« Could be better..... »

My husband is disabled and needed a walk in shower, which I requested a few times. One with Matthew, who assured me (no problem). All my family and guests were put on the 4th floor and my husband and I got the 5th floor with tub and shower in tub. Then we were moved to another room; still no good. I also requested two beds and did not get it but the walk in shower was necessary. Then Eric moved us to the first floor; room was very nice but too far to walk to elevator for me and husband in wheelchair. Finally, my son and daughter took charge and we finally got a small room with one bed but finally a walk in shower and very small bathroom but at least I was on the same floor as my family so they could help with my husband. All this was requested way before we were to arrive. Also, the prices in the restaurant were exorbitant and as a wedding gift to my family, I paid for the B. rooms, which you could see was quite hefty, with your exorbitant Resort fee, none of which I used, and all the other taxes. For the price I paid, the least the hotel could have done was get the reservations straight, as requested. But yes, Eric did give us a discount of $100, which we appreciated.

« Very disappointing »

It’s a beautiful hotel and staff were extremely pleasant. Unfortunately our bathroom was not cleaned properly. The front desk person offered a free breakfast which was nice, housekeeping called to apologize. And it was cleaner - we went from dozens of hairs on the floor to only a few. Seriously, I would expect better given we spent $1200.00 for two nights. Second problem was st dinner in your restaurant. Service was slow, our appetizer plates were not cleared, our entree was served to half of us with a five minute delay before the rest got theirs, the $40 steak was cold and over cooked, the fish were very small portions, the entree salad that was supposed to have dressing on the side was saturated with dressing and likely got dressed earlier since the lettuce was soggy. Again, for the prices you are charging, you need to step up your game.

« Wonderful, but the room was not ready on time. »

My daughter and I were staying in a room near my older daughter who was getting married that weekend. The family was very busy and we were a little disappointed that our room was not ready at 4 PM as promised. Everyone working at the Hotel were so wonderful and the rooms were gorgeous! The only other problem was the parking. It was so hard for our visitors to come and go, brides maids and grooms men. The Exit Gate was super frustrating. Visitors need an easier way to pay and exit the lot.

« Nice room, awesome inreat bed, awesome pools, long trek to the gym and pools »

The Claremont offers the onsite best dining experience as well as spectacular views. The pools are nice but could offer free sunscreen for the $500 a night price we paid . The ability to get a 3 pm check out on Sunday for an extra $100 was well worth it!

« terrible »

could not get cold water out of the bathroom sink tap, only very hot. Ran shower hot water for 40 minutes to get hot water. For the amount of money total over a thousand dollars for meals and one night for two rooms, it was pathetic. Additionally of course there were the inconveniences of the construction--guests should never have to pay such prices for this. I let the concierge know when we left and she gave me a bottle of water to take my medication since I could not get cold water in our room. She said someone would call me that day--they never did. I am 76 years old and my family in Berkeley before me and myself have been coming for decades--this was the worst! christine i.

« Not restful or relaxing »

On a couples weekend Saturday morning construction starts at 8 am sharp. Backup alarms, hammers, trucks idling and other construction noise all morning. Then on Sunday morning since that was our check out day, housekeeping stopped by at 8 am to knock the door and then apologize that we were still in bed.

Great Miss your Sunday brunch though

« Beautiful »

Great stay. It’s just a little too expensive for my family on a regular basis. The construction was a bit of a bummer.

The lap pool is amazing. the grounds, the accomodations, and spa services all together make this my go to place anytime I am close to Northern California. I love the Claremont!

« Still a pleasure to be here, despite downgrades »

This hotel is still a gem of the region, but a few things struck me as losses. First would be the dining room (Meritage), which WAS comfortable and special before it was closed to guests and turned into events-only space. Forcing all guests into the former coffee-shop-then-bar (the smallish Limewood) for meals diminishes the great-hotel vibe. And I particularly lament the loss of the early-coffee bar, a mark of excellence and exclusivity for any hotel. Now getting an early cup and a croissant is pretty much like going to Starbucks, complete with lines and ponderous service. Made me feel less like a guest and more like a commuter on my way to the train. Second would be room amenities. Only one blanket on the bed (a huge, and too hot, comforter), no water, no slippers. No illuminated bedside clocks. Furniture moving and acrobatics required to plug in a cell phone at bedside. (It doesn't matter how *wired* the desk is, if you want to use your phone during the night, it can't be halfway across the room.) The rooms are beautiful and clean, the beds are luxurious, and the bathrooms are great, but the above few small details have been forgotten or become the victims of an economy purge. I felt diminished having to stop by the front desk to ask for a bottle of water. (Although the clerk promptly and cheerfully produced one from a hidden drawer at his station and offered me more.) Third would be some of the service in the lobby. Asking for printed directions to the airport and to the closest Catholic church seemed to produce a bit of panic and some struggles with the printer in the first case (concierge), and in the second case, some totally inadequate ad libbing with nothing printed and no suggestions for help elsewhere (from the young ladies at the check in desk). Not sure why those kinds of requests can't be anticipated and prepared for. They used to be. The evening pianist in the really lovely lounge across from check-in was a nice touch, even though there was no one to hear him. It's still a good idea for when business picks up. (NB: someone might suggest he could bring the volume down when the room is silent and empty.) Kudos to the landscape crew and the parking attendants who still know their stuff.

« great room, good service, wish I had better restaurant priority »

It was fine. We had to change rooms as our room was super dark, but happy with new room. Spa was fantastic. Will be excited to see the updated club. Was disappointed in restaurant - dinner first night was nice but service took way too long for dinner, was comped a drink though so handled well. Ate brunch next day and that was great. However, lunch on Sat was disappointing, very loud patrons, not a good table and wish we could have enjoyed patio. Very friendly service around hotel.

« Night away »

We had a very nice night away. Our room had a great view and the breakfast was excellent. We also really enjoyed the pool, although the pool could use a real bar. Canned cocktails are not very good.

« Lovely hotel. »

You were kind enough to give my daughter a place to arrange and keep floral arrangements for a wedding. I found everyone to be kind and professional. I really appreciated the valet people. They went out of their way, as well, to accommodate us. You know, I would stay with you again, because of the entire package.

There was confusion at check in. There was also misinformation when booking. Once the manager got involved those problems were dealt with. We found the restaurant options and availability of snack options limited. The staff was extremely pleasant, professional, and were helpful

« Mini Vacation on a Business Trip »

I enjoyed the pool area on a sunny day, though the feel was more day camp than luxury resort. The massage with Nancy was outstanding. The public rooms with views of the Bay are lovely. Gracious staff.

« Excellent in every imaginable way »

Staff members were extremely attentive and the hotel was sparkling clean and up to date. Check in was a breeze. The room was extremely comfortable and met our every need. Loved the happy hour drink and appetizer specials when we checked in. The outdoor seating was a huge plus! The lobby had a luxurious open feeling. The pool and hot tub were wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about our experience. It was the first time we stayed here and it won’t be the the last!
