Having pre-conceived high expectations often leads to disappointment. Having said that I’m happy to say that the plaza met or exceeded all of our expectations. The service we received from the front desk, concierge, room service, and the personal butler was exemplary. Our room and the hotel itself was very luxurious and opulent. Our only recommendation would be to re-introduce a fine dining Dining Room. You expect one in the hotel of this calibre and the plaza deserves one.

« The Plaza made my daughter feel like a princess for her 7th birthday. »

Our experience was perfect! The hotel and its staff went out of their way to make my daughter feel special on her 7th birthday. We arrived to a present and balloons in our beautiful, upgraded room then left to explore Central Park. When we returned we found another birthday surprise - a delicious chocolate cake with a candle. Staff members went out of their way to tell my daughter happy birthday. Our room was always tended to perfectly and all of the amenities were terrific. We will no doubt be back again. Every day my daughter says she wishes she was still at The Plaza, and I agree!

No one greeted me at the door on arrival. Took my own bag in to discover I was in some sort of tourist attraction with a lobby full of people taking selfies. I then found an entrance to the left for the hotel guests. Really lacked the exclusivity you expect when paying to stay at a hotel such as the Plaza. Room was a good size but there was a HUGE ball of hair stuck to the side of the shower. This stayed there the entire time I was there. I had no shower gel in the bathroom for 2 days and had to use hand soap. Furthermore, there was a tumbler glass, left by the previous guest, on the floor outside my room. It stayed there for 2 days before someone picked it up. The most disappointing however was the experience I had when I visited the upstairs hotel bar on my second night. The service from the gentleman in a grey suite and corn rolls was extremely disappointing. His abruptness, lack of any consideration or general friendliness towards customers was almost embarrassing. I travel to new York every 2-3 weeks from London. I have never stayed in a hotel that felt like a shopping mall before. I don't think I will stay at the Plaza again. When you stay at 5 star hotels on a regular basis you really notice the best. The Plaza is not even in the same league. It feels like a 4 star with chandeliers. I would be very concerned if I was the management of this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at The Plaza overnight for a wedding. The staff, the room and the food were fantastic. Everyone is so graceful and professional, always greeting you with a smile. We have stayed at The Plaza before, and each time is better than the last.

For the first time ever our stay at the Plaza Hotel was average at best. We arrived to no doorman. When the front desk called for a bellman to store our bags there was no one and hours later when we returned to check in there was no bell man to get our bags. Housekeeping did not provide enough towels and one day if our stay they never came and had to be called repeatedly. Our room was also SO cold and since there was no heat it was uncomfortably cold much if our stay. We were lass than pleased for the first time ever with our stay.

Our initial room was next to the service elevators and the mechanicals banged and made nose all night long. We were then moved to another suite which was much more what we expected for The Plaza. While the staff was accommodating, they were hard to find, get a hold of and generally did not seem eager to provide outstanding service. Our butler never brought ice as we requested. The empty bottles and glasses were left out even after the cleaning service occurred. I can go on but I think you get the point. When we are staying at the Plaza and spending $1500 per night, we expect excellent service, eager staff and perfect conditions. We had none of these. We typically stay at the St. Regis where we feel the emphasis on the aforementioned items is higher on the priority list, but we wanted to try the legendary Plaza. Unfortunately, my wife and I agree that you are living on past reputation and history rather than current excellence.

We loved our stay. The location is A+, physical spaces are beautiful, and the history adds an extra layer of intrigue. The service was friendly and respectful, but not as good as I would expect from a 5-star hotel.

Celebrated wedding anniversary. Concierge was very helpful even prior to our arrival, from arranging airport transportation to procuring afternoon tea reservations. Check in procedure was short and smooth. Champagne and chocolates to the room was a nice touch. Service was overall excellent.
