« Magnificent Stately Hotel with Excellent, Helpful staff »

This is a marvelous hotel, beautifully updated facility, retaining its old elegance, clearly the reason for its choice for the G7 Economic Summit this year. The facilities are excellent, the grounds immense, and the view of the St Lawrence River, from on high, captivating. The room was very large, but I can't remember if the bathroom was also. The bed was excellent and desirably soft, possibly feather, pillows provided. Parking was quite distant, however. Paid and valet parking were available, but I'm not sure how much closer was the paid parking. Our connected, annex building had only one elevator, not sufficient for the large number of rooms. The indoor pool was huge and outdoor pools and pool area were pleasant, but overwhelmed with families. As was the dinner buffet restaurant. So, using the outdoor pool was not so pleasant, At the high room rate of $360 Canadian and added $20 resort fee, I can't imagining how so many young families could afford to come.

It was lovely. I do have two suggestions. Please put instructions for the whirl tub in the room, it is complicated and if it is not allowed to finish the cycle it becomes inoperative. (the technician explain it to me as the previous occupant must have shut it off). Improved information on the amenities like the pool and spa might help.

« Great family get away. Beautiful Charlevoix and gorgeous hotel. »

Hotel looks wonderful outside and in. The gardens and entrance were befitting of a hotel that just hos.ted the G7 Summit. Room was well appointed and good size for a one bedroom suite. Had dinner in the fine dining room to celebrate my wife's birthday. The service was fantastic and food superb. Our waiter was attentive and engaged in making the evening wonderful. The pools are nice and the pool area is quite well set up. The walking areas, the badminton and tennis areas were all well-kept. Only discovered the games room late in our stay. The lobby bar entertainment was wonderful. Bit of a drag that they don't allow kids in (at least for the early part). Instead many families just stand at the railing. A dumb provincial regulation so not the hotel's fault. The views of the St. Lawrence River are superb. The casino seemed to be a big draw - but it wasn't over the top and no evidence of late night noise etc. (I did laugh at the line ups for opening in the morning!). Beds were comfortable. Housekeeping was mostly outstanding. Lots to do in the nearby village and some good places to eat in town which is nice when you are staying for a few days as we did. Concierge was gracious and helpful - booked a whale watching tour and had great tips. Some things to improve on: Our welcome at the hotel (outside) was not exactly warm. Not the end of the world, but certainly had the impression that some (not all) of the front door staff were overwhelmed at times and not super experienced. The younger guys were probably better. Upon our departure i found it tough to get bikes out of the storage room and the staffmember was borderline rude. The food and bar service at the pool area was generally great. But, the hours were a puzzle. It closed once quite early and many guest besides us were searching for cold drinks. One day it was closed altogether (it had rained earlier, but was hot and sunny by 2 or 3PM). A Fairmont should have this stuff figured out (not a great guest experience when the nearest service was a long way away...and it was hot..and it created lots of negative conversations amongst guests). Maid service was excellent most days. However, one day it was just so so. No bottled water (nice to take when heading out for a walk) and not as tidy as every other day. Lastly, really need to sort out bike storage for guests who bring their own bikes. Phillipe was awesome and helpful. Most of the others were not pleasant. Hope the small suggestions are helpful! And, thanks for a great vacation.

Hotel and grounds are fantastic. Staff are helpful and available. Dinner at Table & Terroir was excellent. Pools (4 of them) offered all manner of swimming opportunities. Bicycles at sport centre allowed us to explore La Malbaie. Close up view of kitchen smokejack from our assigned room was unacceptable, and we had to pay a supplement to change to a room with a less industrial view.

We experienced high quality service. From checking in the impeccable rooms to being greeted and attended to at the various restaurants. « Very good »

Overall we enjoyed our stay. The room that we had was a little worn and was far from the main lobby. The carpet was stained in several places both in the room and in the hallway. I’m used to Fairmont hotels being impeccable. We were two in the room but only given bathroom supplies for one. We had to find the maid to ask for more towels and soap after the room had been cleaned. The service at the bar was extremely slow both evenings that we went there.

great stay, beautiful surroundings, well maintained, clean and classy. Restaurant service was terrible (slow, mistakes, etc.) Pool was too small for the number of people so not a place to relax We did many of the activities but still not sure what the value of the resort fee is.

Great location, beautiful hotel has a great foundation but needs some work on the interior and exterior. First hotel and first Fairmont to charge a $1.00 per champagne glass to be delivered to room. I've never seen that at a hotel and its ridiculous especially for a chain like the Fairmont.

Check in was painful, it took nearly an hour to check in, other than that hotel was great. Finding parking is an issue because of the casino next door, should have reserved hotel parking.

« Far from my expectations for this hotel category »

The service was perfect at check-in and in general, however the furniture in the lobby and in the room is really old and to be renovated. the garden was in a very bad shape and it was difficult to believe the G7 summit took place in such poorly maintained facility. On top, there was a fire a fire alarm in the middle of the night and we could only get back to our room at 04:30 in the morning. This was for me another evidence of the level of maintenance of this hotel which needs to be entirely renovated.

« Wonderful stay! »

We stayed 5 nights at Le Manoir Richelieu in late July. Everything from the dinners at T+T on the terrace at sunset... to the gardens and pool area was just about perfect. We also loved taking a golf cart and having breakfast up the mountain at the club house. But what really stood out was the great friendly staff who made us feel welcome and at home. We will be back!

« Disappointing »

We stayed here for three nights at the end of a two week road trip for a treat. We were willing to spend the $600/night since the resort advertised as having lots of activities we could enjoy as a family and we would have a nice view from our room. Here are a few things that were disappointing: 1. Activities. Our sons are big basketball players but both hoops were broken. We then decided to play another family game - bocci. There wasn’t a full set of bocci balls so that was out (there also wasn’t even a good bocci area even if there was the equipment to play). We then moved into croquet - we struck out there again since there wasn’t a flat well groomed grassy area to play. We finally moved to badminton. They did have rackets and birdies and we enjoyed playing - but got frustrated by the overhanging branches where the birdies got stuck. Other resorts of similar price who advertise these activities (Skytop, Greenbrier, Mohonk) manage to keep equipment and grounds maintained. We were puzzled this hotel couldn’t manage. 2. The presence of the crowds at the casino detracted from the feeling of being at a special resort. We were never able to get a spot in either lot 4 or 7 and climbed up to lot six in the rain. In retrospect we should have used valet but since were going in/out multiple times it didn’t seem worth the hassle or price when free parking was advertised. 3. We paid for deluxe room with a view but the couch blocked access to the window so it wasn’t worth the extra $100+ dollars.

The views were beautiful and our room was comfortable. Breakfast was a bit chaotic and service was slow. Dinner at the St Laurent was disappointing as the food was over cooked and surroundings in yhe restaurant need refreshing.
