Excellent location and great architecture. Housekeepers and staffs are friendly. But the room I stayed is quite noisy because of the central A/C outside.

The location is very convenient, beside a subway station, and a few malls and restaurants and coffee bars around it. The only disappoint was the pool was under maintenance.

It was the first time for me to stay in Swissotel Shanghai and I was quite looking forward to it as I know the location of the hotel is great and the outside impression is welcoming. However the experience went downwards ever since I first entered the lobby. The staff was not well trained and not very professional. I arrived at 10pm and asked if there was a restaurant where I could get a salad or a sandwich. The answer at the lobby was there is only buffet or a Chinese Restaurant in the second floor. I asked twice as I could really believe it. Arriving at the second floor I ask the staff there. Answer was if you don't want buffet you can eat Chinese. Only when I actually asked the lady at the buffet she said I could order anything a la card as well. OK, perhaps language barrier, although I speak English and Chinese. The Rooms looked OK, but needed some renovation as they seem to be a little old and there are no power plugs anywhere near the bed as one of the two plugs under the TV counter was broken so I ended up having to charge my phone in the bathroom or using the plug form the TV. They offered me an extension though. In the morning there was no seat at breakfast, but not because there were too many people but because they weren't sure if the tables or free already or not, because the two staff that were present could clean the tables fast enough and didn't keep track on who is still eating and who not. The placemats on the tables were made of rubber and looked like they are actually shower mats. I watched them cleaning the table and they merely used the table towel from the person that was sitting there last to wipe them "clean". The checkout was quite unfriendly and cold I felft and definitely not welcoming me to come back. Needless to say that my Gold Membership didn't seem to be acknoledged at all. I am sorry, but it was a total disappointment.

My girlfriend and I had a great stay at the hotel. The room was clean, spacious and the breakfast buffet was very good. As a gold status member I got upgraded to a higher room category. All in all a very good stay but there is one point to criticize. On my arrival day was a queue with other non-Accor member guests, but as a Accor member I waited at the Priority lane. A hotel staff member probably a security insisted that I should wait in line, once I told him I am a member he still said I should wait in line, even the receptionist told me wait in line, when I said I am a member he asked me for my member card, which doesnt make sense, since from my booking he can see my member status when I give him my passport.

The pool was closed but this was not mentioned in the app when booking, this is a key feature of the hotel and should have been advised in advance. I have stayed here many times but this may be the last, the rooms are now tired and dated, only 1 plug socket available, no USB charging points. Club lounge is not very generous with very limited selection available. I also could get a cheaper rate on booking.com but booked through Accor and requested your price check service but never got any reply.

1) The prostitute soliciting me in the lobby were unnecessary and should be taken care of 2) absolutely no service in the restaurant at breakfast. Could not even get a cup of coffee 3)The beds are extremely hard making it difficult to sleep. Hotel was clean though.

We found check in very drawn out and slow. Even once you reached the counter it seemed to involve many steps. At our second check-in, mid-night, it took more than 10 minutes to check in. It would be helpful if the lounge area could be separated into a serviced area and a waiting area. We chose to stand when waiting because we didn't want to be handed a menu and asked if we wanted anything. Beds seem to be set for local preferences, extremely hard. Perhaps a choice on the booking site?

It was the same welcoming experience. The only pity was the closing of swimming pool for renovation. Excellent location. Interesting Indian curry lamb in Chinese pot for room service......of course I will come back. It is cosy and super convenient location!
