Considering that I am a Gold Member, I did not notice any extra special treatment. These things don't usually bother me, but please don't tell me that I am a Gold member, and raise my expectations for me not to notice anything different in my stay at the Fairmont Grand Hotel Kiev. Sorry.

We stayed in Fairmont a few times before and would like to praise the good price/quality relation. However, this time we faced quite different situation, mostly linked to failing service standards and staff expertise: 1) nobody at the entrance helped us with bulky luggage (to move from taxi to the hotel lobby); 2) we prepaid 7 days in the hotel, however the first evening we waited over one & half hour for pizza delivery for our 6 year old boy (in 5* star hotel) - a reception clerk explained that they did not block a deposit (around Eur 100) and refused (as we understood later) to pass our order to room service; we call few times room service and different persons informed us on the "problem with deposit", finally we got our pizza worth of Eur 10 and paid directly to the delivery person; 3) "breakfast experience": we were offered a table without cutlery, our requests to bring forks & knives remained ignored by the staff for 10 minutes, after we left the restaurant premises; 4) TV did not work properly - we called few times reception desk to arrange repairs. The local engineer explained the technical reasons for failure, but not the timely service. 5) Room cleaning, laundry services were OK. The hotel did not orginised any New Year event or simply did not bother to inform the guests about celebration/party options. We travel minimum 3-4 times per year to Kyiv, and stayed nearly in all major 5* hotels (Hyatt, Hilton, Continental, Premier Palace and Opera) and would say Fairmont would not be our choice for the next Kyiv visits.

Luxury in a home environment!.. But prices are too high, must be revised! for instance, rates for the transfer from airport to hotel are extremely expensive.. at world standard! same applies too the prices at the hotel!

« Overall nice design grand hotel style, beautiful worn pool and sauna, nice room decor , best door man but worst house keeping!! »

We got king bed with walk in closet 712 was nice good view I love it so much, staff were nice local standards the doorman however super friendly greet us every time when he saw us. House keeping is the worst thing herw we did not get any turn down service ( stayed 3 nights) I mean we have been staying at Fairmont many places so we are expecting the same standards last night we found cockroach in the bathroom it is very disturbing!!!!! I mean it is ima cold country on the high floor I think you should do something bout it even though we were moved to bigger room but it was very annoying to move coz we did not have much time.

This was my first stay in Kyiv, and the Grand Hotel provided a high level of comfort and assistance that is typical of Fairmont hotels. Rooms are comfortable, staff is friendly and helpful, and location is convenient.

Hotel and Staff were Great! But I was disappointed when I was Charged well over an extra $100 for my stay that was charged on my Credit Card? I and my guest were part of the WBC Convention held there. The meals in the Hotel were Great as were the staff. The Main Dinner of our Convention that was held across the street from Hotel was really Bad, The food service took way to long and we ended up leaving halfway through the dinner due to this. Don't know if the Hotel was in charge of this but it was bad service all a round.

« Lovely hotel »

Check-in was chaotic. We were told that we had to change rooms at 11:30PM on our fourth night A second time we were asked, but we didn’t move. Guards with guns were stationed on our floor, probably to guard who were in our former room. We were suprised that we didn’t receive a bottle of wine, or champagne, or at least a drink at the bar. However the gentleman at the front desk wrote a note apologizing for the inconvenience. Also thought it was odd that there was no soap dish so you had to place your slimy bar of soap on the counter. There were other issues that I have forgotten at this point however the hotel was not up to the same standards as other Fairmonts. We asked for additional hangers for our clothes and we received miss-matched wire and plastic ones. I am not a complainer in hotels however it wasn’t a five star quality that we have experienced at other Fairmonts.In the scheme of life these are minor issues but the hotel management definitely needs some refinement Wanted to let you know that Sergey, the doorman, was absolutely fantastic. You’re very lucky to have him as part of your staff.

Check-in was a drama, some rooms not ready, even though we phoned the hotel from the airport that our arrival was imminent, unorganized chaos, I am sorry to say. Anastasia, who helped us, was incredibly nice but sadly could not help speed things up. She tried. After that things got much better. Rooms were great. Breakfast was awesome. Staff was nice.

« comfortable stay except for smoky bar »

Very much enjoyed the stay at Kiev Fairmont. Comfortable room and fine service. Only negative was that bar was filled with cigarette smoke and had a somewhat seedy feel. My Ukrainian friends were surprised to hear about smoking as they were not aware of any exceptions to Ukrainian law that bans smoking in public places.
