Warm welcome at reception. Room was lovely with a fantastic sea view. We were upgraded as members, which was excellent. It's a very elegant hotel in a really good location, if you want a long walk along the seafront, which many do. There are beach bars and restaurants along the "promenade" which have excellent food available. Breakfast was very good and plenty of variety. The only slight downside was that some of the staff were not as sharp as you'd expect and were slow even when it was not too busy. These could have been new and not fully trained but it was noticeable. Some staff were very good, especially on reception. Quality of the bedding and room was very good. We would certainly stay here again. The terrace is lovely for a drink and the menu for the restaurant looks great but the restaurant was a bit brightly lit and lacked a bit of atmosphere but it was not that busy and that could have been pat of the reason. Terrace has nice pool and sunbeds and is excellent for watching the sun set and the ships leaving the harbour in the town.

A very good quality hotel, well positioned on the seafront with good onsite (and free of charge) parking facilities. The rooms are well appointed, luxurious and well looked after, with good quality bathroom and toiletry products supplied. We arrived a little before regular check in time but that was of no issue to the reception staff and we were provided with a room promptly and efficiently. We dined in the restaurant and although on entry the meet and greet could have been better (we stood for a while awaiting someone to notice and ask us for a table, and it was all a little confusing which could have been avoided if you were greeted at the entrance) once seated the service and food quality was very good. Breakfast is served off of the main lobby and consists of the usual Italian cold buffet style but with a good selection and quality of food on offer. I would recommend and would definitely stay again if in the area.

Platinum members of LeClub AccorHotels can`t feel welcome at this property in comparition to other MGallery Hotels. Only welcome drink voucher handed out at check-in, to be honest for very poor drink, beer or wine served, not other alcohol containing drinks available. Shame for this hotel not used to be at other MGalleries. Furthermore no room upgrade even if higher room class still available for booking at the Accorhotels website. Even not any greetings card left at the room nor small gift from hotel management. Complimentary 2 bottles of water only at first night, not delivered for the second one. Really shame ! I don`t think to be ready to visit this property once again.

We had been travelling in Italy for several weeks and were looking for an interesting hotel on the west coast as we journeyed towards Siena. Reading about Livorno with its canals through the old city and the description of the Palazzo Grand Hotel, which is an Accor Sofitel, made our minds up. Expectations can lead to disappointments, but from the moment we saw the grand architecture from the street, to the beautiful formal but welcoming foyer, we could see that this hotel was something very special. Reception were efficient & friendly and we received welcome drink vouchers for the rooftop bar and terrace on the 5th floor. The white dining room, with big glass doors opening out to the pool & sun lounges provided an amazing view across the sea, and we had a prosecco while we waited for our room to be ready. ( we had arrived early) As Platinum members we were upgraded to a suite room with garden view. The room was stunning, generous in size, with a lounge, huge bedroom, and lovely marble bathroom. The bed with it's luxurious white linen was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The interior of the hotel was in immaculate condition, and the grand breakfast rooms with Venetian chandeliers provided a culinary and visual banquet. Food spread throughout the rooms looked magnificent & tasted fantastic. There were many varieties of freshly squeezed juices, fresh local fruits including lovely Italian peaches, assortments of delicious tarts, cakes & pastries, hot foods, great coffee, even sensational panacotta with raspberry purée. This was a memorable breakfast!! If you are in this part of Italy, this hotel is not to be missed! Thanks to all the staff.

The Grand Palazzo Livorno may have been truly grand once, now it's a little faded. Cracked marble, my shower cubicle leaked so badly water flowed to the bedroom. The odours in the corridor outside my room were interesting and ever changing but never exactly pleasant. Second breakfast it took 45 minutes and asking 2 different waiting staff 3 times to FAIL to get a coffee, I think this was the low point. Recepionist tried hard but became scarily abrupt as soon as there were more than 4 people waiting at the desk. WiFi was unusable, though I was at the hotel for a tech conference and usage was probably greater than usual it should have coped. The views from the roof bar were spectacular - the wine waiter was enthusiastic and informed - and Livorno is a pretty town but the hotel and staff would benefit from a little more investment.

Beautiful property on the Mediterranean Sea. Very comfortable rooms, bedding, and linens. Annoying lack of internet. Restaurant has beautiful views but food could use upgrading. Overall a very nice stay!

