CHECK-IN: Walking into the hotel it's stunning. Very well taken care of and we were asked if we needed help with our bags. Since it was just carry on we were good to go. The woman who checked me in was very friendly and actually knew we were arriving and got the on duty manager to come and say hello. I had booked this stay via the American Express Platinum Fine Hotels & Resorts program. This gave me the following: - Noon Check-in (based on availability - we didn't need it as we didn't arrive until 3) - 4pm Guaranteed late check out (no hassles using that) - $52.50 USD Credit per person for breakfast ($105/day) - One category upgrade based on availability (We were given the upgrade) - $100 USD Spa Credit (Didn't use) FREQUENT GUEST PROGRAM RECOGNITION: Fairmont has merged with Accor Hotels and is now part of their Le Club Accor program. Fairmont had their own Presidents Club program which was one of my favorite programs of all Hotel programs. They treated their Platinum members VERY well. For months Fairmont and Accor has been telling members Le Club Accor would be amazing. Unfortunately my first experience in the new Le Club Accor Program as a Platinum member was the worst in my history of stays with Fairmont. ZERO benefits. Anything I did get was from Amex FHR program. - No Platinum Welcome Gift - No Platinum Turn Down Service (I would have to call and request it) - No welcome drink - No Fairmont Fit gym clothes HOTEL ROOM: Fantastic! Absolutely stunning! Bed was great. Bathroom was unreal. Great bath products and towels. Tub was HUGE! TV has Google Chromecast so we could cast Netflix to the TV from our phones. iPad to order ICE, request other services, control HVAC, Lights, etc. Our iPad was broken but we called and it was fixed within an hour. IN-ROOM DINING: Easy to order. VERY EXPENSIVE. Very quick and friendly delivery. Food was "ok"... nothing special. But they allowed us to use our $105 USD credit per day for in-room dining which was very nice. Most properties don't allow that. HOTEL RESTAURANT: Ate at the Palms for breakfast as well as their long running afternoon tea. Service by "Luigi" was OUTSTANDING! What a great guy who my 13yo son said was one of the best people he's ever had at a restaurant. I agree! VERY expensive and unfortunately the eggs were under cooked and it just wasn't very special for what they charge. I get it though - it's a 5 star property and they can get away with those charges. I also don't mind paying those prices when the food is above average. In this case it wasn't. OVERALL: This is a beautiful property with generally excellent service. The room was fantastic and the hotel was in a great location. The benefits I received from AMEX were also great. Zero recognition as someone who stays with the hotel chain many nights a year sucked. It the small things like even a letter that show the brand cares about your loyalty.

I was told there would not be hot water from the evening I arrived until the morning at 6am. I stayed at the Plaza to work a conference. I worked until 10:30pm and was expected to begin working at 6am. Not being able to shower was a shocker and super inconvenient especially in an establishment like the Plaza. My toilet bowl did not flush. It dripped and stalled the entire night and collected toilet tissue from the usage. I was very unhappy and very underwhelmed especially with the amount of business my company spends into the Plaza. Definitely not what was expected.

« Fabulous Personnel and Property »

We could not have been more welcomed or cared for during our stay. The property is beautiful and very well and comfortably furnished. But, the charming staff were the true treat of our stay! My granddaughter was treated like a little princess. Thank-you bellman Eddie “Spaghetti” for the attention you showed her, and the entertainment.

We have stayed here before and came back. We felt for the price the service was a little slow to bring up towels and pillows. Also the gentleman who checked us in wasn’t very friendly and didn’t smile. We expected more for the price we paid. Not sure we will come back, may try another hotel.

Ok. Rooms were a little dated - gold was a bit too much in bathroom. Our bath did not work in our suite which was disappointing. I travel a lot worldwide on business and would expect a coffee/Nespresso in my room as standard particularly for a five star hotel. We had lunch in bar area one day but food very average. Also queue for bathroom - looks as if several people were wandering inside to use facilities.

Good food. Great room. Maid knocked on our door 3 times Sunday morning to ask when we were checking out. That was very annoying and bothersome. I paid for valet service. Gave the attendant in the front of hotel my ticket for our car , it took 1 hour ,20 minutes for them to bring us our car. That was a complete waste of money.

This is my 5th stay at the plaza and it is, as always, an absolute joy. The lobby was quite crowded and slightly noisy at times but overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable stay with friendly and accommodating stay.

Customer service wasn’t what I expected...valets and bell hops were slow and not extremely helpful...no One helped us into the car on the way out of the hotel with our luggage...the driver of the house car was always missing in action and it seemed like the valets and doorman were More interested in their conversations with each other than actually assisting .

Was asked to join Accor "frequent stay" on line but button did not click. Was then never given suggestion or materials to do so when at hotel. Overall, stay was wonderful & staff cordial. However, sheer curtains in bathroom made stay a little creepy. When I mentioned it to check in desk one evening, they did offer to change my room, but loved my view of the park so was reluctant as did not know where they would move us.

« Good, but they miss on some basics.. »

We had a relatively warm welcome and a very nice room. Last time we were there, the gym was in the basement; the new gym is a major improvement. I found the restaurant staff were not very attentive, and this was a quiet Wednesday morning. However, the issue that bothered me most was that the hotel charged, after I checked out, $199 USD for no reason. I called and she immediately saw it was a mistake and said she would credit the amount. However, it was charged to my Canadian credit card at $320 CAD credited at about $290 CAD, so I still paid about $30 for a strange mistake.
