« Fabulous »

Hotel staff super. Service was great. As we were celebrating we appreciated the upgrade and even more so when the champagne and strawberries were delivered to our room Terrace restaurant was not very successful for us, I think we had a new waiter who particularly struggled with the language barrier and we only spoke English I'm sorry to say. Anyway it certainly didn't spoil our stay and meant we ate out at a lovely Barcelona restaurant in our actual anniversary. Cocktails were completely gorgeous too 5 stars all round!!

We stayed three days and will return. Anna and other members of staff were very helpful in making bookings, providing information and generally doing their best to make our stay enjoyable. The only down side was the poor air conditioning in the room.

Big room, nice bed, excellent breakfast. However, the reception efficiency got to be improved. As I still couldn't see my reservation information on the hotel website the day before my arrival (perhaps since I'd booked through the conference organiser, though originally I believed it was the hotel site that I was punching in my information, and apparently it turned out to be not their site), I emailed the hotel reservation before I took off, wishing to confirm my reservation and telling them that I would be arriving early at ~9:30 the next day after a long flight. I got their reply saying that my reservation was confirmed and they would do their best to assign me a room upon my arrival and wish I would enjoy my stay. At that time, I thought the service of this hotel was pretty good. However, I arrived at about 9:30 the next day, after waited in the queue for some time, (I heard that the visitors in front would get their rooms in an hour), they checked my passport, got my credit card and then I signed something; then I was told I arrived too early and there was no room for me. I mentioned about my email to the hotel reservation and the reply I got, but the person at the desk said that's just a request, there's no guarantee. I was told to leave my baggage and return in some hours. I thus left my baggage and wandered around. After several hours, I went back, thinking that I could get my room key right away as I had got all the passport check, signing things done earlier; only to learn that their computer system was down. Although I was offered a seat and a drink, and was told to wait for just 10 minutes more, it turned out to be nearly another hour before I could get my room. I supposed it could be even longer if I was not at the desk chasing after them again. Although I got a small bag of chocolate in my room that evening as a gift for the inconvenience caused, it would simply be nothing when one wish to get a room at ~9:30 after a 13-h flight, but in the end, it's 16:00 when one could could actually get the room. Two more weird things happened to me: 1. I had been greeted as Mr. X, and Mrs. X, and in fact it should be Miss or Ms. I joined the Fairmont President Club before I made the reservation, and I thought they should have all my information; but the reception said there was no record of my club membership. I later showed them the mobile membership card that I got and they checked again. Then, they told me that they have swapped my first name and family name. I wouldn't believe that something like this could happen in a five star hotel. 2. I was out on a tour early one morning and got back to the hotel late wanting a nice shower. When I arrived at the door of my room, I found the "privacy please" card on; I was pretty sure that I didn't put it there. When I entered the room, the bed was not made, the bathroom was not cleaned, but the tea cup was washed and tea bags refilled. So strange! As I urgently need some new towels and bath gels, I called the house-keeping. In the end, they did come and change some towels for me and refill the gels for me. Their service was nice, though not too speedy after receiving the request.

« Beautiful hotel with luxurious rooms and excellent service »

We stayed 4 nights in an executive suite on the 15th floor as a treat to ourselves for our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. The room was very comfortable and extremely clean. The maid/cleaning service was very thorough and discrete. Check in did take a little while however we did arrive when it was very busy in reception. Check out was very efficient and quick. We spent a lovely evening in the B24 bar and again enjoyed excellent service from all the staff. We ordered in room dining several times and found the food to be very tasty and beautifully presented. The grounds, gardens and pool areas are very nice and a lovely tranquil place to while away a few hours. We have stayed in 5 other Fairmont hotels in Canada and the Rey Juan Carlos I compares well in terms of quality and service. It would be nice however, to have a small deli to buy sandwiches cookies etc to take away and perhaps a little shop to buy magazines chocolate etc. It would also be nice to have more English speaking TV channels other than just News Channels or something like pay per view movies. We look forward to returning soon hopefully over the Christmas period.

Modern hotel and amenities. We got assigned a non refurbished room. A request to move to a refurbished room that was available required paying additional daily rate. In this age of customer service I don't know how hotels think they can get away with this

Randell was excellent, especially when their was a very short delay while checking in. He rectified the situation immediately and surprized us with a wonderful anniversary gift. Dinning experience was excellent, as well as the doorman with the cool hat. Thank you for a good experience.

« Hotel is good, but service from the receptionist is poor! »

I had to pay my stay in advance. And then during the checkout I was asked to give company VAT code. Since I did not have that with me, I was not able to get the receipt with company name in it. Which I need in order to include it to my travel report. Receptionist gave me email address where to send the VAT code, but that email address is not valid! Now I have called several times and sent emails to invoicing department, but still no response! Next thing is that I will publish my opinion in the social media about the service in this hotel. NOT A HOTEL TO BE USED DURING BUSINESS TRAVELLING!!

« Fine until check out. No invoice/receipt given and then I find out I'd been overcharged. Took too long to resolve. »

Everything fine until check out. Nice cool room and comfy bed. Shower door leaked water into bathroom but minor point. No invoice/receipt given and then I find out I'd been overcharged. Took too long to resolve.
