Beyond expectations - Great anniversary celebrated :-)

Darkadia Couples - 08/07/2019 TripAdvisor review

We spent few days in this resort and we really enjoyed our staying. The entire Staff was very keen to address all of our needs and helping for anything since our arrival. Reception, restaurant, bar, pool, spa 's staff were always close to us in any of our needs. That has been really appreciated and it's the main thing that make a 5 stars hotel a real 5 stars. Location is a tipical apulian Masseria, really refined and clean .You cannot ask for more if you want to taste this specific atmosphere and experience. We were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and I really appreciated the flowers and Champagne asked for the welcome surprise, everything has been really nice and well managed by the staff. We had no opportunity to taste the restaurant unfortunately , but the breakfast in the morning was giving anyway a bit of taste regarding their skills in kitchen :-) . Honestly we had a look on some reviews before arriving there and there were (few) very unfair, specially regarding cleaning .. Of course we will take in the future opportunity to come back in this place and we really recommend to friends and TA community as a perfect place in Polignano , worth to stay.

We enjoyed our stay a few areas could have been better. We paid for 3 adults in one room, apart from a sofa bed the room was set up for 2, water bottles etc. the sofa bed was very hard and uncomfortable, reception were unable/willing to help. The pool was great, staff ok, the restaurant food was poor, trying to be fancy but failing. The young man at reception was fantastic some of the others less helpful. Nice but not 5 star.

Comfortable hotel good facilities excellent breakfast dinner not so good more local cuisine would improve menu and stop trying to do novelle cuisine, Wi-fi really inadequate need complete update

We stayed three nights, and we had rooms 210 and 208. First of all, a round of applause to the lady at the reception who was very friendly, caring, smiling, helpful, nice to deal with. The hotel itself is typical of the region, lovely, located in a quiet relaxing surrounding, the rooms are modern , clean, very comfortable, bedding very fine. However this hotel has an official 5 star rating, and while this is probably well deserved for the the South of Italy, there are some details that could make one challenge the 5 stars. For instance, the outdoor pool was not open at the end of May, there was no full length mirror in the suite, the housekeeping was inconsistent, the turn down bed service done 1 day out of 2, same for the sweet on the pillow, the table on the terrace was never cleaned; on the safety side, some handrails are missing and are very much needed on some of the stairs, there is a real danger especially given the height of the steps; insects and mosquitoes are a problem, yet no screen on the windows; the gravel in the driveway and parking is dusty, shoe soles get dirty, and the dirt is taken onto the car carpet, and it is not nice. And the restaurant itself is an issue,we had diner three times and had a change to experience many of the options offered on the menu, the food is very good, however it is way over-sophisticated, kind of the nouvelle cuisine of the last century; it would be worth having a simpler true Mediterranean cuisine, promoting the local food specialties. However overall, a great hotel to stay for a relaxing stay when visiting the region, I strongly recommend.

Lovely hotel in great location with excellent food and very helpful staff. The hotel has brilliant views over the coast line and takes advantage of this with the bar, restrauant and breakfast terrace. The rooms are comfortable, well appointed and for the weather warm! The highlight was the food which was flavourful, tasty, exciting and pretty. We were well served by Donato and his team. Pierro in the bar was incredibly helpful, looking after our every need and going the extra mile every time. We would recommend a bar menu for the evening as a guest may not always wish to have restaurant food each night. We would defy recommend the hotel to others.

Quiet stay in charming place in campagnia, very central to visit many beautiful places around.

Quiet stay in early May in a beautiful and charming place with great views, beautiful surroundings and great people who like to make your stay very pleasant and relax. Great bedding ( cushions, duvet etc), fantastic breakfast and excellent massage. The hotel with this standing would definitely gain to open the Spa area permanently and free of charge, in particular out of the summer season ( reservation before use , limits effective use of this facility). The lounge bar would gain by better , warmer lights - replacing the current very white almost TL type of colder lights and would gain by nice background music instead of a noisy TV with telenovella ( which highly interested a barman) which made the area more a sport cafe instead of a comfortable relaxing area. Overall we liked the stay though very much, but a permanent detailed attention to keep standards up would make the hotel even better.

Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable.

Beautiful surrounding and traditionally decorated rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast with local products. The only one small disappointment was that as part of a Sillver AccorMember I received the voucher only for soft drink at the bar. In other hotels as part of the Accor I’ve always received voucher for any kind of drink.

