« The check in process ruined the stay »

We arrived on a tour sponsored by Rocky Mountaineer. There was no coordination between the hotel and the tour. The hotel was entirely unprepared to handle check in for a tour group. We waited over an hour in the President’s Club line. In fact the regular line ended up moving faster.

Two best friends, two sisters, mother of the bride and the bride came to the hotel to enjoy the amenities of the spa and the town of Banff. The spa experience was relaxing and very enjoyable, right down to the lunch. Hotel rooms were very nice and welcome with champagne and cupcakes was a very nice touch. The weekend came to a close with another incredible dining experience for Sunday Brunch. The bride and her entourage were very pleased. Thank you.

« Good but not exceptional »

As usual the Springs provided high end service and exceptional personnel. BUT the hotel itself is challenged — fine— its iconic and unique. I will accept that. As the prices rise to 500 plus a night though seperate “resort fee” and do many other add ons are just annoying. It seems every action is an opportunity for you to “ take” more. I’d rather pay 600 and get certain services gratis than your current price structure Parking?? 25 plus 14 valet — most people drive there. I’d rather pay more and not worry about that It seemed like every minute there was another charge. That’s my issue in the context of a great iconic hotel staffed by well trained service oriented people.

« Poor room; poor response. »

We have stayed at the Banff Springs perhaps a dozen times and this was, by quite a good margin, our least enjoyable experience. Primarily because of the room and related to that, the inability of anyone on staff to make a change for us. This was both surprising to us and disappointing to us in light of the fact that in the last year our company has brought 1400 room nights to the Fairmont (600 to Banff Springs just 4 weeks earlier) and the fact we just achieved Platinum status with Fairmont. Nothing seemed to be of any concern to those we asked to improve our room. We do an event with the Westin where we do about 400 room nights and they can't do enough for us. The contrast was striking and disappointing.

« Lack of information making our stay frustrating »

Self parking was a nightmare, with little directions and information from the parking attendants. Check in was OK but again little information re gold class, and struggled to get information about the town. Our room was OK, nothing special. Gold class was nice, having the lounge was great. We had a meal at the vermillion restaurant and this did not live up to expectations, our table was right near the service station and the restaurant was very noisy. Service was good though, as was the meal, but the ambience was poor. Overall the castle requires a lot of maintenance as does the grounds. For the money paid I would say probably not value for money. We were not informed of the amenities and could not find the compendium in our room. Check out was completed with no problems

I LOVED Canada in every way. I loved everyone from the airport to the uber drivers to the people on the street. Banff was lovely and the property was lovely. I had a server from India for afternoon tea who was wonderful in every way. Everyone else that I interacted with at the hotel literally took me by surprise because of how badly they behaved. I had no such experience in any hotel or business anywhere else in the whole country. Since I have been home, people have remarked that I stayed in an iconic location. I've told them all the same thing. Worst part of my experience. My luggage wasn't delivered to my room for over 3 hours. They wouldn't turn it over to me and I was late for a dinner meeting. Only one person through that whole process was even polite to me, everyone else acted like it didn't matter. That was my only 3 hours down time before I had to be available for business again and I spent it waiting in my room and arguing with staff members. The restaurant staff was atrocious. They couldn't remember who ordered what. Everyone waited 15-30 min for drinks. Everyone was totally polite about not getting their stuff, but the servers would get angry if you asked if the drink was coming because you thought they forgot. If you didn't ask, they did forget. I honestly have never anywhere in the world had a service experience like I had there except maybe at a really cheap roadside motel. The one person who was nice about my luggage being misplaced told me he informed management of the problem and they would make it right. I never heard anything from them. There were number of other experiences that I don't list that further reflected an overall culture of treating the guest like the enemy. It was like everyone assumed I would be rude or difficult before I said anything. I am just glad the rest of my experience in canada was so different, or it really would have hurt my feelings.

I really enjoyed your staff and hotel. Plenty to do. I wish I had stayed longer but I will be back with more of family. I won’t watch new however. Trudeau is too much.

Overall a very positive experience, enjoyed the ambience, service, dining and public spaces. Very helpful staff. Our room was smaller than expected and we found the layout of the small bathroom unusual and unhelpful.
