The lighting arrangement not very well designed, so one had to leave bathroom light on all night because there was no light in the long corridor. The steak restaurant was outstanding but the restaurant on the first floor was rather poor.

« Dirty hotel with inexperienced manager »

The stay itself was ok but unfortunately, having stayed in seceral hotels around the world including fairmont Banff, I can say that it is not the hotel that is the problem but the inexperienced manager who did not follow up on any of his requests including cleaning the coffee machine in my room 2213 that had all the gunk in the water compartment or the AC thermostat that had ketchup on it. He promised I would come back to find my room clean, and unfortunately, those two items remained dirty for the duration of my stay. It also took hotel management 25 minutes to assist me in an incident of finding a massive palmetto bug in my bathroom flying around and labding on the wall. Better service and management could have made my stay memorable because the hotel itself is beautiful. I will not stay there again.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Fairmont Scottsdale. The staff were unbelievably friendly. Our upgrade request to Fairmont Gold was such a great surprise- and the service was unparalleled! Complimentary Champagne from food services for our anniversary was such a nice touch.

« The Good The Bad and the Ugly »

The Good: Your staff is wonderful. From the friendly housekeepers and groundskeepers to the the fantastic service provided by your concierges when we needed help with restaurant reservations. The Bad: The water faucet in our bathtub that determines the temperature was not working. This large knob would move down very slowly to HOT WATER and not stay where we wanted it. This situation is a potential disaster if a young child is taking a bath. I reported it to the front desk, but it was never corrected during our stay. The Ugly: TWO moths kept flying around our room. I reported that to the front desk as well, but nothing was done. We killed them ourselves eventually. This expensive room reminded us of a motel 6. We were very disappointed with it.

Our first room was not located where we expected it to be and it was dirty and smelled bad. There were stains on the furniture. The property is not being maintained, there were no lights on the steps to the spa at the main pool and it was very difficult to walk up and down the steps in the dark. It took 2 days for our room service tray to be picked up even after we called to let someone know we put it outside our room. Many of the lights on the palm trees were not on, and towels weren't being picked up from the pool chairs after they were used. There was a roach in our room, the lights on the balcony didn't come on in the dark so we couldn't use the balcony. As soon as we checked out via the TV the air conditioning was turned off, but we weren't ready to leave since it was 2 hours before checkout. Overall, we felt that we were staying in a Holiday Inn. We've stayed in the Princess several times over the past 10 years, and this stay was very disappointing. It is clear the management is making poor cost cutting decisions. I'm not going to pay Fairmont prices for Holiday Inn quality. In terms of the pools, even though they are large, all the activities have been removed. The water volleyball net was removed from one of the pools, and the badminton nets were also removed from the area around the same pool. The new pool is big, but there are no activities to do in the pool. Its like a senior citizen center, and it's boring! Watching extremely overweight adults float in a pool for hours at a time is not how I want to spend my vacation. We used to bring our children to the Princess, but wouldn't be able to do it now because they would be too bored with the total lack of activities in the pools. I hope that the pool slide won't be removed, its the only option left for fun.

Great! Only one complaint. Planned a dinner for 7 key people o honor man director of operations, KFC restaurants, who as celebrating his 326 th anniversery. Planned to have a little special desert and perhaps champagne to celebrate. Told the hostess of the Bourbon Steakhouse about the occasion givinger my name and the time. After the dinner, we waited about 15 minutes. I told the waiter. Waited another 15 minutes. Told some man in a suit who verified that he work in the restaurant. Finally a small piece of what appeared that be a pound cake, with a small candle was given to Joe. I was VERy DISAPPOINTED! Far less than what I had odered.

« Not the peaceful, relaxing resort I once knew. »

The experience started unexpectedly upon arrival when I was met by a decorative theme on the exterior of the hotel then lead into a large decorated conference room to begin the check in process. I have been visiting the hotel for more than 10 years so this was a different experience. I felt more like I was checking into a themed family conference. It was a holiday weekend and I understand the desire to attract families. I just wish I had know ahead of time. Next time I will check. Lesson learned. Unfortunately the room we were assigned had an awful smell that hit pretty hard as we walked in. Thankfully we were quickly reassigned another room. The pools were more crowded than I've ever experienced. The steak house on property ran out of their more popular dishes on a Saturday night. The noise of the children running in the room above us was unfortunate. Fortunately, the spa saved the trip. I had a wonderful spa treatment and was able to use the spa pool for a few moments of relaxation. I've always loved the Fairmont but that was probably my last stay. It was good while it lasted.
