We always enjoy our stay mainly because of the fabulous staff. The newly redecorated rooms are a significant improvement over the prior situation that was sorely in need of improvement for MANY years. The reopening of the Palm Terrace restaurant was highly welcomed. It is inconceivable that a resort flying the reputable Fairmont flag would not have a first class restaurant open for dinner every day!!! Cafe Taboras is fine for breakfast and lunch but is in extreme need of renovation and upgrading!

The beach and facilities and accommodations were first rate. There were 2 slip ups in service: one night our dinner reservation was not honored and we had to wait 45 minutes and the concierge did not tell us that our restaurant request for a seaside table at an outside restaurant could not be filled and we did not understand that when we arrived at the restaurant. Also the fine dining restaurant at the hotel was closed until our last night and that upset us since we were visiting in high season. The result was that we ate in outside restaurants for half of our stay.

very friendly staff, excellent bedrooms, first class beach but smoking area disappointing Coral reef have 6 tables facing the sea. Mrs O'Hara caters well for her smokers. Would have liked to see the other restaurant opened

There's not much to add. The welcome is always warm, the room is fabulous, the staff are warm & friendly especially Tiffani ( give her a raise ! ) The location on the beach is lovely, pool guys are great, its just GREAT !

Only thing is AC a little bit too loud, I can't fall sleep 1st night. Everything else is perfect. Restaurant could be improved too, considering this price range.

As above but on checking out hotel staff claimed they had not received accommodation voucher which included bed and breakfast. Despite providing evidence to the contrary staff continued to contest that my final bill should include additional charges for breakfast. This issue was subsequently resolved and explained as a "breakdown in communications". This could only have been from staff at the hotel since my original bill excluded additional charges for breakfast! I am a member of the Presidents Club (Membership No. 32…) and was advised to join the club on a previous visit to the same hotel. I was told then that benefits included extended check out time for a late departure. When I requested a check out time of 2pm, having given 24 hours notice, I was told this was not possible because the room was to be prepared for new guests arriving at 1.30 pm. We vacated the room at 12.15 and sat in the lobby until our pick up time of 3pm. We saw one set of guests arrive during that period who did not leave the lobby at 1.30pm. Finally the menu in Toboras restaurant was disappointing and of poorer quality than previously experienced.

We have been coming since 1988 which says enough in itself. We liked the newly renovated rooms which are a great improvement. Palm terrace was closed for the duration of our stay which was very sad despite the fact that Taboras provided a pleasant evening with improved food presentation. For a five star hotel I believe it must have a signature restaurant which Palm Terrace always used to be. I believe that it is essential for this situation to be addressed in the near future. If we liked the result of decisions we would spend more time eating in such a restaurant. As always the staff are the stand out plus for the enjoyment of the hotel.

The hotel is wonderfully situated, right on a beautiful beach. The rooms are contemporary, spacious and light. The dining area has wonderful views across the bay. Service is friendly in the restaurant if not always the fastest. Food is solid if not overly imaginative.

« The hotel is a beautiful location, but the construction at high season and unfriendly staff, along with lack of fine dining was unacceptable. »

We were returning to the hotel, excited to see the new renovations. The rooms are beautiful as is the view. A pool cabana was noisily being constructed (at high season) making relaxing by the pool unappealing. There was major construction - a jack hammer being used in the room beside us on the Sunday of our arrival. We were told it was a quick fix. It continued the next day until 6:30 at night. We were leaving the next morning - couldn't they have held off until then?

« Fantastic Fairmont experience! »

Without exception all the staff at the Fairmont are fantastic. From the moment you arrive to the day you sadly have to leave all the Hotel Team are there to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The Hotel itself is set in the most idyllic location right on the beach. The recent refurb is excellent and the rooms are very modern and accommodating. The Hotel restaurant is also excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Fairmont Royal Pavilion again in the future.

We specifically requested, in advance, that we be given a room on the bottom floor near the hotel entrance. We were given a room on the second floor and as far away from the entrance as possible. My wife had had foot surgery and had great difficulty walking this distance.

« Beautiful resort! Perfect in every way! »

We chose Fairmont after a stay in Victoria at your hotel there. We were not disappointed! The views from the rooms are unbeatable! The lounges on the porch are a wonderful touch! The staff is great, the housekeeping is above board, and the food is great! I would love to see more variation in the menu! I think a big plus would be some tropical hanging baskets on the hooks in the restaurant. The atmosphere would be greatly improved! I love the ahhh feeling to see the overall romantic ambiance. I felt the bedding should be upgraded. The sheets did not have a 4 star resort feel.

« A good hotel in a lovely setting with great staff but there is room for improvement. »

We were very disappointed to discover that the Palm Terrace Restaurant was closed and that no-one had thought to tell us before we arrived. This meant that we had to eat out of the hotel more often than we had planned. The location is sublime; the staff are lovely ( if somewhat under-trained); the rooms are impressive ( we had a beach-front junior suite and could not fault it). The hotel appreciated that we had some concerns and worked hard to make up for this and we ended up much happier than we started. There are some excellent restaurants in the area so we had some very good meals in the evenings. The food in Taboras is good but on the first occasion that we ate there service was chaotic though the food was fine. On the second occasion service and food were both very good.