It is an excellent hotel. However I had stayed at this hotel several times in past 4-5 years but under a different management and hotel chain. So the quality of the service honestly is the same as before and nothing changed, which in my opinion is excellent

Not great room old floor dangerous in the room it was raised I reported this to reception nothing was done. Only 1 towel, 1 water for the stay, it was a disabled room, I had a glass of wine in the bar it cost me 10 euros and it was a small amount pored out because the bottle was Empty to mouthfuls and it was gone .the hotel for the price is shocking the service is terrible and the price of food and drink it far too much . Not 5 star and 3 star hotel maybe.

The first room we had was very noisy because of the music in the corridor. It ended at midnight and started again at 7am! Why?? The other room we had we more quiet on that aspect but next to the elevator so patato potato... The breakfast was very chaotic didn't managed the get a coffee... Ok it was offered by Giuseppe (who did his best to help with the noise, unlike the other staff members), but still for a 5* hotel I can't believe it. On the top it was impossible to turn off the AC in our second room which gave me a cold and ruined the rest of my holidays in Italy. I really regret the fact that we went to this hotel. It was a rough start for our holidays. The restaurant was fine, a bit pricy for the food served to be honest but ok. The SPA area was nice.

Was extremely unimpressed during my stay at the hotel. Expected much more from a 5 star hotel but was disappointed in many areas. The service for check in and out was very slow and unfriendly. The room had a broken drawer and the wifi did not work. When the air conditioning in our room did not work, we tried to call the front desk from our room phone repeatedly but no one picked up. The bathroom shower had mold and the bathroom floor was dirty (we took pictures of this).

The hotel was marvellous in every regard except one - the internet service. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet and intelligently designed. The restaurant was highly professional, and the food excellent. Car parking spaces were in limited supply but during our stay we had no problem securing a place. The location is superb, looking out over the sea, and we found the beachfront promenade delightful in the evenings.

The hotel is not as described on the web site. Yes the actual hotel is grand but that is all. The reception is stark, the staff need to offer a more friendly and welcoming customer service, and the pool is nothing like the images on the web site, we thought it must be the spa! You would expect to be able to relax in a nice bar area perhaps in the grand hotel but the only bar is on the top floor, and if you sit outside you are likely to be swooped upon by pigeons or seagulls or a waiter rushing to clear the tables to avoid any unwelcome table guests! There was no visitor information readily available and when we did ask it was like pulling teeth!! We were not told about the spa and how to get there etc, and even asking for a lunch menu was a struggle. We were not given a menu, just told that we had a choice of panini fillings, we decided on the prawn option and it turned up as a chopped shrimp? mixture in white sliced bread!! There is really very little to do in Livorno, we would definitely not return! The best bit was the wonderful family run restaurant down the road, fabulous food and fabulous customer service and always a warm welcome. Accor hotels need to do a mystery shop on this hotel to appreciate how the guests feel.

After 10 years in luxury hospitality (5 years Sofitel) myself and running an international events company, where we evaluate hotels on a daily baseis, I think I am rather well placed to evaluate properties. This is clearly a very badly managed MGallery, most likely a franchise property. The building is really amazing, but it needs a serious renovation. Sofitel/MGallery standards are unknown in this hotel, staff is poorly trained, management clearly not skilled to run this hotel.

Went here on holiday for first time with our newborn. Staff was great, provided a babybed and were very lovely to her. Rooms are pretty and beds are comfortable. Nice bathrooms, but no hairconditioner or cottontips (tip to bring your own). Breakfast is nice - nothing special, but well provided. The coffee is great - as I do expect in Italy. Unfortunately we were not welcome with the baby in the heated swimmingpool. But luckily the little one was okay with the cold water of the swimming pool on the roof. The reataurant on the rooftop is great! Very nice meals and very affordable with a great view. It's about 1500 m to the center, which is walkable but in mid summer very hot to do during the day. Parking at the hotel was sufficient!

By check-in I was told that the junior suite that I had booked (and confirmed) was not available the first night. The same evening I visited the restaurant at the 5th floor, but ending up with leaving after being left to sit and wait to be served for an extremely long time. I tried to find something outside the hotel, but being my first night in Livorno, I ended up with room service. I asked the front desk manager about room service menu, and was given a limited 24/7 menu. He could in general really try harder! Fortunately when I called the room service I was met by a very serviceminded lady that told me I could choose from the complete reataurant menu. The wine recommendation also turned out to be excellent. I think her name was Maria. So the first evening ended successfully. Next morning I went to the breakfast room, and when presenting my room number, I was told that I already had had my breakfast! Day two I finally got the type of room that was the reason for the booking. But this is definitely not a 5-star hotel level.
