Fantastic - all around. From the way the staff are regularly offering water, to the greetings that all of them offer anywhere on the property, to the quality of the food. It was an outstanding stay, and definitely separated you from other venues.

It was good except when I told the people at the Front desk in the lobby that checked us in. I didn’t have my phone becouse it was in my suitcase. The suitcase was being held to go to the room , as soon as the room is ready. Told them to call my girlfriends phone to notify us when the room was ready. They called my phone , not my girlfriends phone to notify us the room was ready. Of Course we didn’t get the message till later when I went up to the desk and asked about it. Second thing , we got room service every night for dinner . The food was not that great. It could have been better . Especially coming from an upscale hotel spa. But other then that the place was Beautiful and relaxing . The staff were very nice for the most part. They tried their best to do the right thing and provide service.

The hotel was nice. For a 5-star hotel, it was a nice hotel. We stayed in the second largest room. A suite. It was nice. Could use some updating, but nothing major. One weird thing, we had our room turned down and also made up the next day and numerous times they would leave dirty dishes and plates out or in the room. They literally just made the bed then left the room. I've never had an experience where dishes or trash wasn't picked up. I called housekeeping to notify them of the issue. As a result, the room service and quality was significantly below average, esp considering we were paying 2.5k/night. My wife went to the spa for the day. She had a great time there. We ate breakfast and that was great. We paid significantly extra for a fantastic room and a great room experience. We didnt get our moneys worth there. A bit of a disappointment. Staff was very friendly from checkin to checkout. That was good. The room issue was kind of major considering how much we paid for a nice room with great service. As a result, we probably won't be back.

This Hotel was truly spectacular. It was beautiful, clean, the food was phenomenal, and the staff was outstanding. They cater to their guests. We loved it there and can't wait to go back.

Most aspects were lovely. The kids club however was a huge disappointment. It’s called the Explorers club, but it’s in a room with no windows, and a few large screen TVs. The hotel should really go investigate other kids clubs in comparable hotels - last year we stayed at Pelican Hill for example. The kids club was a thousand times better. At least when they were there they saw daylight, had some aquatic activities, and didn’t spend so much time just watching tv. Also they allow parents to go off property. In the end, although we had a good time, every time we dropped them off at the kids club I felt like a terrible parent leaving them there. I was also told that it was bc it was low season (3rd week August) and that’s why they couldn’t take kids outside to play. That is unbelievable as I was told there were 7-8 kids at some moments. Why they couldn’t have had another person helping is shameful for a hotel of this price/standing. Unfortunately even if they did they still need to improve the facility and find a better room as it is the most depressing kids club I have ever seen in a nice hotel.

good but room want ready until after 5pm. It was my bday and noting "special" was done. In the past, there was always something special in the room (wine, chocolate, etc). Restaurant reservations were messed up and no compensation was made for our party of eight at Amaya, spending over $800.

We've been staying there every year for last 7 years. Rooms and maid service good as usual. disappointing experience in Acayma restaurant last 2 years. food and service below par. You have a lobster roll available only at your lobby restaurant but it opens at 2pm!! why not open earlier or offer it at other restaurants. It's good. Golf was quoted to me as costing$195 but upon checkout was $250. person checking me out did nothing to solve the difference. Not friendly.

« The short stay exceeded our expectations »

We celebrated our 50th Anniversary last year with a wonderful stay at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. We were so impressed we returned again to celebrate our 51st. We have been fortunate in our travels to stay at some of the finest 5-star properties in the world. The Fairmont Grand Del Mar would rank, in our opinion, in the top 5! We intend to make the Fairmont Grand Del Mar our go to property to celebrate our anniversary.
