We had a two night stay at the Ibis Swanston St. for our anniversary. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable but a little on the small side. It was a bit of a struggle to access the window side of the bed but overall, we didn't mind...we were only there to sleep.Street noise was only a problem when the construction work next door started. Can't help that though and they won't be around forever! Thank goodness for the double glazing on the windows! The rest of our stay was amazing. Everything was within walking distance...Vic Market, China Town, Museum, City Centre...we loved being able to walk everywhere! And if you don't like to walk, the tram was right outside the door! Would definitely stay there again!

« Not good for value and location »

Stayed one night and paid AUD 122 under the Accor member program. The location is not good as the nearest free tram is at Melbourne Central and a good 15-20 mins walk away. To get to the tram stop nearest the hotel, we need to use a MYKI card and it is not worthwhile for short visits. During our checkout date, it was raining very heavily and we ask the receptionist to help us call a taxi. When the taxi arrived, it could only stop outside along the street as it cannot reverse into the hotel porch. For that, I had to walk my 83 yr old mum to the taxi and got drenched in the heavy rain. The taxi ride to Spring St/Collins St. cost us AUD 20 for the short trip. The room amenities were quite bare... no bedroom slippers, tooth brush, shower cap etc.. only 2 plastic disposable cup in the bathroom. The breakfast had limited items and taste horrible. For Accor members, it's better to go to other Accor hotels (e.g Novotel at Swanston) for breakfast at 50% rate. The only plus point is the polite and helpful staff at front desk (and a nice Welcome card from the Manager).

« Small room, no specific wardrobe, no room on one side of the bed. Expensive for what was supplied. »

This IBIS room was SMALL. There was no wardrobe, just a hanger. There was not enough room on one side of the bed to get in and out of comfortably. In fact this was almost a hazard. There was a bed, a bedside table with small chair and a small room with toilet and shower. This room did not provide a relaxing space because of its size. There was a tv on the wall and tea and coffee making facilities. If you are prepared for what you get then you will not be disappointed but for AUD $172 per night, this is too expensive. Room was clean and tidy and staff at the front desk were fabulous.

Overall fine, but didn't realise no facilities in the room, so not able to use groceries or cook anything. Thought might be able to use someones microwave but no. Difficult to hang clothes on the little rod. No storage area to put things, Small room.

« It was adequate for our stay. »

We found the room had limited space and the hanging space was not satisfactory. The bathroom was very satisfactory though the door was very noisy as we shut it. The parking arrangements were very satisfactory.
