This is a gorgeous hotel. Beautiful rooms, great service and luxury everywhere you look. We did have some issues during our stay (air conditioner dripping twice) but these were taken care of fairly quickly. The mattress in our room most likely needs to be replaced (sagging) but it did not bother us enough to request a change of rooms. I did bring the mattress issue to the attention of management at the end of our stay. The air conditioner is strong and it was great to come from walking around in the sun and heat to a nice cool room. Everything can be controlled from the iPad....very easy and convenient. But you can also control the temperature and lights manually. Each room is provided with butler service, who introduces himself to each guest personally. We did not make use of this but it is available if you wish to do so. Great location, in midtown Manhattan, right across from Central Park. Great food court downstairs for breakfast, lunch or dinner (see separate review). And of course, there are restaurants in the hotel. We had drinks at the Palm Court, the Rose Club and a bite to eat at the Champagne Lounge. Pricey, as you would expect, but great atmosphere in all three. A highly recommended experience.

Pratina that greeted us when we first walked in was amazing throughout our entire trip. She is a very pleasant woman and extremely helpful. I booked through American Express and it was not explained to me that Wi-Fi was included. It was written on the piece of paper that I received when I checked in but I would've expected your staff to let us know how to handle the charges. Therefore, we did not use Wi-Fi the entire time we were there. I was disappointed in the fact that I had to request our entire suite to be vacuumed again because I found hair all over the floors and couches upon arrival. We had breakfast and some late-night snacks in our suite and was disappointed when the room service attendant for breakfast could not clean the table off in order to place our breakfast plates on it. They supposedly called housekeeping to do it but they did not show up so I had to clean the table. The butler we had on the Saturday (8/12) night of our visit was amazing. I wish that I had his name but I do not remember it. He did a phenomenal job with us. Overall, we we're pleased and we will be back to the hotel.

We decided to stay a night in the Plaza for our 1 year anniversary. We checked in at 3:35pm. We were told our room was being inspected and were asked to wait at the champagne bar with a complimentary drink. We sat for 10 minutes and watched another couple sit, have a drink and then be led to their room by a concierge or someone from the front desk. We waited a total of 50 minutes at the bar for our room. I went back to the front desk and was told that our room had been ready for some time, but nobody came to get us or gave us luggage tickets. We were comped the extra drinks at the bar for our wait. When we finally got to our room, it reeked of cigarette smoke and there were cigarette butts out on the small terrace. We were offered another room, but we already waited 50 minutes for our first room and had dinner reservations, so we opted not to switch. Justin, the manager, offered an air ionizing cleaner for when we went out to dinner. We accepted. As this was our anniversary, I had pre-ordered sparkling wine and strawberries. They were not there when we got to the room. I had to call down for them. The hot water in the bath was not working. They had to send an engineer up to fix it. As we left for dinner, I asked the concierge to make sure there was another bottle of champagne waiting for us upon our return from dinner. I gave him our room number. Upon our return from dinner, there was no champagne in the room, but the large and loud ionizer was still running in the middle of the living area. i had to call down for the champagne - again, and ask for the ionizer to be removed. At 8:15am, our room began receiving phone calls. This happened two times between 8:15am and 8:30am. We did not ask for a wake up call and were trying to sleep. The front desk said it must have been other guests trying to call family members. Awake, we decided to get ready to check out. Justin, the manager, called the room and asked if everything had been up to my standards. I told him that we did not have the best time. This was supposed to be a special night for us, and the outright lack of oversight and attention to detail took away from our experience. He was sympathetic and as we were checking out told me if we decided to stay at the Plaza again, he would offer a complimentary room upgrade and personally oversee our entire stay. However, I don't think we will ever stay at The Plaza again. For the amount charged for room and services and the integrity of The Plaza name, they should have gotten it right the first time.

Best regards, Allow me to start by saying that our stay from beginning to end was such an amazing experience. I thank you all to the upmost. My wife and I would like to say that it made every dream of our wedding come true. From the doorman to the concierge, bell hop, check-in to your cleaning staff. It was like being with another part of our family. My mother and father , Pasquale & Roseanna D. stayed at the plaza on their wedding night December 13th 1969. I am very proud & honored to follow in their footsteps.

Royal experience in NY. Grate location in the heart of NY on 5th avenue and Central Park , historic luxury hotel. It is the wright address for shopping lovers and luxury life seekers. I liked the lobby, the shopping area in the hotel as well as the room. Friendly helpful staff, very clean hotel, I can't ask for more. The only issue is the wifi was not free for non club members, in the 21th century free wifi should be essential in any hotel service.

Perfect! The Plaza is always our first choice when we visit the city (which we do several times a year). The Palm Court and the Champagne Bar are beautiful ways to begin and end the day.

First time staying in hotel,facilities were unrivalled from the moment you walked into the foyer of the hotel however the level of customer service was unacceptable a couple of examples 1) Asked an attendant for directions to a part of the hotel was told "down the hall" with no guidance given. 2) Upon check out luggage was left in storage facility due to the time of our homeward flight,when we returned to collect our luggage asked reception desk to retrieve our luggage was left standing there for 20 minutes and had to approach the attendant myself who had taken our luggage who thankfully retrieved our luggage.

The service, staff, and butlers were impeccable and very professional. The Edwardian Suite was spacious and very comfortable. It had all we required. However the lobby, Champaign Court, and others need help; with fabric and seating fraying and broken. Better signage to the exercise room is needed; presently they way to the basement through the Palm Court is an impediment. A manager had to show me the way to access it.

« Good, beatiful »

It was good, but at my arrival, i found that part if the hotel is residencial (the rooms looking at Central park) one thing at the time of booking, you did not comunicate or advise ( a litte disappointed ). Also the rooms smelled really bad (cigar smell) NOT good. Specially one of my rooms 630.

We had a nice stay. We originally booked a two bedroom Edwardian and were upgraded to another suite. Although this gave us a a queen and a king and we needed the two kings. My son had to sleep on the sofa bed. Which worked fine but it did not allow someone to be up earlier in that area.

« Waited 30 years to stay here - disappointing to say the least »

Brought my mom to stay here the week after she retired after 50 years. She summed it up best "I've gotten better service at Best Western". I myself have wanted to stay here since I was a little kid, and I spent two weeks pay to do it. One of the bigger letdowns. 2 hours wait to check in (5:15PM), Fold out couch never made up though I asked THREE people, and when it was finally done (after 3 trips by the porter) it was 12:15AM. Managers (Allison & Sara) handled me professionally - comped dinner , breakfast and took 20% off total bill. Nice. Not enough to erase the immense letdown it was. I know a lot of well off people; first, I know how THEY'D react (yelling, screaming); second, I would never recommend The Plaza to them. If a thousandaire is going to be dissatisfied, I can't imagine your thoughts as a millionaire.
