« Incredible »

We stayed 2 nights. The room was wonderful with a door to a greasy area for our dog. That makes traveling with your pet so much easier. We had 3 meals at Amaya. All 3 were excellent. Service thru out the hotel was unbelievabley good. We were so impressed with everything we are already thinking about when we can go again. The golf was fantastic. Our caddy, Chris, was so nice and helpful. My husband thinks he saved us both about 6 strokes

It was fantastic! I loved the attention to detail. Although the spa was wonderful it was tainted with the phone call I received requesting me to move my time up in order for them to accommodate a “Very Special Guest”. That was offensive as I think I should be “Special “ as well. The stay at your hotel was a treat I was giving myself (I am local).

We have made any annual visit to the Fairmont Grand Del Mar during the 4th of July holiday and again it was wonderful. The resort facilities are the best, the staff is attentive, and food and beverage service is excellent. We enjoy the adult pool experience as a quiet oasis from our busy lives. I also had an opportunity to play a round of golf and enjoyed it very much.

Our 3rd stay at Grand Del Mar could be our last. The problem: We added-on late check-out but then canceled the reservation (original reservation# 13… cancelation# 13…) and rebooked for different dates. Somehow the add-on stayed tied to our new reservation# 13… which we didn't want and you shouldn't have done. I now have a $100 charge on my credit card for the late check-out. We checked out before noon approx 11:45am. After getting back home, I called the front desk. I was told we didn't check out until 3:15pm which is not true. Upon check out the front desk gave me a paper invoice which doesn't show the time. There has to be some other way in your system to see the time. In any case, your front desk took my word and promised to return the $100, but I haven't seen the reimbursement to my credit card. If the problem is the late check-out add-on, it should not have been carried over from a canceled reservation. Please return the $100 to my credit card asap. We are not BIG spenders, but you would lose our business and gain negative word-of-mouth if you don't follow through with the promise to reimburse this relatively small amount. All other room charges including room service and poolside looked good. The correct remaining balance was $1,059.17 which was charged to my card separately from the $100 error.

The hotel itself is terrific. Very nice and spacious rooms with beautiful grounds. The staff is uniformly amazing. I stay in a lot of hotels, in many countries, and I would say that the staff at the Grand Del Mar is one of the best.

Beautiful hotel. Beautiful grounds. Cleanest swimming pools I've seen in a while. Explorers club was definitely fun and enjoyable for the kids. SERVICE LACKING! There was absolutely zero customer service and true, genuine care and concern for the customer. I was not only disappointed but with some of the experiences I was just simply angry at the lack of care. Best service we got was from house keeping and one of the waiters at Amaya. We had an incredible experience at high tea but shortly after tea my entire family (wife, eight month old daughter, 2.5 year old son, and myself) got food poisoning. We were all nauseous and vomited. My son vomited several times including on our ride to the San Diego Fair that we were looking forward to. We had to return back to the hotel that afternoon, have the car seat and car cleaned, and basically stayed inside for the rest of the afternoon and evening. We didn't have dinner. We didn't enjoy the pool. We couldn't go out! We reported this to management but nothing was done to put us at ease. I was on the phone with our pediatrician all night worried about the kids. I do appreciate the executive chef calling me and letting me know that he would report this to the health department. I also appreciated him coming down the next morning to meet me and the family at breakfast. Not a single hotel manager checked in with us, offered their apology, or tried to make things better. In fact, I was charged $20 for laundry for my son's throw up on the car seat covers (two small pieces of cloth not any bigger than a large t-shirt). I tipped the bellhop $20 for removing the car seat covers and I'm not complaining about the cost more so than I am about how incredibly insensitive and ridiculous all of this was. Other issues we had: 1) There were old kids socks left in the room (in the closet). I had to toss these in the trash. This was unacceptable. I didn’t report this because there were so many other issues going on that I just simply forgot honestly. You all forgot to empty our refrigerator (which is something I requested before arrival because we needed the refrigerator space for breast milk for my daughter). I emptied it out myself and then about 30 minutes later someone came and took everything down. It also took 24 hours+ and two reminder calls to get you all to have someone from the equestrian center to call me back about a possible ride for my wife and son. When they did call back they only gave us a one hour window to come in because apparently there was some sort of camp going on which limited availability and time. If you are going to have camps during visits then you should not advertise horse rides on the website. The kid was super excited about going to the stable and seeing horses. Another disappointment. Please also work on the service at the pools. You have beautiful pools and grounds. The service is lacking! It took forever and some to get a drink. The drinks were not consistent. I ordered maybe like 15 racing mules and got 15 different versions of it (e.g. different cups, different garnishes, one had cucumbers inside, one did not, one had bitters inside, one did not). There is no reason why this beautiful resort can’t have the service that it should for guests.

Excellent accommodations, clean room and outstanding service. The hotel is a little difficult to navigate because of size and getting to the pool, etc., has a learning curve. That said, I would definitely go back as the stay and service were relaxing and efficient.

It is an absolutely beautiful, quiet, and tranquil property. The service from the bell men, to the front desk, to the concierge, and all the restaurant staff were very professional, extremely courteous, and helpful. Upon check out the staff already had the car pulled up to the front and loaded with our luggage. The dining experience at The Addison restaurant was 'on point'. The service at this resort can't be beat! I really enjoyed my weekend stay here! Rick D, San Diego, CA.
