« disappointed »

- booked king size bed = received queen size bed. - requested a larger room/corner room (if possible) seeing my husband is claustrophobic. Now had we stayed only One Night, it could have been except able. - Our room was changed to a larger room but again still a Queen Size bed and no Ventilation in bathroom ( which is required on SEVERAL LEVELS) - being disturbed at 8:24AM by cleaning lady wanting to clean our room. Then when I mentioned that we were sleeping she asked what time we would be leaving. (I was not at all happy being woken up and being questioned trying to enjoy my vacation seeing I have Health Issues *depression* - All 3 mornings at breakfast the wait time was over whelming and no reservation policy was permitted, therefore we never ate breakfast at your hotel. Living in Montreal, we go often to Quebec City and our point of our getaway was to local a place for family and friends reunion, but this stay was not encouraging.

« Hotel Excellent- Dufferin breakfast buffet NOT worth the high price! »

Hotel stay was excellent was only extremely disappoited with the quality of the buffet food at the Dufferin. High prices for cafeteria type buffet where items in serving trays were soggy from steam(crepes,waffles) or slightly undercooked(sausages). The service from staff was excellent so we felt bad making a fuss but left feeling ripped off. We were also almost accidently charged for someone eles service but luckily we saw the mistake and the reception was quick to fix it. We enjoyed the bar 1608 and the Sam restaurant very much. The service and quality there was excellent. We usually stay at Fairmount hotels as they are usually excellent in everyway so we feel bad the overpriced cafeteria breakfast tainted our experience this time, I wish we had ordered room service instead!

It was a beautiful hotel. The hot water tap in bathtub was wrong which caused me some confusion. We thought it would be special to have dinner at the Champlain restaurant but the menu had nothing on it that we would like and my husband was ill after dinner. The room service menu had items on it that we would like so we were fooled that going to the restaurant in person would have the same menu.

Overall an excellent experience. Only issue was the fact that we could hardly get into the bar for a drink and had to keep leaving the hotel. For a hotel of this standard to have such a small bar area is unheard of.

« Great property, not prepared for volume of guests »

Wonderful property, staff was very kind and friendly but did not seem prepared overall for volume of guests. Made up for all little issues with complimentary offers but it would have been better if the issues did not occur to begin with. Also- why in goodness' sake did the hotel boutique stop selling stamps????? Seems ridiculous- this is a convenience I would expect from a 3 star hotel let alone a Fairmont flagship property (especially given the historic mailboxes on site!)

The hotel boasts to be a top of the line hotel, but Check in took 20 minutes ( only 3 people ahead of us) no apology, the person that Checked us in wax just in a bad mood. The room is supposed to be classic, it really looks old. Not worth the price not worry the stay. Sorry

The experience at the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City really needs to be split into to categories. First the service itself was top notch having the Gold experience. Original room was leaking water in the bathroom and the heater was so noisy that it woke us up during the night but Lisa was fantastic and helped to upgrade us to another room and afterwards everything was fantastic.

« This was our sixth visit to the Chateau Frontenac and it was exceptional, as all our visits are. »

The 14… suite is a must. There are views of old town, downtown and the river. The suite is on the 14th floor, directly down the corridor from the Fairmont Gold Concierge staff. The staff is beyond professional and so warm and friendly. They truly went above and beyond for us during this stay. I am on a special diet and they made sure that each breakfast included what I needed and they surprised me each evening with a special appetizer dish created from my diet. Kudos to the kitchen staff as well. Lisa, Stephanie, Simon, Laura Marie, Sandrine, Sonia are truly lovely people and it was a pleasure to chit chat with them in French (or English). It is quite evident that they love their work because it shows through their treatment of clients. They made sure we wanted for nothing. We have to call special attention to Antoine and Marie. Marie initially organized my diet requests with the kitchen staff and we've known her now since 2014. Like the other concierge staff members, she is kind, thoughtful, respectful, professional and fun! Antoine is a super person who can switch from joking with us to being completely professional in a heartbeat. We travel to Quebec often, summer and winter, because it's such a beautiful city and I have the opportunity to practice my French but the concierge staff plays a big role in our returning to this castle of dreams come true. We would never stay anywhere else but the Chateau.

« Winter wonderland »

Please understand that it was your staff that helped us have the most enjoyable Winter stay at Chateau Frontnac. That Includes Pierre at front door, the helper who retrieved my sneakers from my parked car, the server at the restaurant who suggested a specific wine to the concerige and so on. Please remember these staff members in both your review and their compensation. We will return bcause of them . And of course the fine and historic hotel!
