Upon check-in we were told we were upgraded to the river-view room which we were pleased to hear. However when we got to the room it was two double beds instead of the queen bed which we had originally booked. It was not mentioned on check in that the beds changed. The room is dated but still clean and comfortable. Parking was challenging on this Saturday night but it was free.

« Wonderful Resort in Charlevoix Region »

Overall a very pleasant stay - extremely relaxing and the staff was polite and helpful (especially concierge who helped us find farm/store which sold products made from donkeys milk -- yes, that is all we knew and she found it!); breakfast buffet great assortment -- dinner menu could have some lighter fare for quick bites (when we asked we were told to go to the bar for lite food). Access to casino underground was a plus too as we didn't have to get wet getting there. Only negatives was on check-in as we were given a room across elevator on first floor and at times it was noisy; and free parking was limited near hotel. There was spaces up a rather steep hill and if you're not in shape it would be a struggle. Should have a golf cart to transport drivers to far lot to get car.

« Short of expectations »

Unplesant surprises; very small dog had to have a ''baby seater'' when we were going for dinner ... and with a minimum of 3 hours (No such request was indicated on the website nor at time of reservation) Service was slow at restaurant for breakfast, room service was also lacking (Toasts for breakfast without plates). We would not recommend this hotel, although I had great experience with the Fairmont Hotels in the past.

I was attending the CWSGA NATIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT . check in went very well. Hallway where 145 women had cocktails very noisy. Breakfast area very small, given the amount of people who use,it. Golf carts were clean and always ready when we went out.

« Your staff tried to give me a room I did not want . »

After making a reservation in the seigneurie suite ( presidential ) the person at reservations made a mistake with the price. Someone called me back a few minutes later and told me everything would be fine at the price she gave me. Once arrived, you gave me a very small suite telling me that this was the suite that was described to me but that was a lie . I went back to the reception and I was told that the presidential suite was not necessary because all it had more that the one I had was an extra room and a bidet. Actually no, that was also a lie. The presidential suite which is the room I wanted when I first reserved had a big bathroom with a jacuzzi , double the space and a nice view on the river. After a while of complaining, I was finally given the room I wanted but was told that extra fees would be applied to the bill. That is totally ridiculous , since I was told I would get the room ( presidential suite ) at the price I was told the first time. All in all, I was repeatedly lied to and that is a shame since I do come to your establishment a few times a year. I do hope I can get a compensation for this . If I do not get a return to this review, I will call and formulate an official complaint.

Our hotel is very beautiful and all the staff very friendly. This is the 2nd visit for us to your hotel. Our only issue is that we called your hotel to book while we were traveling. We were advised that you were a pet friendly hotel with a cost of $25 for our small minature Schnauzer who is 10 years old and used to staying in a hotel room. When we arrived we were advised that we could not leave our dog in the room alone. Result was that we felt very much room bound and ordered our dinner in our room - which was very good. I would suggest that you ensure that guests are informed of your less than pet friendly policy as we would have made other hotel arrangements if we were properly advised. We do expect to visit your Fairmount hotels in the future - always have a great experience - just disappointed this visit as we paid alot of money and was not able to take advantage of your entire hotel experience. Excellent and we may return. But major issue was the lack of explanation about parking and parking lots when entering the property. The option should be provided by signs, almost totally lacking. Bar prices were far too high.

« The hotel experience makes up for the small room »

- enjoyed hotel amenities of the heated pool, hotel tour, horse-drawn carriage, golf cart ride - loved dinner at Charlevoix and breakfast to the golf club - amazing view -Remy who works at the sports center provided us the tour and he was great - the bed in the room was comfortable but the whole space was cramped, not much room to put away clothes for 2 adults, little counter space for toiletries, no fridge in the room that can be used (unless maybe you pay extra but there wouldn't have been space to put it anyway) -turndown service was not on par with the luxurious experience that the hotel wants to portray -no bathrobe in the room, we had to ask, slippers would have been nice to0 considering it is a 5* hotel

Overall, it was good. The one slightly frustrating thing was that when I didn't have my room key with me and went to the spa (my family was already at the pool and had taken the 2 keys with them) and knocked on the door, none of the spa personnel at the desk even acknowledged my presence at the door. Yes, there was a clear note on the door which says that rooms keys are required, but surely, to be courteous and open the door is a basic courtesy. They could have then told me about the key and I could have told them about my family being at the pool and they could have confirmed it in the log. In fact, when I went to the front desk and got a key, and came back, as I was signing in the log, I was told that my youngest daughter had signed in for the family, and that she did a good job. The little things matter.

gorgeous scenery, beautiful property, clean facilities, great service, we would like to recognize Kavy who checked us in and checked us out; he is an excellent representative of your hotel especially since it was our very first visit; we also would like to thank the gentleman who took us for a nice horse & carriage ride and gave us a history lesson about Manoir Richelieu and the very charming village of Charevoix .. we were so impressed with our stay that we have told friends and family & showed them the pictures; we will definitely be back thank you, Donald D. & family
