We had a wonderful week at the Fairmont Mayakoba. The staff is what set the trip apart for us. The resort is lovely, the room was spacious and well-kept- but the staff is what took our vacation from good to great. The incredible service started from pick up to the airport and did not stop our entire stay. Our check-in process was smooth and efficient, our butler Julia was incredible, and each staff member we came across greeted us with a smile and greeting. Julia- there are no words for her. She went above and beyond and was so kind to us and our son. She was a true gift to have during our stay. We will always remember Alberto at Brisas breakfast. We truly enjoyed getting to know him while we were there and are looking forward to seeing him again (maybe next time as a butler!) at our next visit. Edy at the beach was our best service at the pool or beach that we had (and they all were great)- but he was funny, engaging, kind and prompt. I haven't been to another resort with this level of hospitality. We chose this resort after visiting the Fairmont Kea Lani (which we LOVED) and the level of hospitality at Mayakoba just surpassed any other we've experienced. We were traveling with our baby for the first time and every accommodation was made for him that was possible. Ami and Rodrigo- the two babysitters we used- were both so sweet and kind. We used them while our baby was napping or sleeping but we felt that he was in the safest of hands. They were both so kind and my son and I were given gifts from them both on our departure. We also were very impressed with how hard the men were working on the beach to clean up the seaweed. We had a few minor issues and have a few suggestions. The first and probably biggest issue- the crib that we requested came with dirty sheets (likely from the transfer to the room, but still not okay) and was dusty. We brought our own sheets anyways but had to clean the dust off of the crib. For an infant especially, this was disappointing upon our arrival. Julia was very apologetic when we told her. There was a roach one day in our room- we didn't mention it- and while it wasn't a big deal to us Floridians I could see how it would be to another guest. The rooftop pool was wonderful but hard to enjoy without much shade. We didn't get to enjoy it as much as we'd like to have while our baby was napping because of the heat. A portable umbrella up there would go a very long way! Finally, I came home with a parasite. Not a huge deal and common when traveling, but since we didn't leave the property our entire stay it definitely was from something I ate. ( I think it was the raw fish on top of the salad from room service? upon reflection- not best idea but my issues started that evening) Thank you for a wonderful week! Overall we really felt so grateful to be able to take the kind of vacation that we did.

The property was gorgeous! I loved the bikes, I just wish you had more younger kid bikes. The pool were very clean, the staff and servers were very attentive and nice and welcoming!

Everything was perfection. This trip was fantastic and exceeded our expectations. We initially booked Fairmont Mayakoba because of a good vacation price. We will absolutely be back within the next 4-6 months at whatever the going rate is when we would like to return. It is one of the best trips we have taken in a while. The food was excellent, our room was beautiful, and the atmosphere at the beach was relaxing- the beach service was exemplary. I very much appreciated the great shade options at the beach!

Great but beware of conventions

As many hotels, this hotel must fill empty rooms during the low season. Sometimes this is done by hosting conventions. This time it was a mess. Conventioneers were running loudly and rampant, without any control. They lined up a large number of full and empty drinks by the edge of the swimming pool. They kept drinks in the swimming pool on floating coasters. My wife and I were literally pushed out of our pool lounges and we had to move to another place. The staff did nothing to get this under control. Once they were gone by Friday evening, the resort returned to its great service and atmosphere. It is a shame that the experience and efforts of your great staff get ruined by conventioneers. Please act when people are misbehaving. Your beautiful resort gets a black mark during those days.

Wonderful trip. The room/grounds/hotel was beautiful, well maintained, warm and welcoming. The service at poolside was very slow, both for setting up chairs and for ordering and getting food. It was also a bit slow waiting for golf carts. I also think walking paths should be better marked to get to different places. Perhaps even distances should be listed.

I've always wanted to stay at Mayakoba for a beach vacation and this year we were able to enjoy a weeks worth of sun. The property was very nice. We were able to get an all inclusive package (I think this was a brand new option at the Fairmont). The food was great, the service was up to the standards of a Fairmont and the staff went over the top to make our stay wonderful. With that being said there was one restaurant that I did not go back to. La Laguna was were the buffet was and I found the food there and the service there terrible. (My friend was served uncooked grey shrimp). So we just never returned there. The other restaurants made up for it in spades. The Lobby bar and restaurant (The Hix) quickly became on of our favorite gathering places for tacos, guacamole and margaritas. Special thanks to Manuel Montalvo our bartender at The Hix. He was so attentive and really took great care of our group. I do feel like all of Mexico waters down the alcohol and sadly the Fairmont was no different. However, the drinks were flavorful, delicious and no one was ever drunk! We also tried out the Spa and loved every minute of the experience- top quality! And it goes without saying the golf course was in spectacular shape. Worth every penny! Sadly, the beach had seaweed, an on going problem in Mexico, but they had staff there everyday getting it cleaned up for the guest.

The attack of the Sargazo...

Eight couples vacationing together celebrating 50+ years of friendship. The eight husbands organized a long weekend at Fairmont MayaCoba by contacting directly the Sales Department. They were efficient and have great tools with websites and links that worked properly. I don't rate them 10 because they failed to inform our group of the serious problem of "el sargazo", an invasion of floating, bad smelling plants coming all the way from Brasil into the beautiful Yucatan beaches. I understand that there is nothing the hotel can do to fix this inconvenience but don't try to hide reality. The Tourism Sector in Mexico has to learn how to deal with el sargazo. Exactly as they deal with hurricane season starting in June. These plants are a pest... we considered cancelling vacation. Smartly we didn't and had an unforgettable experience. The personnel is kind and efficient (more kind than efficient) but I rate them as 10.

We were looking for a relaxing stay full of creature comforts and Fairmont Mayakoba delivered! The food was great, service was impeccable and the property...absolutely beautiful. We were very pleased with the entire staff. The only thing that could have made it better would have been if dine-in room service was included in the all-inclusive package. Even so, we will be back.

BELL MEN ARE REALLY NOT HELPFUL AT ALL, WE ASKED FOR A RIDE TO THE ROOM AT CHECK IN AND WE HAVE TO WAIT, I SAID TO THE DRIVER THAT IT WAS MY FIRST TIME ON PROPERTY AND HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO GET TO MY SUITE, HE ANSWERED, WALK STRAIGHT AHEAD AND YOU WILL FIND IT. NEXT MORNING CALLED TO GET A RIDE BACK TO THE LOBBY, NOBODY ANSWER THE PHONE, WENT TO THE STATION AND WAIT LIKE 20 MINUTES. WENT TO HAVE LUNCH AT THE BEACH RESTAURANT, ORDER MEALS AND 35 MINUTES LATER, NO MEALS AT ALL, I SPOKE TO THE CAPTAIN AND HE ASKED, DID YOU ORDER???? BAD ATTITUDE AND WE GOT STARTERS, SOUP, AND MAIN DISHES AT THE SAME TIME. FOOD IS GREAT BUT SERVICE IS REALLY AWFUL.