A great property which could have been turned into a real gem. But not.Location - relaxing and perfect to indulge into the pugliese countryside.A great front desk associate named Alessia - the only reason apart from the location to stay here. Endowed with a great personality, genuine, professional, she is the only one on the staff who understands her job and cares. The rest are just on the clock and, regardless of their age group, are careless and act in a very amateur-like way. It may be them, or the lack of proper management, training, or all these factors combined. The swimming pool opens at 10:00 A.M., so you should forget about that morning dip before breakfast, the latter is over by 10:30. Water doesn’t look nor feels clean, not even transparent. Breakfast is served in a morguelike room in the basement next to a tired health-center begging for refurb. Breakfast selection would be a total disaster but here the gorgeous climate saves the day: nuts, fruit, local cheeses and cold cuts, and, of course, exquisite pastries - everything produced by external suppliers is really good. What is prepared in-house is a total miss - from the soggy oily scrambled eggs in the morning to the dinner courses. We had dinner one night and every dish was a disappointment. Tasteless, incomplete, lacking the savors and flavors that are so present in Italian cuisine. The maitre’d/sommelier is extremely good at hearing about the guest’s wine taste and heartily recommending a local wine which is thousands miles away. One can only guess why he would do this...Housekeeping is a joke: always a different set of towels, different ways to do downturn service every single night ranging from none to pillow mint plus a teabag/pillowmint only/teabag only, and no mints-no teabags but some manipulation with the bedspread (doesn’t happen the nights you get mints or teabags), never an attempt to clean the terrace and the furniture there, so that the in-room breakfast can be served directly on a table covered with dust and bird feces. And you actually have to point out that you prefer a clean table on your terrace so that you have to ask the surprised waiter to use the cart instead. Once again, a nice property is not enough to make a nice hotel. It is sad that the staff take no pride in their jobs nor in their beautiful region full of history and traditions. They simply don’t care, why then would you bother to honor this place with a stay?

Exceeded all expectations- great value

Lynden K. Couples - 24/09/2018 AccorHotels certified review

The Maseria styled resort impressed my wife and I over a three day stay and proved a convenient base to tour the many nearby attractions. At less than 480€ inclusive of breakfast for the three nights, we felt it delivered abundantly. Check in was seamless and assistance was readily available to assist with the bags and even to park our car. The reception staff were a delight to deal with. The room allocated was on the top of three levels being # 205 and afforded both sea and countryside views from the generous sized furnished balcony. The room whilst not large was big enough and well presented and spotlessly clean. Ample towels were supplied, tea/coffee making facilities and a coffee machine as well as plush dressing gowns. The shower was bath combo. The bedding was appropriately luxurious and the bed exceedingly comfortable. Public areas and the large pool were delightful with no shortage of lounges or shade although the scantily dressed ( although very hard working) pool man in his micro sized speedos was a tad uncomfortable for my wife. Breakfast was a generous buffet spread regularly replenished with eggs any style on order. Given the plethora of external dining options, we chose not to sample the hotel’s evening restaurant. My only three minor gripes concerned service of the breakfast in the dungeon like basement which seemed inexcusable given the ample better options available eg courtyard, pool terrace or main dining room, the inability to provide an iron and the wifi which forever was dropping out and unavailable. Overall, we left at the civilised check out time of noon more than satisfied and certainly comfortable to recommend.

For the most part very pleasant and relaxing

Overall it was very good, apart from the weekend, when it was noisy especially around the pool, lots of children, some whizzing around on segways!

Kind and warm welcome by the staff. The rooms are spacious in the local and authentic masseria style. The swimming pool looks nice but water temperature was rather cool.

Worst Sofitel Experience Ever

Jon Couples - 23/08/2018 AccorHotels certified review

This place needs a total refurbishment. On arrival in suite AC not working in bedroom. Remote control for bedroom TV did not work (batteries needed replacing - why not checked before guest arrival). No information regarding available TV channels or that Sky was available (just on bedroom TV not sitting room). Bath plug did not work - was fixed after two days. First night Breakfast order placed on door as instructed but no breakfast arrived - discovered no one had collected the breakfast card from outside door. Incredibly the second night again it was not collected. When breakfasts did finally arrive extremely random and every day there were things that had been ordered missing. As for Hotel WiFi that was a total joke. On a speedtest readings were often less than 1MB download and similar upload. Many other guests were also complaining. Eventually told that by 8am Sunday it would be working of course it wasn't but the following day we were given name of a new server and password that did work at times. Always for whatever problem there was an excuse. At no time did we see the Manager unless that was one of the girls or Sonia on reception. Although our "suite" did have two rooms the bedroom was tiny the sitting room not much better - no table/chairs should we have wanted to have breakfast indoors rather than on the terrace (what happens when it rains ?) the furniture all extremely dated cheap and ugly. The hotel was so remote that taxis had to be ordered hours in advance although possibly the one good thing was that the hotel had a complimentary shuttle bus that would take and pick up to Poligana otherwise one was forced to eat in Whites restaurant which frankly was disappointing as well. The pool was well run with the pool attendant constantly making sure fresh towels etc were placed on the sunbeds and the bar/restaurant area was also efficiently run except that in the restaurant area we were constantly bothered by wasps. We did see the pool guy spraying insect killer into the bordering bushes but the wasps were winning. As to housekeeping this was reasonably efficient although on two days we were left without face cloths and short a towel which meant we guess they had run out. One of the main reasons that we booked this hotel was because of the Sofitel branding having stayed at other very comfortable and efficient Sofitel Hotels elsewhere. It really beggars belief that Sofitel would add it's name to this property.

A tranquil place to stay

The hotel was lovely, not too big and everything was spread so there was plenty of space in seating areas and at the pool. The breakfast was good and the staff attentive, especially the reception staff.

I was been in Borgo Bianco for only 48 hrs with my wife for an unplanned break. This Hotel and SPA, suggested by some friends, was a very nice discovery. The location and the overall structure is very well organised and well maintained, however, all the team from the reception, restaurant, to pool service was very professional and kind, as you can expect to from a luxury hotel, and they make the difference. I would like to mention Porzia from SPA and her team that really provides a great relaxing and treatment experience to me and my wife. I definitively recommend a stay at Borgo Bianco and I will be back.
