because I was there for a conference I chose to stay at the Fairmont as the host hotel. Disappointed to see hat security guards were needed in the lobby. Appreciated the staff you walked by made eye contact and said hello. front desk wasn't helpful when we asked about close restaurants - they told us there were none, however when we went on line we found the Exchange District and lots of others with in a 10-15 minute walk

Food: Excellent. Bathroom and size of room: Excellent. Pillows: too puffy, nice to have some that are less puffy for people who need to keep their neck straight than bent up. Important: please investigate what your mattress protectors are made of: I had a progressive reaction to something. Not the Rose products, have used them before. I think you have latex or something as my body that was not covered by pyjamas came up in an incredibly itchy rash and bumps as each night went by. Back in Vancouver immediately started to clear up. Room temperature guage was not responding - although programmed to 16* it was so hot like summer.

« The hotel needs a significant renovation ... it is “tired” »

Good ... but we had a significant service issue when we reserved the Velvet Lounge for a cocktail hour and then were kicked out with no compensation whatsoever. We then had to have the the cocktail hour (over 40 people) in the hotel lobby.

The staff was absolutely awesome. From the valet to check-in staff to cleaning staff, all were fantastic and made us feel welcome. Our hotel room was not available to check in until almost 5:30pm on Friday, 4/13/18. There was a sharp buzzing sound coming from an electrical box in the closet of our room. Both of these things made me feel like I was just put into the last room available even though I booked the suite almost 2 months in advance. Booking the room 2 months in advance for a special occasion and then having it not available was disappointing. What was much more disappointing was the lack of compensation offered by the hotel. I felt the staff was genuinely sorry and very very gracious and offered what they could which was a free drink at the bar. My wife and I do not drink alcohol. I do not feel as though I should have paid full price for this room and I do not feel it should be necessary for me to complain to get what is fair. So, the only reason I would not recommend the hotel or stay there again was the lack of the hotel being proactive to be fair. It was the best experience I have had with any staff at any hotel I have ever stayed at. We loved the pool and the people and Winnipeg in general.

Nice hotel, excellent staff, very clean but extremely disappointing restaurant and bar. The food is way overpriced and not that good, very small selection n the menu. Drinks are also very clean xpensive.

It was a comfortable stay at the Fairmont, however my room was in definite need of a makeover. While the room and bathroom were clean, the place had a musty odour and the carpets were stained. The bed was very comfortable.

All staff I encountered during my 5 night stay were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. My room was always unobtrusively made up to be fresh and clean. The staff assisting at our conference, whether serving food, setting up rooms, helping with A/V equipment, were unfailingly polite and positive and helpful. It made for a great week. Thank you!

Everything except the room condition was excellent. The breakfast at the VG was great. Staff friendly and very quiet room. But, disappoint in room 2014. "Fairmont High Floor Rooms are renovated rooms" We selected this category of room because of the website description. To be fair, the year of renovation was not indicated. You can't have that much wallpaper peeling off and call the room renovated.
