« Once again - incredible warmth from reception, concierge and restaurant staff - on a cold, wet dreary day. »

Smiling, attentive reception staff helped us feel like we were coming home. Our favorite non-Gold-Floor room was waiting for us (1044) with welcome fruit plate and exercise clothing. The re-decorated Vogue restaurant - all in stunning white - greeted us for our extensive breakfast buffet. Long-time waiter Ramon gave us a tour of the private dining area, then gave us personal service. Concierge personnel arranged a taxi for departure as our dear friend and doorman Sergei loaded our luggage. We'll be back one last time next week for a Gold Floor stay. Can't wait.

The attention afforded during my stay was first class but having the bar and restaurant closed was disappointing with the 11th floor area being a typical “club type atmosphere” which for me is always a sterile and claustrophobic experience no matter which 5 Star Hotel I am staying at worldwide with the exception of Crown Hotel in Perth, Australia which is exceptional.

in my stay , no one noticed a break in hot water, all week i had low water pressure and in the middle of one of my showers the water stopped with soap at my body and head !!!!! i called the reception they could not help

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel over Christmas (December 24 to 26). While the hotel room was clean and beautiful, the service and food in the restaurant was challenging. We also have a suggest for the Gold Lounge as well since we stayed on that floor. From a restaurant standpoint, the morning breakfast buffets had good food, but much of the food that was supposed to be hot was actually cold or at room temperature. We would like to suggest that the hot food is either prepared more often or that there is more attention paid to keeping it warm. For the Gold Floor, we were surprised to find that the club was not open for breakfast for a couple of the days we were there. We were also surprised to know it was open for breakfast on the last day. Lastly, one of the nights, the Gold Club Lounge had a menu vs a buffet. None of this was a problem, but it would have been nice to know in advance so that we could plan other activities around it. When we have stayed on the club level of a Ritz Carlton, for instance, there is a letter provided that tells you about any changes to schedule, etc. This would have made the stay on the Gold Floor better. The hotel was in very good condition, but had some elements in some degree of wear and tear. The countertops in the bathroom were clouded over with hard water for instance. We were in room 1116. We would suggest cleaning this up or polishing it. Overall, the room was beautiful, and we were very happy with it. The service at the front desk upon check-in was outstanding. The gentleman at the Concierge was outstanding at providing input about the city of Kiev, and he did a great job of following up with us. The attendant running the Gold Lounge on the morning of December 26th was pleasant and got to know what we liked personally. He provided great service. One of the best things about Fairmont and where it beats Ritz-Carlton is the special area on its menu for food items that are good for people with dietary needs. My wife has a lot of food allergies, so we went to the Fairmont Banff Springs many times while she was working in Banff due to the fact that we could reliably get food appropriate for her food allergies. This special area on the menu should be brought to the Fairmont Kyiv Grand Hotel as well if possible. One last thing is that the hotel in Kyiv should do more to market its services in advance like to have a Concierge to reach out. For instance, I would gladly have paid to have a hotel car pick us up at the airport, but I was not offered it. I, instead, went with a taxi driver from a taxi company at the airport. He drove nearly double the speed limit and we felt like our life was in danger the entire time. I have dealt with this while living in Peru, Ecuador, Brazil and the Philippines, but this was a vacation. I think that the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv could drive good revenue out of offering an airport car service to all guests in advance of their arrival. Overall, we were happy with our stay with some areas for improvement.

« Is this Fairmont Standard? »

A nice room, a comforatble bed, very disappointing staff in the restaurant, also a mix of experience elsewhere, from very helpful to very bad. It was my first stay at a Fairmont and I was curiuos, satyed at many great hotels around the world, wanted to compare. Especially since I just did a communicationn and sutomer focus trainign for my company. The tonality, the attention given and shown, was not at all up to what I expected from a Fairmont hotel. I was also shocked by the prices of a glass of normal red wine in the restaurant, way over of what I would pay in other places, even in Switzerland.

Always nice to be received with a smile. Service improves from year to year. Some of the beds/pillows and chairs in 1040 are feeling a bit worn, but still comfy.

Overall experience is always good as I am a regular customer, but one very negative experience at checkout influenced my overall sentiment about Fairmont Kiev and now I am reconsidering if I will use your hotel in the future. I used the voucher 3rd night free expecting that for 6 night stay I would get 2 complementary nights. I got only one night free and demanded the invoice to be changed. The employee was maybe new and was not authorized to do such change and called her manager speaking in Russian saying I was acting aggressive (thinking I did not understand her). This employee at the checkout desk did not act fully professionally in my view, but she was doing what she should do in this situation (apart from disrespectful comment on the phone and afterwards inadequate and rather defensive behavior). What caused the misunderstanding is the clarity of the definition Third night free. I travel on business every week to Kiev and usually select between Fairmont and another hotel of my choice. This time I select d Fairmont and stayed 2 additional nights privately in fairmont expecting to use the voucher. if I knew it’s just one night free I could have made a different choice. Ultimately I had to use my second free night voucher because of this misunderstanding. For the future I would suggest to have better clarity on the conditions of the vouchers - more precisely stating ONE third night for free. Thank you.

The room was spacious, clean and luxurious. Breakfast was good because there were many options. The desert café / library was a delightful experience; the desert was tasty and service was excellent. Dinner food from the restaurant was unsatisfactory. Food preparation was inconsistent. For example, I ordered the chicken burger twice. The first time the sandwich was cooked well and tasted as expected. The sandwich was prepared totally different the second time and I was not able to eat it. I could not tell from the menu what I would really get. All staff I encountered were professional, courteous, and helpful.

« Food was not very good, the breakfast buffet was disappointing, and I couldn't get the receipts I needed to submit my expenses for reimbursement. »

When I saw that I had an email from you, I was excited because I have asked repeatedly for copies of my dinner receipts. When we checked out, the front desk told us we couldn't get them because the accounting office was closed. Why does the accounting office have to be open in order to get receipts? Does that mean we have to check out of the hotel only during business hours? That is not a very good process. People check out at all hours and many business people need detailed receipts for their meals. I left my email address with the front desk and was assured the receipts would be scanned and emailed to me. Still haven't received them. So I sent an email yesterday asking for them again, still no receipts.

Concerning the requested checks, it is true that according to FRHI account policies we suppose to keep the copies of the checks signed by the Guest in our accounting. The second copy of each check is always provided to the Guest during the settlement of the bill. In case our Guest would like the signature of the check, we are always happy to provide it. Due to the fact that you checked out at 4 AM, it is true that we were not able to get it. However, I can see that one of my colleagues forwarded requested check to you (ka…) on Monday morning. We always strive to provide professional service and we will update your Guest Profile in order to keep your Food&Beverage checks at the reception to avoid any possible misunderstanding in future.
