« Good experience, but... »

Stayed Lollapoloza weekend - 2 rooms and 1 suit on the gold floor. Gold room and staff was great - very friendly. Rooms were comfortable, but showing their age. Biggest disappointment was the restaurant - limited menu (we saw 2 groups walk out). After the concert wanted to get something to eat / no mention that they would close soon when they seated us. They told us last call when they brought our first drinks. While we were still in there they turned on the lights, stopped the music and started cleaning without warning. Very surprised how closing was managed especially knowing such a big event was going on 2 blocks away!

« Upsetting and disturbing »

As Platinum members I requested an early check-in and a redemption of a suite upgrade certificate. I was notified a few days before our arrival that we were upgraded to a Gold Room. I confirmed this TWICE in the span of three days and was sent email confirmation, TWICE, assuring this; as a result , we changed some of our plans, regarding out stay. Upon arrival, and after servers hours, neither an early check-in, or our TWICE CONFIRMED we’re honored; it was a very disturbing and unpleasant experience. I was seemingly reprimanded for being WRONG!!!! We were charged the entry level room rate and, finally upgraded to a suite..... This experience ruined our first day in Chicago, as, rather than assuming any responsibility, the tables were turned on us——-VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!

Pleasant, helpful hotel staff. Clean, modern, spacious rooms and suites. Simple luxury. Great amenities: spa, fitness center, restaurants. Located walking distance to the best shops, eateries and downtown attractions (Millenium Park, Navy Pier). The temperatures were soaring outside. But, returning to the Fairmont to catch a few z's before our family's wedding was all we needed to feel relaxed and refreshed!

We liked the hotel .Stayed five nights, spread over ten days, so two different rooms, 16th and 17th floors. First room on 17th floor was okay. Room on 16th with double aspect was much better-I would be looking for that if coming again. Cleaning was good. Cleaner on 16th floor particularly friendly. Liked the 15th floor breakfast-staff good. Used v good concierge a few times. Corridors/carpets on 16th and 17th floors are awful! Porters etc all v good.

« Nice hotel in a great location »

Fairmont is always a bit more upscale than the alternatives in the neighborhood. The front desk is always helpful, as was the concierge. Let me check in early (which is key!). When I needed a button sewed on a suit jacket, it was done complimentary. Enjoyed the Tap Room, which I frequented on a number of occasions during the two night stay. Even with Lollapalooza taking over the city, there were no issues in the hotel.

Both staff and facility were great. Short walk on E Lake from the loop. Easy to connect to anywhere in Chicago using CTA.

« Pleasant stay in a busy city. »

An overall good experience. My wife was quite disappointed that this hotel did not have a pool. We also found that the Lolapalooza event was on at the time of our stay, and it did disturb somewhat the quiet space we had requested for. The food at the casual restaurant did not have many healthy offerings. We went there twice. We found the concierge quite helpful in giving us the information we asked for.

I requested an early check in and and wasn’t possible , which I understood. The gentleman at check- in offered me an upgrade for an additional $500 & then I could have room. I declined offer and he told me no later than 3pm and he would text me - my friends and I walked around the city waiting for 2 hours and no text, so we went back and the girl we had at check in was rude and short. It was going on 5pm and we had 3 women in group to be ready for a 6pm dinner! She said “you need to sit down “ and then went on to help others in line. I did write a complaint and was told a room upgrade offer (for $500) & to sit down are normal protocol - I disagree. I stayed at the Conrad 3 weeks ago and room wasn’t ready at 3 and hotel check in apologized & sent us to have drinks and appetizers on the house. I know where I’ll stay next time in city.

« Dissatisfied which I expressed to a manager while I was there. In my opinion, the hotel was not up to its prior standards. Other better opportunities in the city for the money. »

« Large rooms and pleasant stay »

Overall our stay at the hotel was very good. The rooms were large and had plenty of room for a downtown location. The improvements that I would recommend include in the room it would be nice to have a drawer or two, I worked in the room one morning and called when I left in the afternoon for late room service but it never came, the staff in the restaurant was not always friendly for breakfast which was overpriced and the two times we used it we did not get what we ordered.

« Clean and Comfortable »

I stay here every week for business and I am very happy with the rooms. I would recommend that you start to provide enough towels for a persons full stay so house keeping doesn't need to make additional trips. Not everyone likes to have the room serviced, I am one of those people and I would prefer that if I am there for 4 days I should have 4 sets of towels. Also something should be done about the water pressure in the shower. some days it just barely trickles out.
