Very expensive hotel, reception team are not set professional, they make mistakes that cost more money and the breakfast is short menu and doesn’t deserve 29 euros.

« not what we expected from Fairmont »

Two big failings of this trip. #1. breakfast buffet, a complete mess. Hot food was cold, not enough tables for guests, a lot of things missing/finished, coffee terrible. We were lucky we didn't pay the extra for this to be in our rate, so we didn't have to have it on day 2. But being charged almost 100 EURO for a family of 4 for this, is really not OK. #2. the family pool. Completely over crowded with people not staying at the hotel. Difficult to find sun beds. Clearly the hotel staff prioritise local visitors who they charge a fee to, which ruins the experience for the hotel guests. This is not what we expect. We complained about both things, and were offered no discount on the breakfast, and were told that they allowed members of the local polo club to use the facilities (the local visitors were 100% not polo club members, and clearly nobody was checking IDs!). Other aspects of the hotel were better, but these are important gaps and we would not recommend this hotel - very very far from a 5 star experience that we have received at Fairmonts in US and Mexico.

Everything was fantastic.... although I was not happy about the fact that this 5 star recycled shower caps..... and the lack of in room amenities eg.... vanity kit... sewing kit... shoe horn etc.... having said that overall the hotel was really grand

It was our first time to stay at Fairmont hotel (Usually I stay at Hilton and I am satisfied). The service was excellent. All kindly staffs were very keen to help us enjoy our stay. The concierge service was very helpful to arrange the sightseeing and reservations. I am very happy to book there. All in one we are extremely satisfied to stay at Fairmont Ray Juan Carlos Hotel and could make out first Barcelona trip unforgettable.

We thought the service was wonderful and the people very nice who worked in the hotel. We were surprised there was no main diningroom in the hotel. Upon arrival we had to wait so long fir a room and when we got our room the airconditioner didn’t work. We didn’t get another room till 4:00. Had to Erick and unpack. We had come in from a regent cruise and it was a long day we were tired. The hotel felt bad and gave us 2 free drinks. However we felt we wasted a whole day. We arrived at 9:30 am.

I was very happy with the room, quality of cleaning, and overall facilities. However, where the service was not as good was that on multiple occasions when I called the Royal service button or Concierge the call was not answered. This happened on numerous occasions. also, there was a taxi strike in Barcelona for 3 days and for a hotel of Fairmont's calibre, I and other guests expected the hotel to provide some kind of shuttle service or transportation, for example to the airport or nearby places, but this was not the case. For example, taking the guests with luggage to the nearby metro station, as it was also hot. These are the little things that make a difference and I was disappointed with this aspect.

Good customer service staff at check in and breakfast. Very limited vegetarian options at The Terrace, awful salty and stale packaged chips and packaged guacamole. Definitely not worth the money spent. Nice room but showers leak all over.

The hotel and facilities are wonderful and me and my wife have enjoyed the short stay. We had two issues: once my reservation was made through Booking in several locations where I have stayed the points were not added to my Le Club Accor Hotels account. That has happened in Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon and Malaga. The second issue was related to the information in Booking; when I booked the room I had the transfer in/out the hotel to the airport as complimentary, but when I called the hotel to set the transfer they informed that this service was no longer provided by the hotel. The people in the reception have been outstanding requesting a taxi for my transfer to the airport in the morning before the taxi drivers strike start in Barcelona on the last July 25th.

« Relaxing stay at Rey Juan Carlos »

The hotel staff are very helpful. They remember guests who have stayed before, which makes for a welcoming experience. It is always a pleasure to see familiar faces. It is good to see the facilities and rooms being renewed; the renovations are being carried out very discreetly and do not really impinge on guests. It will be better when the breakfast room is back in operation.
