Service on beach was very poor. Didn’t take away empty plates, glasses. I was I’ll while away, asked for an extra duvet at 9.15 got it at 4pm. Breakfast area is very tired and needs an update for the prices.

« Beautiful location, mainly lovely staff but OVERPRICED and only partially refurbished »

Stayed many times over the years but the Fairmont has never known its market well enough. Yes the location is stunning, rooms are nice (but not as sensational as the marketing post refurb makes out) and the majority of the staff are very friendly but this hotel is priced second only to sandy lane and there is no way it is the second best hotel on island. I love the beach, the food has drastically improved since Kirk took over and the pool is nice. There are major changes needed though, a 5 star shouldn't have 1 restaurant (the other one hardly opens) and as much as I applaud the decision to allow children all year round from December where is the prevision for anyone bringing children to the resort? It is 1 month from being family friendly and there is no kids club, no kids pool, no child centric activities and no nanny or babysitting service so parents can have a meal or swim alone. Without this it is irrelevant if they let children in or not as families will choose better equipt luxury resorts which are all over Barbados. It is also only partly refurbished, the villa has new rooms but old bathroom suites, facilities like the restaurant have not been changed and we even had a ripped chair at breakfast. The Tennis court is so cracked and dirty it could not really be used not to mention a shop that is so small old and overpriced it is pointless being there and a hair salon that looks like it has had no investment since the 1980s! This is not a five star hotel in truth even though some exceptional staff and the beautiful location make the guest experience nice despite the faults. It is the only 5 star on the island not sold out over the peak Christmas season because it charges over £2000 A NIGHT! based on all I have mentioned above you would have to be a fool to spend this on a room here! The hotel has never recovered from loosing Tim Morrison as manager and needs much more investment and care. It is such a shame as it could be a rival to sandy lane but despite the hotels optimism it takes more than just wanting to be great, to actually be great. It is a shame.

The hotel staff are amazing, so welcoming, friendly & helpful, all of them. Clean spacious rooms. Fantastic room service, great food, a true 5 star hotel. As above, if I had to force comments they would be, but it is nitpicking, not faults I travel extensively:- Different prices in the between the main bar & the beach club, for food & liquor, even though both in the hotel complex. Minute wine $85 in the beach bar & $120 in the main bar! other drinks differed also. Bed & breakfast rate, does not include a coffee at breakfast, bizarre! One of the best sunsets I have ever experienced, surprised that the hotel does not have a "sunset experience", using the both bars, maybe a small buffet/snacks, gentle music,, photo moments, sunset & a gin n tonic, to celebrate this truly amazing natural phenomenon. I think the hotel is missing a great marketing potential here, which could also lead to a better atmosphere, in the bar area & create an evening. Maybe a putting green or croquet. Gym, is a bit sparse, with broken machines, but hey, its a holiday. Restaurant prices are very high, even compared to The Cliff, The Fish pot etc... Complimentary slippers, would not go a miss.

The Fairmont Royal Pavilion is a hotel located in a beautiful setting, with lovely engaging staff and rooms recently refurbished to very high standards. However the standard of service has notably detiorated since the refurbishment. This was my fourth visit in five years to the Royal Pavilion, and I think it is now showing tangible shortcomings: 1. The dining experience - Taboras Restaurant menu was limited, and main course presentation was bland in appearance and taste. A somewhat tasteless piece of tuna, a mound of rice, and a side bowl of salad. To compound the costs of the meal were totally disproportionate to the experience 2. Breakfast has moved to the Palm Terrace restaurant, and food moved into a closed end room to helpfully prevent birds from constantly scavenging. However the food was insufficiently replenished in several area, some hot food in pans were not properly attended to, and became cold to luke warm, and navigating through a door with handle while carrying multiple items awkward. 3. From time to time, service levels were sub-standard - requests made not followed through, slow serving of coffee / tea at breakfast, table waiting hit and miss 4. While gym equipment was acceptable, two or three items out of order. In summary while we had an enjoyable holiday and time at the Fairmont, it's definitely not operating at the standards it used to.

Having stayed a the Royal pavilion on 2 other occasions previously. My wife & I where really excited about our 3rd visit to celebrate my 50th birthday & to see the refurbishment, the rooms where vastly improved. How-ever no other areas had been improved, we where really disappointed that the breakfast area had moved to Palm terrace, this area is desperate for refurbishment, the decor is dated, the breakfast room where food is collected from smelt & was very uninviting, the door made it difficult to both access & exit carrying food, it was more like a storage room, a really unpleasant experience. We did complain & the manager Kindly remove the cost of breakfast, however we would have rather had breakfast in Taboras which is an inviting area. The sport bar area again was totally untouched, which again was very disappointing. On a positive note I must say that the one thing that still stand out, are the Fantastic friendly staff, in every area of the hotel. Fairmount really need to refurbish the areas ASAP in order to keep the hotel in line with other, ever improving hotels in the area

We loved the low buildings in a soft pink, the lovely tiled paths and loads of shrubbery. We thought the staff were absolutely wonderful. That fantastic bajan warmth and friendliness. Also very helpful. Sad that your main dining room was shut so we ate out every evening at five of our favourite restaurants. BUT we understand that breakfasts have to be out for a long time but your coffee was appalling. You have a proper coffee machine in the Bar for lattes, cappucinos etc but not in the Breakfast room. A real downer for us.

Relaxing and enjoyable Rather lacking in information as regards activities within the hotel. Not advised of sessions in gym - if any. This may have been due to time of year we stayed. Had enquires online regarding dining in Palm restaurant- was not aware not in use for evening dining until evening managers reception. Never received response from enquiry.
