« Where have all the staffers gone? »

The property itself, physically, is unique and special. Unfortunately, it is also grossly understaffed. I was there on the Canadian Thanksgiving Long Weekend and despite being at full occupancy, there was a maximum of 2 staff at the front desk, handling check-ins, check-outs and playing concierge. (Both days I was there, there was no concierge on duty and the front desk staff was supposed to play that role too). The lineups were often lengthy and turned what should have been a relaxing experience into an exercise in frustration. As an Accor Platinum member I spend a lot of nights in Accor hotels and I feel this property has really let the team down. Fairmount is obviously more interested in trimming their staff costs than in providing a warm welcome and hassle-free experience.

We have always been pleased with thr fairmount hotel chain, and it was our first time in La Malbaie. There are many things we love about the fairmonts. We love that whenever we go they lend us clean exercise apparel every day so we dont have to carry that in our luggage. We were told when we arrived that since it was now accordhotel we lost our status from the president’s club and now had zero points, so they couldnt lend us exercise apparel until we had reached gold status. We also love the playrooms they always have in fairmount hotels. One night we went to play a game of pool and we realised you had to pay 1$ for each game. It was really ridiculous. None of the fairmonts make you pay for this and honestly in such a nice hotel you expect that to be complimentary. Furthermore, we were always greated in other fairmonts by people who knew their hotel well and guided us towards the ameneties and what to do for the weekend. We received no guidance when we arrived, and when we inquired the person at the front wasnt even sure which restaurant was open when, and essentially told us we have a couple of restaurants and a pool. So we went and looked around ourselves. The two meals qe had at the t&t restaurant were very dissapointing (dinner and breakfast). Needless to say that we are going to the Germain next time we are in Charlevoix. This was really not a good experience. The quality of this hotel does NOT reflect the quality of any other fairmount that we had been to.

My room was fabulous, and the staff very accommodating. I did however find the restaurant lacking as well as some amenities. For example, at the breakfast buffet, the bowl I picked was dirty (very dirty). Also, the water in the outdoor hot tub was quite murky, and required more chemicals. Also, the floor by the indoor pool was not very clean.

Room was as expected having stayed at Le Manoir many times. One remark; had to wait a long time at check out, because a client had a problem. Another person at the reception should have come in to take care of the other people waiting in line.

Beautiful hotel with amazing views. Was quite disappointing to not be able to try the different restaurants onsite as they were full. Restaurant waiters were very friendly. Room had good quality teas and coffee. Bathroom a little small. Air conditioning did not really work.

« MY husband and I love going to Manoir Richelieu yet room was not the best we've had over the many years ! »

I had made a reservation for a Fairmont room at $250./night + taxes and other fees (parking and special $20. fee). Upon arrival, I was offered to upgrade; the young man showed me a corner room which looked larger and had 2 windows. For an extra $20./night, I accepted. I should not have. Firstly, upon arrival, the corridor leading to our room (403) was freezing, our room was extremely cold and it took forever to warm and the room was not any "larger" as a column was standing at an odd place and my husband and I could not sit side by side to enjoy a drink or read or talk. I have to add that my husband's health is frail (lung cancer) and he got extremely cold overnight; after 2 nights at the hotel, we came back home and my husband had developed a pneumonia and we had to see the lung specialist by Tuesday morning. We love going to your hotel and plan to return in October (depending on my husband's Immunitherapy treatments) but may I ask that someone writes a note in our "file" mentioning that the heat should be set at "warmer". I went downstairs (around 7:30 first evening) asking for the heat to be fixed and wrote a note to the chambermaid asking for extra towels and not to touch the heater. I thank you for reading and taking note of my comments.

Service was very good & food was delicious. The hotel is being well maintained. We changed our room from a garden view where the view was very poor to a view of the river. I think having to pay a premium for a river view is « over the top ».

« Limited food options with only one restaurant open and poor/slow service at it. »

We enjoyed the room, exploring the magnificent building, the grounds, pool and casino. The restaurant food itself was just ok - not 4-5 diamonds. Service in the only open restaurant was slow and many empty tables were not cleared of their dirty dishes. A fellow patron had to chase down another server as her server and ours was nowhere to be found to send her food back to be cooked more completely. The poor service also left us to refill our own wine glasses. Not the level of service I expected.

« Beautiful setting, disappointing room and service »

The setting of this hotel is lovely and the grounds are kept impeccably. Our room, however, was small, hot (air conditioning system did not function properly and window opening was too small to make a difference in the room) and walls are very thin (could hear snoring in the next room). The food in the restaurant was mediocre at best and therefore seemed very over-priced relative to its quality. The staff in the restaurant (and bar) were surly and seemingly more interested in talking amongst themselves than to the guests.
