendly accommodating, warm. Particularly the elephant bar staff. The hotel is beautiful and the food was very good. The pool area needs a bit of attention, the pool beds are tired and the pool area is limited to sun. The room was nice, the bathroom especially the shower as in no water pressure was disappointing. It was the staff that made our experience an enjoyable one
