« Courteous staff at a well maintained facility. »

Overall experience was very good. Had a difficult time driving to facility using Apple navigation as it kept trying to take me to lower Wacker drive. After finally arriving, the front desk was very helpful and found me a great room with the view of the city. Rooms were well maintained, but are starting to feel dated.

I was visiting for business and my family joined me the 2nd and 3rd night when we stayed for leisure. The room was great, staff was friendly, and as I was asking for recommendations for dining I realized I was speaking to the general manager. Not often do I see the GM out and interacting with guests, very nice!!

« Great hotel high expectations as a result and was not disappointed »

Upon check in front desk woman was personable, good smile and provided me a very nice room, very much appreciated. I was provided a late check out longer than expected which was sincerely appreciated - 12:30. I was tied up at a conference, came back late just before 1:00, quickly checked out within 10 minutes and was not charged. I told the front desk upon returning late for check out of my situation, front desk was slightly annoyed but told me that was OK and did not charge me upon leaving just after 1:00 which was also appreciated. The one recommendation is to provide a bottle of water upon check in simply to remain competitive with even lower end hotels. Most places where I stay either provide me a bottle of water upon arrival, offer me a bottle or provide one upon my request. Given your hotel is a premium hotel, I was somewhat surprised.

« Nice hotel but no hot water. »

Nice hotel. But I had no hot water in the shower. I notified a maintenance person who happened to be in the room to fix a light. He promised it would be fixed but it wasn't. I notified the front desk. They promised it would be fixed but it wasn't.

Everything was fine except the elevators--they were incredibly slow and overcrowded, to the point that I had to depart my room on an upper floor 15 minutes earlier than I otherwise would have because of the wait for the elevator.

« Great hotel, frustrating elevators »

Everything was wonderful, except the elevators. In theory, having elevators that are dedicated to a floor when you type your floor in sounds great. However, when i was there it seemed as though there were always ~25-30 people waiting for an elevator yet only 2 elevators at a time were working. Multiple times I had to re-enter my floor because the elevator I was assigned to had too many people and I was unable to get on. Instead of queuing up all 9 floor options on 1 elevator, they need to be spread out. I don't know if maintenance was an issue and the other elevators were unavailable, but it tarnished an otherwise fantastic experience.

The elevators ruined the entire experience. Waiting 30 min for an elevator is unacceptable. I would not stay there again for this one reason.

« Simply staff was rude »

First off let's start off with your valet, if I wasn't in town for my girlfriend's birthday things definitely would have gotten physical with the valet. Rude obnoxious was talked down to which never happens. If you're wondering who 5-9 Hispanic male black goatee works at the Chicago Swiss Hotel get him out of there fire him simply rude valet is all about customer service when he has none. I had to take an elevator to get ice no ice machine on my floor elevator took 15 minutes to get to my floor just so I can get ice unacceptable. At time of checkout it took 22 minutes for elevator to arrive on my floor my girlfriend I had two separate and go one at a time down to the lobby elevators were extremely packed. At time of check out in the lobby the line was astronomically long almost out the front of the door where the lobby starts I refuse to check out I just left because of the elevator issues check out issues rude valet coming and going we will never stay at the Swissotel again I do a lot of business in Chicago I've already told a lot of my clients fellow employees and other business owners that do the same thing that I do to avoid your Swissotel doesn't matter how cheap the pricing will be good luck in the future

My only suggestion is to make sure someone is at the bellhop station by the inside check-in. No one seemed around, and I had to flag someone from the check-in desk.

My only problem is that other attendees told me that they had free internet access in their rooms, but I did not. We were using the same conference reservation program for our rooms so I did not receive this benefit from the registration for an unknown reason.

« Great experience if pricy »

Visited for a high school journalism convention - Swissotel was the overflow hotel. Students loved the business-like atmosphere. Was a bit pricy, but understandable in Chicago and price was on par with other convention hotels. Great concierge, helpful front desk and accounting department.
