« love the bathroom and the location »

I bought my room on Priceline, which is probably why I got a low floor. The bench below the bed was a bit worn as was the leather (?) along the side base of the bed. But the room was gorgeous otherwise, especially the spacious bathroom. Very quiet and great location. I love this hotel and will return.

« Quick night in the city »

Check in was a little slower than one would imagine on a Saturday afternoon. Two front desk team members working feverishly though there was a line. Probably took 15 min to check in. Not a big deal really just not typical I would say to your standards. Room on a higher floor 2302 I believe with a great view of the park. Thanks for that! Room temp was a bit warm when we left around 5 PM so we turned it down as my wife enjoys a cool room temp. When we arrived back around 11 PM it was warmer again and we turned it down. The exterior temps were unseasonably warm in Chicago during the day at ~55 deg F and dipped between 40 & 30 deg overnight. Understanding that the HVAC system in most hotels are heat pump systems I know that once the temp dips the AC portion does not function hence the warmer temps but perhaps it was an anomaly but the unit should have been drawing in cooler outside air and tempering at least up to the 60 degrees we had dropped it to. To say the least it was a god awful evening of sweating with warm temps in the room. Outside of room HVAC and check in, the stay was your typical Fairmont experience.

Wanted to watch college football game on major network and Fairmont did not get that channel!! They do not get ABC nor the local FOX channel. Came down for birthday celebration and part of it was to be able to watch from TV in room not a bar.

« Great getaway at the Fairmont, Chicago »

We were coming to Chicago for a special event being held at the Fairmont and decided to stay there for convenience sake even though it was somewhat more expensive than some other downtown options. Check in was quick and we decided to upgrade to "gold card" status. That was nice. We took advantage of breakfast both mornings and were very pleased with the selections offered. We did appetizers one evening and those were good too. There were only 2 negatives to our stay. One was that we could not regulate the temperature of our room. We wanted it cooler and the only way to do that was to open the windows the little amount they opened. The other was that the sheets were not very soft which surprised me for such a high end hotel. The view from our room was nice and everything else was great.

I was in town for a short trip with my wife for our one year anniversary. We have stayed at many Fairmonts through Canada and the US, I have been FPC Platinum in the past. We had booked a black Friday rate that included a $50 food and drink credit. The check in was rushed by the front deck staff. We arrived at our room door, covered in black scuff marks from years of wear and tear, that was a fair representation of what we would find inside. The furniture just felt used and worn down, if you look at the leather bedframe and ottoman you will see the leather is scaling and peeling off. We may have booked a good rate but this is well below my Fairmont expectations for quality. We ordered room service the next morning, the food was great and service was quick. Upon checkout I went to the front desk and wanted to ensure that our food credit was applied to our room service. The staff member was unable to do it on the spot but assured me that he would handle it and email me the updated invoice. Two days later I had not received the invoice, I contacted the finance department to get a copy of the bill and the credit was never applied. I replied right away explaining the situation and never heard back. So today (Friday) I had to call again, I spoke to someone that was helpful and believe it will be resolved today. Overall just not a great experience and I know the Fairmont is better.

The Gold Lounge is very well done. It could be on a higher floor to get better views. The service and food presentation is above average.

« Amazing Customer Service Experience »

I called customer service to book my hotel room - I was pleasantly greeted by the associate and had a lovely conversation while trying to deal with some errors and issues regarding the room and the price. The associate noted all of our plans while staying at the Freemont and when we arrived at check-in the customer service representative was already aware of where we were going and offered assistance with all of our plans. Always a plus when they interact with the children as well. Very amazing experience in regards to customer service. The rooms (even though they gave us an upgrade which was a huge plus and the views were amazing) were a little dated with the bed bases and stools peeling and cracking (but the room was clean and perfectly done so that was a very minor issue)

« Our room was extremly hot. »

The experience was not great because the room was extremely hot. I asked for something to be done and I was told to open our windows. It's impossible to sleep in Chicago with a window open. I know you can't control the weather but there had to be another solution because multiple people had the same complaint.

Room was clean but the leather fabric on the bed was peeling and flaking off onto the floor. I had to contact front desk to get a tv remote and to replace the broken ironing board in the room. The front desk staff and the gentleman who came to my room to bring the remote and ironing board were both wonderful. I would stay again as a result of the service.

« Great location, beautiful views, nice amenities. »

The hotel was quiet, clean and had amazing views. The only issue was the temp in the room. It was freezing - and turning the heat up made little difference. The bedding was not sufficient and the first night I slept with a scarf wrapped around my neck! The second night I asked for a blanket, and they brought me a very crispy, thin "blanket". Because it was so stiff, it was far from comforting, plus because it was so thin, I had to double it up to make me any warmer. Winter in Chicago is COLD - please provide more heat in the rooms and softer, warmer bedding! I was there for a conference, and the ladies room adjacent to our meeting room was also extremely cold, as was the water in the sink.

« Ok but beware some rooms are worse than others »

Stay was ok - had to move rooms initially as original room had issues with curtains and no wardrobe space due to huge safe stuck in the middle of the hanging rail space! Upgraded but felt that the new room was not worth the extra money
