I love the house dog. Thank you VERY MUCH for getting a NYTimes under my door, even when you have gone 'paper free'. I have the app, but getting the paper is a treat. (I am happy to buy one in the gift shop too). Always wonderful, easy to stay in.

« Great, but for the workout facilities, and some service issues at breakfast »

I've stayed at the Claremont frequently the past few years. I always come back when in Berkeley because of the fantastic experiences I've had there. Last stay was, somewhat underwhelming, probably based on my previous expectations. Workout facilities were under construction - not a big deal. Bigger disappointment was the service we received at Limewood for a Monday morning breakfast. Lots of waiting (it was 9:00, so the restaurant was not full.) Two guests served, and the other waited for her food, and waited, and waited. Nothing was said. No explanations. When her meal finally showed up, there were no apologies, etc. Server just set the plate down and left. I expect more from the Claremont.

« Amazing Stay for our wedding weekend! »

When planning for my wedding in the East Bay, I knew that I wanted to stay at the best hotel to celebrate the weekend festivities, so I booked the Claremont Berkeley (Fairmont) hotel. Our stay lived up to all my hopes and exceeded expectations. I booked a King Suite for my night before and was able to upgrade to a Signature King Suite with extra room and breathtaking views of the Bay. The room was prefect for me and the bridal party to get ready for the big day. Our honeymoon suite was the Tower Suite so the hotel was able to rush the room to get it ready for us to switch over at check out of the King Suite and helped with a smooth and effortless transition. My bridal party was able to continue getting ready in the Tower Suite while the photographer and videographer could take beautiful footage of the scenery from the tower. We ordered a few rounds of in-room dining (breakfast, coffee and lunch) and all meal items were delivered timely and were delicious! Service was attentive and excellent. On check in I had received a number to text for any housekeeping or service requests. I used this feature frequently during the weekend as there was so much going on with getting ready for the wedding, etc. The reception/ housekeeping/ concierge were extremely helpful and prompt with their service. This enabled a smooth and worry free weekend. For our wedding night we were greeted with champagne and dipped strawberries in the Tower Suite. It was a wonderful room for our next two nights of the weekend. On Sunday we had a hosted brunch for our close family and friends at The Claremont which was well executed and thoroughly enjoyed by all guests. After brunch, a few guest were able to enjoy the views in the Tower Suite with us. We’re delighted that we chose The Claremont Berkeley (Fairmont) hotel to celebrate our wedding weekend and were treated like royalty for our stay.

It was great, as always! One option for frequent guests would be to give them a bit more choice for the rooms. For example, I really like the rooms with bath tubs but if feasible I would like to combine it with a nice view. :-)

I love the hotel...service is great...everyone is so kind and helpful. The room was disappointing for a few design reasons. I am a designer... so I am a little sensitive:) dimmers are 100% necessary. Lighting in bathroom was HARSH too bright. A few other things but the lighting is ruining your beautiful design. Get dimmers or get incandescent like lighting...had some trouble getting a better room as well. No matter, I love it there and will return.

I've stayed in the past and enjoyed it, but this time I was awaken all night long with comings and goings in the hall- I think I was next door to the supply room or something. There was also lots of noise coming from below, outdoors. No clock in the room, I couldn't find a safe or a scale either. I think it was high occupancy; I asked for a room change but they couldn't accommodate...

« Overnight getaway after fundraiser »

My husband and I were two of 4 chairs for our school's annual fundraising auction at the Claremont. The facilities were beautiful and the event amazing! This is the second year that we've booked a room at the Claremont for the night of the event. It is lovely to just head upstairs and relax after rather than try to make it home. I must say that the first room that we were placed in was less than impressive. It was dark, overlooked the loading docks and there was a loud, barking dog just across the hall and a few doors down. After requesting a move, we ended up in a beautiful room on the 7th floor. We appreciated the prompt attention to the situation and the accommodation. Our girls loved swimming at the pool all day!

« Not like the "old days" »

we enjoyed the new rooms, restaurant and as always the pool. I was surprised that Fairmont initiated a $45 charge to use the steamroom and jacuzzi facilities.(although the jacuzzi did not work) I felt we were getting nickeled and dimed for everything. I also noticed a discomfort by the longtime employees when they had to explain the new addtional charges.
