Room was nice, sand well kept. The butlers were very good, however the food servers need some work. If you say that they come around on the beach, have them come more often. When we first got there, I was excited that they would serve us food and drinks on the beach, only to have to go up three times to the bar to ask where the servers were. I ended up ordering at the bar.

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay, the location, very clean, very friendly, delicious food. The only exception was that some of the activities (yoga) were not happening and we were not informed. We arrived late at night and no one was there the next day to inform us of the activities, restaurant closures, etc so we were not in the know.

« Second Family Stay at this Exquisite Resort »

This was our second summer stay at this lovely resort - one before and one after the renovation - travelling as a family of four with two teen children. The Pavilion is a charmingly private, brilliantly laid out, hotel - each room perfectly framing the beachfront and its pristine white sand and turquoise waters. The staff are professional, kind and helpful - and will cater to your every request. The rooms are clean, modern and provide for your every need and want. The balconies are exceptional - a spacious quiet place to read, rest or enjoy a room service meal or glass of wine. The single biggest difference we noted in our two stays was that the calibre of the Taboras restaurant has fallen off significantly with the restaurant pricing no longer competitive with some of the other top restaurants we dined out during our stay. Our first stay we did not venture off the property as our meals were fantastic, the service highly professional and charming, and the food divine. While our room service meals this stay were excellent and the delivery staff just lovely, the staff at the Taboras were slow (we waited over 1 hour for a meal to be delivered), lacking in polish and charm (as compared to Lone Star and The Tides), the food good but not wonderful, and the cheque bigger than at their competitors who delivered 5 star service and food. I have read other reviews and know that I am not unique in this opinion. On a similar note, the buffet breakfast is overpriced (and somewhat lacks the charm it used to have in the Taboras restaurant with the omelette chef front and centre - although I appreciate that may be because of the birds). Afternoon tea is a delight - but again, overpriced, and as such a deterrent to taking advantage of more than the one time complimentary stay offer. The Pavilion would be incomparable if the dining were remedied. All that said, we would and will absolutely come and stay again, and recommend this hotel - but would venture to say the Island has tremendous restaurants nearby that currently have more to offer.

Everything was perfect, only complaint was room service was quite slow. Every staff member was EXTREMELY kind and friendly. Would certainly come back. However The restaurants quality of food and breakfast and service has to be increased to 5 star level, currently it's at 4 star, everything else is 5 star

Fairmont was an absolutely incredible place, from the awesome staff down to the incredible rooms. Rooms felt brand new and clean and all had incredible views of the ocean. The staff were very friendly and all smiles. I recommend staying on the higher floors, great view without people laying out in front of your room. Overall the experience was top notch!

The staff is very accommodating and the rooms were beautiful and the beach was great! The restaurant for breakfast and dinner equally great! Though the restaurant should vary the menu during the week for repeat customers and have more reasonably priced options also! Guests should be able to choose a beach chair spot and be assigned this spot with a number for the duration of their stay as is done in Europe.

It was like coming home ! The staff are wonderful. Loved the refurbished rooms . Sadly the crockery and palm terrace dining room are tired and a bit shabby, the same needs to be done there . Also a spa would be nice , it’s not the same having a treatment in your room . The stand alone villa would be the perfect place ! Thought the food was very good , much improved on previous years .

« Great Hotel, but could be so much better »

My wife and I stayed in the hotel this summer for 2 weeks. The hotel itself was fantastic and set in magnificent surroundings. However, the staff were often abrupt and a little lazy, particularly whilst serving customers with one night being chased out of the restaurant as we had forgotten to pay for a bottle of water. Additionally, the hotel is advertised as having 2 restaurants, something which my wife and I were looking forward to using, however on the second night we asked about the second restaurant and was informed it was shut as the hotel wasn't busy, to which there is nothing in any of the literature we received from the travel agent or on your website that this may occur. Similarly in this restaurant the menu never changed in the two weeks we were there and for a few nights we ended up eating from the kids menu just for the sake of difference! In the end we ended up resorting to asking the chef/waiters/waitresses if they could make us something up which they happily obliged - such a shame to taint the experience as the food when prepared was actually very nice! This could be a fantastic hotel deserving of a 10 star rating, if the effort was made to make it that way because all the ingredients to do so are already there. Lovely island, lovely hotel, shame about the foody bits!

My friend and I love the Fairmont group and have stayed in their hotels in Hawaii, Switzerland and San Francisco. This hotel, however, was a bit of a disappointment. While the staff were generally extremely friendly and helpful, the grounds and amenities were just not up to scratch. The breakfast was especially disappointing at $44 pp and distinctly lacking in pretty much everything. The latte I got for what turned out to be additional $17 was tasteless. The beach is absolutely gorgeous, but the motor sport etiquette is terrible. Jetskis pass within meters of swimmers and generally too close to the shore. The rooms have been renovated but are a bit awkward in interior design and that's considering we upgraded to a junior suite to get a big extra space and to be able to have essentially direct access to the beach, which is a nice perk. We kept thinking, however, that the money spent on the Italian glass vases sitting everywhere around the hotel grounds and rooms could have been better spent. It was certainly not a bad stay, but it was nothing particularly memorable, at least as far as the hotel goes.

personal is very friendly and professional rooms (suite) are well maintained, bathroom need a refresh the restaurant is excellent (fish is outstanding) but we lack some day's special peculiarly when you stay 2 weeks breakfast is very expensive (USD40 per person? really?) garden are beautiful the communal rooms (both restaurants) need a clear update, furniture and paint are dated

Beautiful beach, quaint hotel but showing more wear than a typical resort Fairmont. Although we stayed during the off season, this hotel was significantly more "sleepy" than sub par hotels next door. The restaurant was nearly vacant each night and evening entertainment was scheduled only twice in our 5 night stay. However, the food in the restaurant was quite good and people that work at the hotel may be the nicest that we have encountered in all our travels. People like Rea, Shaka and Andre really make the place special. We will return!
