The hotel and staff were very nice and it would have been a great experience, however, my husband told me he couldn't sleep on the bed, it was really hurting his back. I thought he just didn't like the mattress, but on the 3rd night, I tried to sleep on his side. It was a terrible experience. I called housekeeping and they came to take a look at it. His side was falling off on the edge to the floor and the middle had a bad hump. When they looked at it, they realized the frame was broken so his side of the bed was not on a frame. It was just falling off. They fixed it and he finally got a good nights sleep, however, he had not for 3 nights. I feel that this is the Fairmont and they know they had a problem and they should have compensated us for the 3-nights stay somehow. He is still having back issues due to sleeping on this bed. The shower also would not drain so the rooms need to be checked a little better before putting guests in the room.

Pleasant, as usual. The rooms on the Gold Floor need updating, however. The carpets, wallpaper, decor and bathrooms are a bit tired-looking, at this point. The water pressure in our shower was very low (this has been a recurring problem over the years) and the air conditioning seemed to have a mind of its own (regardless of the thermostat reading)/fan, exceedingly loud. The housekeeping staff and most all of the waiters continue to do an excellent job. Everyone on staff is polite and friendly and ready to help. Can't say enough good things about the Bermudians! One note: a decline in the hors d'oeuvres selection and presentation from 5 to 6 over the years. Also, it would be a lot better is that time was extended to at least 6:30, and at best, 7:00.

Lovely hotel. Very beautiful grounds and restaurants were great with lots of options. The beach, while crowded, was beautiful and we could always find two chairs together, somehow. Great vibe, overall. Also had a good location in relation to the downtown Hamilton area and staff were wonderful. We had a great experience!

Everyone at the Southampton were friendly. The hotel was beautiful. The amenities were excellent. However, the beach was littered with water bottles, small pieces of plastic, what looked like a cloth napkin?? Our friends let the front desk and concierge know after the 2 nd day of the beach’s appearance didn’t improve. The front desk didn’t realize the beach was open (Sunday 9/9) and seemed more concerned about that then the beach’s appearance. Concierge thanked her for letting them know. The next day not only was the same garbage there, in addition the dirty hummus platter we had ordered the day before was still there. A beach crew was sent after pictures were emailed to the hotel. The beach crew spent 10 minutes cleaning up the obvious mess but failed to clear the small bits of plastic, etc from our area. I was really disappointed that the Southampton doesn’t take as much pride in their beach appearance as they do in the hotel. Finally, I was disappointed that when I checked in the front desk did not remind me that I paid in advance for two continental breakfasts for September 8th. So that was a waste of $40.

Everyone was fantastic. We had a fabulous time, except for our very last day. We went back to the golf shop to purchase a gift for my husband’s boss and the lady (short hair and older) was so incredibly rude. It was incredibly hot it the shop, and I had my water bottle. I put several shirts over my arm to carry to register to hold while we finished looking. My husband changed his mind on the shirt that he was getting as a gift and when we took it to the register to switch out, the lady said ‘well now you will have two because you have to take that one also.’ I told her we only wanted the one and she said my husband ruined the other shirt when he tried it on. I looked at it, and it was just water from my water bottle that had sweated on the exterior as I held the shirts to take to the register. I told her that we were only taking the one shirt after she demanded we purchase both. After the transaction and we were walking out of the store she yelled ‘next time-keep your water bottles away from our clothes!’ I was shocked. Enough is enough. This was a huge difference from the staff that we encountered at the golf shop a few days prior. The lady and young man that was there the first time we came in wet so kind and welcoming. She even drove us back to the hotel because it was pouring rain and the trolly was taking forever. I mentioned the above scenario at checkout and asked for the golf shop manager to address it. It was not the note that we wanted to end our trip on.

We had a relaxing experience at the Fairmont Southampton but with a few kinks. We checked-in late at night with a bunch of other guests, the process was very slow- it seems like since the hotel is aware of the number of guests arriving at certain times that it would be good to have additional staff assisting at that point. We were placed in a room on the 5th floor that looked nothing like the photos of the rooms we saw online- the 5th floor is rundown and belongs in a 1980's-1990's time capsule. I strongly encourage Fairmont to remodel those rooms ASAP because they can only hinder your reputation and guest experience. Luckily the next morning we were transferred to a renovated room on a different floor. We ordered several times from the menus at the spa, in-room dining, and beach club. One thing that we noticed is that the description of ingredients in the menus was lacking- we had to send back our dishes several times because we were unaware they contained things which we cannot eat until they were brought to us (for example: the side of corn in the room service menu is not described as containing cheese). Finally, the wall that connects rooms was not a very good buffer of noise: our neighbors came home 2am one night and were quiet loud. Eventually it would be good to perhaps invest in further noise proofing of the connecting door between rooms. We enjoyed the spa tremendously- I had a massage and facial that were very relaxing. We also really enjoyed the in-room toiletries. The possibility of asking for an in-room mini fridge was also a great amenity and I think it would benefit the hotel to have more available to guests as there was a long waiting list. The coffee from Wicketts was delicious. Also, one small detail we really enjoyed was that staff would feed the ducks outside in the afternoon-providing a fun spectacle.

My husband and I come every year over the Labor Day weekend to celebrate our anniversary. I believe this is our 13th year. We love this hotel. The staff on the 6th floor is like family! Rolly and Pacal take such good care of us we never want to leave! This year Thomas and Celena also were part of the 6th floor staff. They were fabulous too. The restaurants on the property are delicious but I have to say I really missed Bacci! We did go to the sports grill twice but it wasn’t the same. We also play golf there too. Great course! We basically don’t need to leave the property!!

Overall it was a good experience. One situation that I felt service lacked significantly. There was a large conference (Nu Skin). On Wednesday there was to be a big dinner/concert at the beach for that group. Half the chairs were moved to set up tables etc. When we went to the beach at 11, it was quite crowded and not a lot of places to sit. We had to drag our own chairs that were stacked in the back to set up and put umbrellas in the sand (not that easy either). No hotel staff was available to help. About 1.5 hours later 2 guys showed up but that was too late. Typically hotels have staff at the beach to help with this on a regular basis. I didn't see them other days (until late in the day to "tidy" things up) and as I said showed up way too late that day.

Our stay was satisfactory. We experienced a long line to check in. Once we reached the front desk, our room was not ready. We were excited to hear we were upgraded to the 5th floor (from one of the first 2 floors). What we weren't told was that the 5th floor had not been remodeled (which disappointed us). Despite having a bit of a dated room, our view was amazing. The employees of the hotel either met or exceeded our expectations. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. Traveling to the hotel as a couple, it would have been nice to have certain restaurants that were adults only. We started going to late dinners 8pm - onward, and kids were still everywhere. It was challenging to escape the small children and families for a date night.

This was our first trip to Bermuda, and we were lucky enough to be guided by veterans who have both lived there and visited dozens of times. They recommended the Fairmont Southampton, and we could not not have asked for a more convenient base to explore the island, focusing on the beached.

We have been celebrating our anniversary at the Southampton Fairmont for the last 15 years and this year we were upgraded to the gold level which was a very nice experience. The Fairmont in Bermuda is our favorite vacation spot.

The property has the best location in the whole island, and the facilities are beautifully maintained. The food qualities are so so, but not terrible. The real issue was the sloppy housekeeping. After we checked in, we found used bathrobe and bath towel still hanging behind the bathroom door, a few strands of long hair on the bed sheet, and a half empty water bottle left on the night stand. I had never encountered such terrible oversight in any hotels, least of all in a 5 star establishment.
