« Run down hotel with poor temperature control »

First day I walked in room check thermostat and it was set to 72. Since this was exactly as at home I thought nothing of it. Over night found that the room got colder and colder all the while the thermostat saying 72. Looked for a blanket in closet none provided. Too late to report since I would have to get up dress and wait for service with a early day planned. Windows near only desk in room leak cold to the point of needed a jacket and booties to work. Next morning I was tested by hotel to ask of my stay. Advised of issue. the response I got was only to schedule a time to meet me in room to investigate. My response was that I could not give a time, I was working not stay in in hotel for pleasure. Asked if it wasn't their responsibility to have a working system before giving me the room. They finally agreed to leave a blanket ( they left two and they raised the thermostat to 77, I had tried raising to75 over night with no effect. still cold next night , raised thermostat to 80 , felt vent and they were cold. Between 12-1 P m I finally heard fan come on and smelled the normal burnt dust smell of a heater coming on the first time of season. Also wanted to order room service so stopped at front desk to asked if they had room service since I found no menu in room. Rather than giving me a menu they said they would send someone to room with it. Why not just give it to me when I asked. Seem to always insist I be in room to get any response. I think you must consider that when traveling alone having strangers show up at night is not a comfortable/ scary experience. Plus I was in San Jose to work not hang out in hotel room other than to sleep and shower. Then after I got room service menu. Ordered a simple hamburger , specified cannot eat Dijon mustard. was told it would take up to an hour which was ok. What was not ok was waiting an hour to receive food that was cold fries as well a burger with the mustard I cannot eat. If delivered when made or made before delivered it would have been ok. Had to wait also for delivery person to get the right mustard. People were always polite through out hotel. Just seem to but all the responsibility of every service on coming to my room. Room it self had a long narrow entry hall also making exit with a larger service cart limited. I have stayed at many Fairmont s and found service of every kind excellent. This one I will not recommend or use if at all possible. Many options in the areas around the convention center that I have also stayed in do not have these issues

We were upgraded, which was nice. However, room was really dated. Couch was dirty/old. Shower was old. Bathroom sink water would either be HOT or not (no in between). Great property, but would rather had regular room than very dated room (#404).

Experience at Fairmont is becoming very uneven. During my most recent stay, room was not being furnished with glasses. Every day I had to call the room service for glasses and endure long waits. Fixtures, like faucets, have been a long standing problem, and I have provided feedback to that effect before. Water is either too hot or not hot at all.

Your hotel was wonderful. Clean, beautiful. Your staff was warm and inviting. One of the best nights sleep I ever had traveling. I could not get a hot shower and that left me with a negative attitude.

Water pressure in shower was terrible. Very loud vibrating noises in the wall. Beds were comfortable. Checkin was good.

This particular visit was still good but I noticed the room was never stocked with water, not even the $11 dollars ones I drank. By the end of my stay there was no water in the room.

« One night in San Jose for a concert »

Overall - a good visit. I stayed in the Fairmont about 20 years ago and wanted to come back. Coming to San Jose for the Jingle Ball Concert at the SAP. Initially picked the Fairmont due to the fact that I was familiar with the hotel but also, as it turned out, was a very good location - we ended up walking to the concert. It was good to get a package that included parking - that was a deciding point also. When checking in - it was about 3 or 3:30pm and our room was not ready. We had originally planned to have a jr. suite package that included a $35 credit and parking - that is how we rationalized the over $300 cost. I had also joined the Presidents club - who knows, might stay in another Fairmont somewhere. The front desk person that checked us in told us that we would have to come back due to the fact that our room was not ready. We kinda wanted to get into the room and rest/get ready for the night. She offered us a deluxe room that was ready - we said that would be ok - but was surprised that she told us that there would be no change in the price - jr suite vs. a deluxe room. i would think there would be a credit due to the fact that on your website a king jr suite prices out at $259 and a deluxe room is $249. She didn't explain much about the change, but we took the smaller room. Overall - we seemed like a bother to the person who checked us in and when we walked around the corner to the elevators - we both agreed that we didn't feel like her highest priority at the moment and that she desperately needed a break! We found our room nice and clean - the bathroom fixtures were a bit dated but what I remembered from 20 years ago. We got ready and wend down to the lobby bar - there was a lot of activity going on and we went to the end of the bar to order drinks. We were helped by the bartender (with many tattoos) and again felt like we got in the way of another associate at the Fairmont - we didn't feel like we were a priority at the moment of being serviced at the bar. Not that we expected or demanded over the top service - but hey, it's the Fairmont. Not the cheapest hotel in San Jose. We sat in the lobby and waited for our friends to join us. There we ordered some food and additional drinks. We were helped by a Hispanic gentleman there that was working the lobby (bar) floor - he was wearing a suit. He really connected with us and asked how our stay was and if we needed anything. He was very helpful and refreshing. We asked ourselves where HE had been all afternoon and that he should speak to the other two associates we came in contact with. He came back several times and we appreciated it. The next morning I ended up having a phone call appointment that I had to take and the front desk allowed up a late check out and we appreciated that. We checked out at the desk and there we met two charming ladies that really left us with a good feeling about our stay.

The staff was amazing in terms of any need I had. The room was beautiful. From the valet to the front desk to the housekeeping team and room service. Truly this kind of customer service has become rare.

« Nice room »

We always stay at the Fairmont every year for Christmas in the Park. We were a little disappointed that the hotel wasn’t decorated like it usually is this time of year. We stayed on Dec. 2. The room was supposed to be 2 beds but we only got 1 so a roll away was delivered. The bed was very comfortable and the poolside private patio was very nice. Of course service is always great.

I have long preferred the San Jose Fairmont when traveling to Silicon Valley, and this visit was no different. I appreciate the professionalism of the stay, the warm greeting received from all staff, cleanliness, efficiency -- essentially, everything!

« Check-In at 6PM is ridiculous »

Honestly, I want my money back. I called 4 different times and learned something new each time, so customer service booking was ridiculous, except for the first and last one which was finally successful. I got to check into my first room at 4, but the 2nd one was not ready until i texted them an hour and a hald later. At the front desk, he told me he could send the keys up to me. That didn't happen until i texted about it at 6. When I got the keys, I said I waited 2 hours for it, and he said it's really busy. That's obvious, and there needs to be some sort of compensation for that loss of 2 hours for my 2nd room. The website says check in is at 4.

Quiet, clean and inviting while also enjoying the central location in the Downtown area. The entire check-in/check-out experience went so smoothly and easy. I love being a part of the President's Club since I am also extremely satisfied with everything that happens within the hotel. Everyone is polite and go the extra length to make all my needs met in superior manner. Our evening dinner in the steak house was outstanding and service was unmatched by any other place I have gone to. We were so comfortable, at home and enjoyed the beauty that the Fairmont always offers me.

« DESERVING »

The suite was nice, enjoyed the living room area while my husband slept in but I have to tell you that the shower was a miserable experience! The water pressure was very low and the removable shower head was extremely hard to take off and on and the angle was hard to put back in to position when I replaced it. I suggest management test it out before the guests do. Otherwise the staff was great .

Room was large but dated. Lighting was poor. Need a light between the double beds, and a better light for makeup. And one of the reading lights was out. Also there was no wine opener and we found a pill on the floor.

« Always enjoy our stay there!!! »

Every year we stay about 2-3 times and every stay has been an amazing one! Great staff and suites are great! Keep up the good work! The only one complaint is the early check-in.... we get an option for it and never happens. We get an email letting us know that we can and what time is arrival and then to find out we can not check in early Other than that love it!!
