The hotel was overbooked the first night we checked in and we were put in a room that not only was not the harbor view king we booked, but had not been used in quite awhile given the amount of dust on the amenities in the bathroom. Rather than being apologetic or offering any sort of concession, the night check in receptionist just told us to check back later the next day to see if we could switch rooms. We had to check multiple times for our room, was not allowed to check in until the actual check in time even though we had a friend that was checking out that morning with our room type. At any other hotel where this has happened, we're usually offered early check in automatically, with some type of concession. While the room we finally ended up in was great, when it came time to check out, we were charged an elevated rate vs. our original booking rate, which we then had to work with the front desk to change. While the morning receptionist was much kinder than the evening receptionist that checked us in, it was the last thing I wanted to deal with on short trip meant for relaxation where I already lost a night and a day to a poor hotel experience.

« Another nice stay »

This is the second time we have stayed at the Hamilton Princess ... both times with a harborfront room. Out check in and check out were very fast and our room was ready just after 2 when we checked in. The staff throughout the hotel were very nice. We did think the room is in need of a refresh. Also, one night there was quite a bit of noise from a group below us ... We like this location as we prefer to walk each night to various restaurants in Hamilton.

« Hotel was overrun by a mob of floor hockey players in a world tournament played in Bermuda »

I have stayed at your hotel for over thirty years, and have found the experience to be pleasant. It should be, given the Fairmont reputation, and the price I pay for the room. (almost 500$ a night). The last time was not so. Hockey players had their grungy gear strewn all over the lawn - everywhere. They had their shirts hanging outside the front windows to air out. Friday night they were carrying on in the courtyard until 130, screaming, yelling and talking loudly. Sunday night they were celebrating again, until almost 200. There was lots of annoying behavior at the pool, as they all brought drinks from the liquor store down the street. As I was a full paying customer with two rooms, I expected much more. I assume they got a group rate. At the bare minimum, the staff should have figured out a way to keep this behavior down. I contacted the hotel after leaving, and basically got a form letter back. I understand this hotel is 'the only game in town', and given the reinsurance business, you really don't have to do anything, because we will be back no matter what. But I do feel more should have been done while I was a guest.

Very relaxing. The bellman was great, front door guys were a hoot! Very helpful getting taxis, front desk staff even helped my husband loan a vase for some flowers he bought me. Everyone was great! Oh the guys at pool who brought drinks too!

« Bad start to a business trip »

Left my house at 4am to get to airport for early am flight to Bermuda. When I arrived my junior colleague’s rooms where ready but mine was not. I checked back frequently but room was not ready. I am a president club member so i assumed a deluxe room was being prepared. I had to go to meetings in town so I had to dress in a colleague’s room. My room became available around 5 pm. I requested 2 keys and only received 1. Got to the room and was very disappointed that 1) was very late to check-in 2) probably the only room in hotel that was not updated - low floor overlooking adjoining roof with industrial air conditioning unit. I called manager Sean and he promised a new room - but no rooms were available. Went to dinner - gave bags to bellhop. Upon returning in evening received new room. Long exhausting day. No way to treat a President Club repeat client. Disappointed.

« A "nearly there" experience »

A beautiful hotel with great facilities marred by a chaotic & frustrating check-in process and a room next to the housekeeping dept. Having to wait 45 mins until 4pm to check-in was bad enough, however, having my requested 3rd floor room snatched from me and an attempt to fob me off with a high traffic ground floor room meant it was almost 5pm before I saw my room. The wife was saddened by the lack of a bath tub, however, the room was really quite lovely. Regretably, our room was right next to the ice machine and housekeeping store so noise levels were high & constant whilst also tolerable. Puts you on edge when you think there is always someone just outside your door. Food, spa & bar, whilst pricey, were wonderful. Staff did a great job keeping the guests happy and service levels were high. Not the best Accor hotel I have stayed in. Not even sure I could say I would stay there again given the price tag.

The property is well located on the water in Hamilton. The staff is distracted, and the hotel seems to lack an adequate number of employees. My room was nicely located near a lagoon, but it was only moderately clean and definitely old and tired. For example, the plumbing fixtures were old, the flooring outdated, and the patio door old and barely functional.

« Great pool and beach! »

This is a hotel with lovely amenities. The beach club is exceptional. With a free shuttle service to the pristine and secluded beach, with sunscreen, wifi, lovely change rooms, bar and food service. May be the best served beach I have ever been to in a glorious location. The infinity pool at the main hotel is also lovely and well served. On a busy Thursday afternoon in October it was almost impossible to get a lounger though and there was not enough bar service on. The setting and maintenance of the pool was glorious though. The flowers and gardening at the hotel is very well done. I loved the patios and outdoor areas. The room (I was in the Bermudiana wing) was fine, not exceptional. Bed was comfortable, bathroom good. There was a nice balcony in the room, but the chair on my balcony was very dirty, so I ended up sitting in the desk chair pulled up to the open balcony door. As people smoke on the balconies, one sometimes got smoke odours coming in when the door was open. The food at the hotel is good, but very expensive. Front desk service was very good, all information volunteered and someone shows you to your room. The hotel is well located to visit local restaurants and shops.
