We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with our young family. The first night in our room, our daughter found Motrin pills on the ground and was trying to eat them. It was one of the most disgusting, ridiculous things that's ever happened to us in a hotel. Inexcusable.

Started great with a beautiful upgrade, however repeated issues with keys not working on hallway door access (4th floor). Room not serviced on our second day. My companion had always wanted to stay at The Plaza due to its reputation. We were let down by the inconveniences, particularly for the high price.

Room did not have a bathtub even though I requested one specifically because we were staying three nights. Asked Concierge to book dinner reservation. Specifically wanted to ensure table had tablecloths - was told restaurant did only to find out they didn't. Also requested a table by the window. Did not get. I'd have been satisfied with at least one request but got neither. Also was made to wait 30 minutes for table. Room staff were polite and courteous. Have stayed at the Plaza many times before. This was the most disappointing. Will have to wait to see if taking the time to write a review has any impact.

We enjoyed our stay at The Plaza. Room service was prompt and the food was great. The fitness center was clean and well-equipped, and our experience at the Guerlain Spa was top-notch. Afternoon Tea was superb.

Some details amazing. Chalk it up to a handful of great staff. Other than that. Mediocre maid service, cheap sheets and horrible pillows. Terrible Mini bar. Slow elevators boring bar. The plaza used to be the lap of luxury. It just seem like a Desperate attempt to stay afloat relying on a name that will always be a legend.

From the moment we checked we were treated extremely well from the check in person Bonn, to Rapha at the concierge to Kazi in The Palms Restaurant to our butler Edith. The service was superb. Furthermore, your concierge staff was extremely helpful in assisting me in purchasing an item from the Eloise display which was the only one available so that I could bring it to my grandaughter as a gift, they went above and beyond any expectations.

It’s like coming home to New York, the glorious and facade on Fifth across from the gleaming General Sherman, the famous stately profile with the horse carriages lined up to define that special corner of Central Park, and the vibrant history of the city swirling around. When Freddie (or Neil or Tony) greet you at the red-carpeted steps with a warm “Welcome back”, you know all will be well. As with all superb places, it is the staff that really makes it special. Waheed at the Bell desk, Bonn at the front desk, a concierge staff that is so eager to find just the right touch (I’d hoped she’d like those roses, sir) to a room service kitchen and staff that gets poached eggs served just right to your room . . . it’s all just right, every time.

Almost perfect. Everything was fabulous until day 2, when I was taking a shower that morning and our water was cold. I thought maybe a lot of others in the hotel were showering and that caused it, but even if so that was unexpected and quite unpleasant. The next night I had a hot bath, but then the sink water wouldn’t get hot after. There seemed to be a very limited supply of hot water.

Sooo wanted to like the Plaza but ended up badly disappointed. Lived and worked in NYC decades ago and back then Plaza was an icon. Stayed there this trip now with our son while visiting. Hotel room was fine but service was just awful. Front desk check in was nice enough (and side note, do appreciate early check in) but we booked via Amex Platinum travel (they do great job vetting top hotels so figured Plaza was up to Amex standards) and often do so and upon check in, you the the rundown of Amex benefits. The front desk person was clueless. We ended up coming down much later and inquired if there was any info re Amex platinum benefits and someone tracked down an envelope with my name on it that should've been given to us at checkin. Ate at palm court - food and service was just awful. Is this really a geoffrey zakarian helmed? The avocado toast was soggy and a diner would've done a better job (contrast that to the Four Seasons downtown restaurant dish which is amazing). The weekend buffet was laughable at best. Ate there on 2 days and while servers were nice, they didn't clear dishes, didn't clear the setting (we were party of 3 but left the 4th setting at table entire time). Food took FOREVER to get. The best part was when our son ordered a smoothie and when it arrived we asked for straw (saw some right next to us on the bar and pointed to it - Server said he would be back for one and never returned. We literally just reached over 50 feet to grab it ourselves). Perhaps it is because Fairmont took it over but Plaza used to be an iconic hotel but not it is a mere shell of itself. If it is on par with Four Seasons, Mandarin, Peninsula etc, the level of service seriously needs to be re-evaluated. Sadly, next NYC visit, we will definately not be returning.

The hotel is beautiful...the rooms are luxurious, the lobby is an experience on it's own. I was expecting unparalleled service and did not receive it. Check in was at 3:00pm, and our room wasn't available until 4:20pm. That was after being told at 2:30pm it would be only 5-10 min., and at 3:00pm that "they were really busy and it should be ready shortly. We did receive a room upgrade, but was surprised that we had to keep following up, and was told incorrect information on multiple occasions. I was also told there would be a $50 charge per room, but that we would receive credit for that when we spent at the bars or restaurants. I spent well above that, and did not recieve the credit.

The suite was excellent but yet the experience was quite bland overall. The reception looked like it was a work in progress and had no grand pictures or presence. Too many red ropes giving the appearance of a safety site . No tea and coffee in the suite and no daily treats and certainly no butler services at all despite booking a 2 bedroom suite

Staff was lovely, room was great. There were a few issues with the room however, the upstairs TV did not work and neither did the shower. Additionally, as a general suggestion and not a complaint, I would recommend having some hooks in the downstairs bathroom.
