The hotel was beautiful and all of the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We needed to extend our stay an additional night and the Manager refused to honor the rate that we received when we booked. The purpose of our trip was to celebrate our honeymoon (which the hotel did not acknowledge) and to also get my husband's visa transferred at the US Embassy in Barbados. His visa/passport was supposed to be delivered to the hotel on Friday but unfortunately it did not process in time, and it would be ready by Monday morning. Our flight was booked for Sunday afternoon, so we needed to extend the trip. We communicated this with the front desk staff and they urged us to connect with Expedia to see if they would honor the rate that we booked at for an additional night. After 1.5 hours on the phone with Expedia, they said there was nothing they could do and to speak with management at the Fairmont directly. Since we had stayed with the hotel for 5 nights, you would think that management would honor the same rate but they did not do this, they wanted to charge us $880 for the additional night, which by the end of it, gave us a 10% discount, which was $790 + taxes and fees which came out to $900 for the additional night. I found that management not honoring our original booking rate to be horrible customer service and a poor reflection of the hotel and their values, especially since the staff told us that the room was available. Really disappointed in how management handled the situation. Despite the beautiful beach, rooms and friendly staff, we would not return.

The staff are amazing. The room had a great view. The only thing that lets down the hotel is the quality of food at dinner and we can’t understand why the hotel doesn’t use the breakfast room fir dinner as well. However, once again, the staff were of the highest order and in our opinion, equal to Sandy Lane.

After arriving and taking in the magnificent setting that the Royal Pavilion offer I relaxed into my holiday almost immediately. All the staff are warm & friendly with bags of personality! they ensure your stay is as perfect as possible but without being constantly on show, nothing was too much trouble. The beach staff were very attentive as soon as you stepped on the sand they were there with towels following you to your chosen daybeds, waiter service consistent, except after 4pm when it became thin on the ground and I found myself ordering afternoon cocktails at the bar area. Breakfast fabulous, the birds were a little annoying but I think if the tables are cleared away asap when clients leave this would help the problem a lot. The newly refurbished bedrooms were fabulous especially the junior suites with their own terrace looking over the beach but the rooms on 2/3 floor didn't disappoint they had amazing balconies with beautiful daybeds, ceiling fans & fine white curtains giving privacy and protection from the sun. The only negative feedback I would give is in the evenings the hotel lacked atmosphere, we found our group going to the Loan Star down the beach which has a great buzzy bar & fabulous cocktails with fun barmen showing off there bar skills. This would not stop me from returning to the hotel but thought it was a shame. Looking to book for next year already! Thank you for a fantastic holiday.

Suggestions- I think it would be nice if there were retractable screens in the breakfast area, the birds were very dirty and annoying! Also when the guest have to sign the breakfast slip for the complimentary breakfast, this puts the guest on the defense and I seen them slip out on purposes. I seen it put everyone on edge including the staff trying to hunt the guest down. If your trying to do this as a count there must be another way to do this such as a guest check in, before being seated. We loved the music at night but when it stopped at 9:15 p.m. it made everyone leave very shortly after that. It would be good to have music even if it was't live. The bar is still open until 12:00 and that would sell more on your end if there were fun music going on. Very friendly staff!!! I was very surprised by the price per night with how small the resort was and what was offered. I think it would be nice to add a small refrigerator (fill with goodies at a cost) again another way for the resort to make money and a microwave to each room. I hope this helps.

The Barbados Beach Experience surpassed our Best Expectations, during our four day stay . . . The staff extremely accommodating , fabulous Beach - steps away, fabulous Pool just as close, beautiful gardens and Great Cuisine in your Facilities Restaurants . . . . The Fairmont Pavilion hotel has the best spot, with all rooms overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Sea. The staff cannot do enough for you, the rooms are well equipped with coffee machines, and we had a wonderful and relaxing time.

You need to do something about the evening meals, as we went out most evenings because the Chef hasn't got a clue. The menu is below even a 3 star hotel

I have been visiting Royal Pavilion for over 25 years,and I appreciate that changes and improvements have been made without damaging the hotel’s intrinsic charm.But I hope the issue of non-functioning minibars in hotel rooms will soon be addressed. I particularly like that breakfast is now served in Palm Terrace,which I always feel is sadly underused. For me the outstanding quality of the hotel is the genuine friendliness of hotel staff.

As always the staff were wonderful and the new rooms are very elegant and comfortable. It was nice to see Jean Christophe, the manager, around the hotel most days. He obviously takes his reposnsibilities very seriously and he was always checking we were happy with our stay. In the past Ic had really enjoyed the food but this time I felt that the menu had become more focussed on local cuisine and, as someone who doesn't like highly spiced food, I felt that restricted my choice of food quite a lot. Do you really need heat ( was it hot pepper?) in corned beef hash at breakfast? The live music on the terrace was sometimes really intrusive. On several evenings the volume was so loud we were shouting at each other. If the aim is for gentle background music for people having dinner and drinks perhaps the hotel needs more entertainers who provide that, rather than singers who also play the saxophone.
