« Once Again, A very enjoyable Stay »

Very Good stay, The art-deco room was similar to prior stays. The food was very good at Kasper's, but the menu was short of salad choices which were excellent in previous stays. The food in the Grill was adequate, and the wine choices were not to our liking- they were all too acidic. The kindness of all the Savoy staff was wonderful, especially the doorman and concierge.

« Lovely iconic hotel lived up to expectations »

This was our second stay here and the hotel did not disappoint. The room was well equipped and bright and airy with a partial river view . We were welcomed on arrival and well looked after . Kaspers for breakfast was very good and the staff welcoming . The only issue was that yet again a charge was put onto our credit which was not ours . This was sorted out and removed but the same thing happened on our last stay after we had left .

« Always enjoy staying at the Savoy but... »

could not find the in room bar price list, we were on the 2nd floor on an up grade but could hear the bins below being emptied below, had difficulty opening the shampoo and bath gel when my hands were soapy and did not know that we had to book in the bar before eating in the Savoy grill. All the staff were excellent and made us very welcome. We have booked again for 12th April and have requested a "higher" room away from the bins.

« Amazing hotel, fantastic staff, but the bathroom was like a 2* hotel, and room had very pool plug locations and no mirror to get ready with. »

We arrived on the friday leaving on th Sunday. In a nutshell the hotel is amazing, and I cannot compliment the service and staff enough, they were magnificent. The only negative i would take away is that there no plug sockets either side of the bed, which is a huge oversite when designing a room. There was no where to get ready that had a mirror. The only mirrors were high up above the fireplaces, or in the wardrobe, with no plug socket for a hardrier in reaching distance. Such a huge oversite for a hotel of the Savoys caliber. The Bathroom was excepionally poor for a hotel of this standard, very basic white, and no seperate shower, just a shower in the bath. Almost the same standard as you would get in a 2 star property. I stay at some of the best hotels around the world and London, and was extreemly disappointed because of the things I have just listed. If there was a rating for the room and bathroom, I would have given it a 2 because it was nout functional. If there was a rating for the rest of the hotel I would have given it 10 as it was fantastic. If there was a rating for the Staff the woul get a 10 because there were magnificent. Al in all we have a lovely stay at the hotel and would come back again.

« Excellent room. Stay let down by confusion with booking and also Savoy Grill experience. »

I requested champagne and chocolate strawberries in our room about 2 weeks prior to stay and heard nothing back. Chased on morning of reservation before we flew to London to be told via reply that our booking had been cancelled a few days ago! Now I was stressed as it was our 20th wedding anniversary. I rang and after being put throughto be told that in fact it had not been cancelled. On check in we were asked for passport photographs as it was a same day booking when it certainly wasn't. So I surmise that our booking had been cancelled in error by the hotel and we were lucky that the hotel had availability hence the free upgrade (which was much appreciated). We had booked the Savoy Grill in advance and chose the tasting menu with the higher grade paired wines. So not a cheap dinner but we were looking forward to some great food and wines. The food was tasty but definitely not memorable bar the beef wellington. Personally I cannot stand wine being poured into a measure and then being tipped into a wine glass. It comes across as penny pinching and it doesn't look professional. Our biggest issue of the weekend was the drinks trolley at the end of the meal. The waiter asked us if we would like a post dinner drink and I clearly asked twice if it was included in the tasting menu and he said yes both times. We ordered two different whiskeys and at the end I signed the bill. In my room that evening I checked the bill and it seemed excessive. I texted the Savoy text number (+4…) to ask for a copy of the bill breakdown the next day. I received no reply. On check out the day after next I queried this food bill and we were charged £30 for one whiskey and £95 for another whiskey. The problems that I have is that a) we were told a drink each was included and b) there was no drinks menu given to us and therefore no prices to review. The lady at check out did get the restaurant manager and the gentleman who served us and it was agreed that I did ask if drinks were included and I was told that they were. The manager took the cost of the whiskey off the overall bill. So in summary, I appreciate how it was ultimately dealt with and we had no problem with the waiter who was polite and courteous throughout our dinner. However, the system is not right and needs correcting.

« A return stay »

An overnight stay paid for by our children for our 40th Anniversary and a return to where we stayed on our wedding night. We have been back during the intervening years for meals etc. but not to stay. We could not fault anything at all - lovely room with everything you could wish for (even an umbrella in case), wonderful staff, food and drink superb. The staff in the American Bar were fantastic - especially Cipriano who was very helpful and kind to us all when our children joined us.

Very good, but many of the housekeeping touches were a bit below the past. For example, they failed to replace glasses frequently, let us run out of small things, and so on.

Room, although entry level range, was fabulous with attention to detail. Housekeeping gets 12 out of 10. No fingerprints on all the chrome, towels obviously measured for distance as well as being fluffy, and bathrobes’ belt rolled into pockets. Turndown was the best ever (better than Reid’s Madeira and Le Manoir) with the thoughtful addition of Classic fm. Reception were not so organised - we were locked out of our room after breakfast (10.55am) and told by reception there had been a problem with credit card. On checking out, when questioned, we were told everything had been okay with the credit card...what was going on ??? Hoping to return.
