Told staff it was our honeymoon at check in. Stayed in a nice room and didn’t even get a chocolate or anything with any mention of the momentous event (let a alone champagne). Have stayed in far lesser ranked hotels with better welcoming experiences. Beds and pillows were old. As younger people at the hotel we were treated worse from looks and helpfulness as compared to older guests. Wouldn’t spend this much money here again esp as NYC residents. I expect no reply to this message either as it’s in line with poor hospitality.

Have stayed at the Plaza many times. Staff was not nearly as attentive as in the past. Quality of food and drink has slipped. Housekeeping not up to normal standards. Parts of the stay were excellent to be sure- but overall was not up to expectations.

It had been a lifetime dream to be able to stay at the infamous Plaza Hotel in New York and unfortunately it did not live up to expectations, mainly due to the service rather than the facilities. We were only able to stay in New York for less than 24hours as we flying on to another country but decided we would pay the premium hotel price given we did not know when we may have such opportunity again. We had requested an early check in of 11am in advance due to arriving early morning so we could get the most of the hotel facilities. 24hours before arriving we rang the hotel to check the room would be ready and it was confirmed by someone on front desk called Claire all was ready for our arrival and the hotel looked forward to greeting us. When we arrived at the hotel at around 10:30am we were advised our room would not be ready until 3pm. Our friends who arrived with us did not request early check in but somehow were given an early check in and a room upgrade. When we explained to front desk we had received verbal confirmation of early check in we were challenged and told repeatedly we were mistaken. It was advised we could either wait in the lobby or outside the hotel until the room was ready. We explained that after a 14hour flight to get to New York we wanted to shower before visiting the city. Eventually the front desk agreed to provide a room to us which we were thankful for but the way we were made to feel something started our time off in new York on a disappointing note. We also found out that WiFi was free in the reception lobby but when in the room we were unable to activate unless we paid for it which was expensive and pointless given our stay in the hotel was so short. If we could go back in time we would have selected a different hotel as now we simply have negative memories when we think of The Plaza.

Hotel is Beautiful and great location.. but after a few days @ Hotel I noticed something on the ceiling above the bed... First I thought it was the smoke detectors. But after looking @ it it looked like a camera? I have pictures I took of it Can I get an answer as to what it is? I’m from California. I thought having camera in room is Illegal???

The only reason I am giving the service a 9 instead of a 10 was the service we received at the bar. There was an employee named Chris who was simply beyond rude. I don’t believe he represented this luxury hotel well. I also do not believe he likes what he does here. I think he feels less and doesn't quite treat the people who visit the hotel with respect. After visiting the bar my grandparents and I took the elevator to go to our room. As we were standing there was a couple who joined us and started speaking about the horrible service they had received at the bar. I couldn’t help but ask if their servers name was Chris. Sure enough it was and they said they had never experienced such treatment before. (He was bald with glasses)

Staff and room exceeded expectations. Somewhat frustrating having to search for coffee every morning (and getting dinged paying for it) given the cost and service reputation of the hotel. Seems like something this basic should be easy (and not feel like you are getting "nickel and dimed" by having to pay extra for it).

Upon arrival we were invited to upgrade our reservation at a reasonable rate, and the suite with 2 bathrooms, slept 4, with an interior view of the courtyard was lovely. The elevators were out of service for several hours on Saturday morning - one had to call the security number for an attendant to come to your floor and escort you to a service elevator (odd experience). It rained throughout our stay. We were glad to have an umbrella in our suite, however it was broken and when we asked at the desk for another one, we were told to call housekeeping. Since we were already in the lobby that was not ideal and we wondered why "we" would need to call? The breakfast room is beautiful, but the breakfast menu is nothing special and servers didn't distinguish the difference between milk and cream - which is essential to the pleasure of morning coffee. Overall, the hotel is beautiful and service was good. However, the total experience was not as "pristine" as expected.

Three of us stayed in a beautiful one bedroom suite. Although three of us were registered at the hotel provisions were only made for two guests. We arrived at 8.30pm and had to ask for the sofa bed to be made up. We constantly had to ask for the sofa bed to be made up. We also had to request on a daily basis additional glasses, teacup and guest amenities. We had to request an extra pair of slippers and robe. When the robe arrived there was a huge rip in the sleeve. We requested a replacement. There seemed to be a lot of staff, who were all pleasant. The room was beautiful, but the toilet roll holder and bath plug need fixing. The worst thing about our stay was the noise. Every morning between 4.00am until 7.00am. I think it was construction.

Everything wonderful except the failure of two of the three elevators for over 12 hours. The repair people took forever and there was not a good plan in place to use the freight elevators to fill the void. Worse, we were on P1 (the 20th floor) where there was no freight elevator access. Throughout this stressful period (we were trying to make it to scheduled wedding events and sometimes had to wait 10 minutes for the elevator), no one from management apologized or offered us any room rental reduction
