Swissotel Grand has been my hotel of choice with each visit to Shanghai. As a business traveller Comfort , Location, Accessibility, and Convenience are paramount. Swissotel is in the heart beat of the Jing An district, close to City centre, nearby restaurants, cafes and shopping precinct, with 3-5 minute walk to Metro station to visit many of the attractions of Shanghai. The best thing is the staff and service. I was welcomed by the duty manager Leo Yang and warm service continued at all levels during my stay. A special mention to Carol Gao which made us feel at home.

In general I am very impressed by the staffs of their helpfulness and sincerity. From Concierge: Ralf and Vincent are very professional, In particular there is a junior staff: Albert, he is very sincere and polite. Your Reception desk and Executive Lounge are excellent: Carol, Lisa, Darcy are always very professional and sincere: Tender with care: eg. Darcy will put two cans of Pesi cola during my breakfast without my order, because she notices my habits; Lisa will prepare a cocktail for me in the evening of which I have taught her few months ago. Carol will ask my comment and then, she will feedback to the management for seeking improvement., for instance she understands I have special needs about the density of the pillow. (In my recent stay, I can recognize the Pillow cases are very new and White!!!! Excellent! The front desk managers: Andy, Robin, Leo, Jack and Freya are all very sincere. Sometimes, I have observed that they treat all customers with the same attitude (not only to the old customer!!) Junior trainee is Henry has very nice attitude and willing to learn! Mr. Fan (the part-time helper at the Executive Lounge ( is super nice!! I wonder if he could become your permanent staff (A valuable Assets for your company!) In addition: Jack at the 5th Floor Spa is very professional and also provide Gym knowledge to the guests sincerely! Lastly, Luke from Reservation Center is very helpful in offering me a contract with your hotel.

Lisa and team at the Executive Club were attentive to my needs. I was given my favorite room view facing Changde Road. I am able to rest well each night during my stay. Ken & his team at the concierge are helpful as always. Notice that Moon Steak Restaurant has closed. Will certainly miss this place as they certainly know how to prepare good beef.

At check in, Joe helped me to process. While he was preparing the paperwork, I started to look at my phone. When I looked up , I noticed he had taken out a camera and took a picture of me without asking for my permission first. He then went back to process the paperwork without further talking to me. After another 30 seconds, He then looked up, asked me for the date and port of entry to China - then put a paper on the counter and asked me to sign. I asked why your hotel seem to have more rules than others, and he said it is required by government since Oct. I just stayed at another five star hotel and they didn’t have the same requirement. I was more annoyed at his attitude than the “requirements “. He really could have explained better. He then gave me my room card without explaining anything -not even the usual “here is your room key” and “have a good evening “. At check out, the three staff were busy so I lined up about 3meters away from the front desk. The check out all took a bit long. When one of the guest finished and left, the staff (Jessie xxx) kept her head down and seemed busy with clearing up the paper in front of head so I wanted to wait till she was free. Suddenly another guest came from nowhere, and gave some paper to the Jessie and Jessie started to help her. Jessie didn’t look up at all and of course didn’t notice me who had been queuing for at least 5-7 min. I was annoyed at the customer who jumped the queqe but even more at the staff who didn’t bother to look around. Finally the staff next to Jessie was free and she helped me to check out. I do not remember this staff’s name but she has a round face, and said all the right things that were required. She was the only one who had a smile.

It was a very upmarket hotel. Very friendly staff, my only comment would be the beds - they are the usual hard beds found in most Chinese hotels. Would be great if you catered for international western guests who prefer a softer bed.

Firstly , despite I booked my room on Accor website , people can t find my reservation it took almost 40mns to get my room . No compensation with this waste of time . I was the lounge I asked to get a drink , receptionnist insisted to see my platinium card , like I was trying to cheat. I asked to pay my bill the day before because I was leaving but I need a fapiao , still at lounge reception, instead of making my bill and take her phone to front desk to prepare a fapiao , the person to go downstairs for the fapiao and invoice . They delivered some fruit to my room as platinium member but I cannot eat were so bad . I used to stay at pullman value for price is much better
