« Perfect Staycation »

From the Friday night cocktails sipped on the terrace as the sun set across the Bay, to waking Saturday morning surrounded in luxurious bedding, to the fabulous buffet & bottomless mimosas Sunday morning, we enjoyed every minute of our stay. While the bay area was at our feet, and in our view, there was no need to leave the hotel. In spite of having lived nearby for a combined 101 years*, neither of us had ever stayed here. It was a perfect place to celebrate 25 years of life together. We'll be back! (*& having long heard about how my great grandfather had installed the original telephone network in the hotel:)

« Underwhelming »

I was very disappointed by the pool and "spa" situation as well as my dining experience. Our bathroom counter was also filthy. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, however we went for an early dinner and were very surprised at the lack of options and lack of accommodation for dietary restrictions. We also waited a very very long time to receive our food.

« Rude staff pestered at every turn »

I came to the Claremont for because I was evacuating the fires, and hoping to enjoy the beautiful grounds and maybe relax if possible. I had numerous rude and disrespectful encounters with disgruntled staff. I understand we are all human but when I come to a place like Claremont I expect the professionalism and self control to leave your bad moods at home and try to create the best possible environment for the guest. After this last visit I doubt I'll be staying at this specific Fairmont hotel. Others I still hold in high regard. But the staff were so rude and disrespectful it ruined mood and consequentially my Day on both days of my stay. While I did have positive interaction s with staff the disturbingly negative ones shined through .

This is the second time I've stayed at the Fairmont. It's nice and beautiful, but I really dislike the old air conditioning system - it's loud and inefficient in the summer (struggles to keep up). We had ants in our room on the second stay. I didn't like the texting experience - an unsolicited text came to me asking them to let them know if I needed any assistance, when I had a question, I got one reply, but then when I specifically asked for more clarification, I got NO reply - nothing. I was shocked when I learned that this hotel was rated between a 4 and 5 star. I would give it a 3. On our most recent stay, I called down to ask about the loud air conditioner - I was asked by the front desk staff member to hold to get the manager. Well, I waited several minutes and no manager came to the line, so I hung up. A few minutes later, I got a call from the same front desk staff, who rudely complained that I had hung up. Our stay should've been better.

The pools were unforgetable with just the right tempuratures. The teas offered in the club were the best ive ever had. The room was perfect down to each feather pillow. I was sadly not impressed the resaurant offered at off hours from the Merritage. it seemed to be an all inclusive snack shack attending loosly to the guests who were not out and about. The small offerings were tasty but the service lacking. The staff at the Merritage was spot on and the cuisine fabulous. How pleasing to be attended with Forbes Five Star Standards. My name was recorded backwards during the reservation process so, there as a bit of an issue at check in. However, The Front Dest Manager quite quickly remedied the situation as if it had not happened.... that man is not paid enough. =)

« Room is great...staff is great...Dining options are not so great »

Hotel needs to address room-service options. Hotel is "pet-friendly" but there are no options to eat in the hotel. Most hotels (even Kimptons) allow guests to order from the high-end dining options in-room... at this Fairmont the room service is boring & tasteless...and in-room dining is not an option. Only service dogs are allowed on the patio, so guests are forced to go off property to dine. Fine dining option has been closed most nights... the reviews of the casual dining are not great. Fairmont needs to hire a real chef & focus on the guest.

« Great venue but annoying sound out of the room’s window »

Hotel is really good looking and curated in most aspects. Room was comfortable with a great size shower. However what was annoying was a ventilator-kind if sound just outside the window, which where poorly isolated. First night sound it was ok, but second night, which was more complicated due to jet lag, the bumming sound prevented me from getting a good sleep. Great service in the restaurant for breakfast.

« experience like a 2 star hotel and prices like a 5 star »

There was nothing I liked about my experience. I swithced rooms 4 times bc none of them were even livable. For $500/night, I want a room where I can open a window and see a pleasant scene outside. Not one of the 4 rooms had this. First room had a skylight. And by the 4th room, I was exhausted and was over the parking lot listening to people and the workmen all day. Plus, the tennis court lights streamed into my room all night. Every time I passed the housekeeper in the hallway, her cart was in the middle of the hallway and she never said hi. In fact, she just looked angry and stared at me. Even the coffee person at 6:30AM was passive aggressive. It was a nightmare.

The room we were assigned was not cleaned including a fithy toilet with feces and urine in the bowl. The television had fingerprints and there was a used Q Tip on the bathroom floor.

« Not worth the price »

The stay overall was okay. The bed was nice and bathroom was big. Found a used pack of cigarette in the room when we came in. Had issues with our reservation, even though we called weeks in advance to explain that we had created two different reservations on two different names but we were a couple. Had to deal with this issue on 3 different occasions including Saturday night after getting married and finding that our key didn't work.

Hey great *** Please bring BACK organic chicken vegetable in merritage ** I noticed a bad smell coning out of the floor drain in the bathroom near the back side of the limewood..I think all these drains have a pea trap that can gather smells should put in de-greaser sit overnight ---then add hot water and clorox do ever week pls call skip my water expert 92… dr b.

The hotel and location were perfect for our visit. Unfortunately the housekeeper forgot to replenish certain bathroom items daily - mainly the shower gel. This was rectified when I telephoned. Likewise the reservation was for 3 adults but only one bathrobe was supplied and I had to telephone down for another 2. Again , not enough glasses and coffee capsules were supplied for 3 adults. This was rectified after I contacted reception. The biggest two failings were as follows We had the bed and breakfast package and on the first morning when entering the restaurant we asked the delightful waiter if we could order anything off the menu. He advised Yes. When checking out on our day of departure there were additional charges relating to our daily breakfast. I queried this and was told we had exceeded our daily limit. Why were we not informed there was a daily limit? The night before our departure I booked a wake up call for 04:15. We never received this wake up call. Please would you email me every receipt for each day we had breakfast. Please email to: th… Please could this be done today. Many thanks

You can definitely feel the history at this place. The Claremont does a pretty good of mixing classic feel with new amenities.

It was seventeen years ago that we got married hear! That brought back lots of memories, it was beautiful. The room that we had was facing the bay and of course we let the sun in the next morning. We hated to leave! We will be back!

« Having to change rooms didn't help with the satisfation. »

I was attending a conference and had to makes some changes to my stay (extended both on the front and back for one night). The room I received during check-in was very nice but I was asked to move as per the reservation. The second room I stayed in (#567) was ok but I don't think that this was actually the booked category (King Deluxe). Otherwise, the hotel itself was very nice and I overall enjoyed my stay.

« Nice room, beautiful view. »

Wonderful man who greets you outside, Did not feel that the check in person was very good. When we came back to lobby we found out about the "champagne" check in did not advise us. Room was nice but a bit off. Too dark in closet area. maid hung used robe over the door! Nice view. Pool felt too commercial so we did not use it. Restaurant was too loud...as were some of the guests so we choose a different venue the next evening when we entertained 10. I advise girl at reception stand on why we cancelled our res. Nothing to absorb the sound, all hard surfaces. One female front line employee badly needed a manicure, chipped and polish here and there. I will not say who, but it is managements job to make sure their help is "dressed' for occasion of working in an expensive venue. My following responses are based on YOU are an expensive hotel. so I expect more. I had to call twice to get the phone answered to make my reservation, once I gave up thinking I was on a "dead" line, but no, just extremely slow.
