Old hotel, repairing work going on while night there is sound, the hotel staff knows it still they give rooms on those noisy floors.

Arrived early, around 5am, and informed our room wasn’t ready and check in would be 13 noon - directed to the cafe for tea/coffee/coke - we were both very tired after flying in from the UK. Staff in the cafe were fantastic and couldn’t do enough to help. We were advised we could check in earlier as they have a room available and we would have to pay a little extra. No problem :-) When we booked, we chose a room with a plunge pool (or so we thought after looking at the pictures online) only to be informed we wouldn’t have a pool but could have a pool for R1000 per day. We initially agreed to this as we just wanted to sleep. We checked our booking and the pictures showed a room with a deck and plunge pool. Chose to eat in the room one night as we wanted to see what the food was like. I sent the first set of burgers back as they were raw and i was advised they would come to us well done - these were also sent back as they were burnt on the outside and raw inside. Manager, Chef and someone else came to the room to discuss with my wife as I’d gone out to get COOKED food from the mall. The room was adequate and the plunge pool was cooling however the outside was set up for one person with one chair and there was only one set of towels on the room - we had to ask for a second set of towels and a bath robe. When we checked out we challenged the extra paid for the plunge pool and the fact we had been charged for the room service meals we sent back!! This was credited along with the extra paid for the room plunge pool. We were offered the services of the hotel car to take us to the train station via Mother House - I assumed this was complementary to make up for the experience and was shocked to be charged a rather large amount for this service - around R3500 which made for one very expensive taxi and was also informed I was liable for parking charges at Mother House AND at the train station!! Please bear in mind a taxi would have cost me less than R800.... All in all a little lack lustre and disappointed with the hotel..... however the rooftop pool was amazing even if we seem to have paid a lot for 2 beers at the pool. Food in the bar along with a decent selection of beers was good

The staff are very good, very helpful. I have been staying at Swissotel on visits to Kolkata for the past 7-8yrs. I found the room had seen better day, the light switch in the bath room was loose, the shower grubby, the desk chair arm damaged and the fridge would not close. Not major things but showing signs of age. Had to ask for water.

I loved your infra structure and room. But where ever we need service you failed miserably. To start with there was no hot water in wash basin. Dental kit was not provided. So was bath chappal , missing. Had requested for fruit plate or cookies while check in, was provided after I finished dinner at 11pm. WiFi connection was bad. Pls improved your services if you expect me to come back again.

I stayed here earlier also but this time the experience was pretty average. Pros: - Location - Bed was comfortable - Wifi speed good Cons: - Checkin was slow as the room were not ready when I arrived. - Condition of room and toilets can be better. Flooring was damaged at some places and bath area was badly repaired. Expect a better quality from such hotel which is marked as 4 star+. - Food options were quite limited in Buffet and food can taste better.

I had a booked a full size king bed, but when I checked in I was told only smaller single bed was available. So I had no other option but to take the smaller single bed.
