« How this hotel even be associated with Accor, let alone MGallery by Sofitel »

This is one of the grand hotels of the past that has become a shadow of itself. Just so that you understand, even a door card in paper cover with MGallery on both look really battered. I'm not even starting to describe the state of other facilities. The only question we discussed in connection with the hotel is how it ever ended up on Accor network and under MGallery name. MGallery describes itself as a boutique hotel with French spirit. All other MGallery we've stayed so far confirm this description. This hotel, before becoming MGallery was in NH network (signs are still there) before they decided not to be associated with the property. We trusted Accor to do its research and preparation in choosing a location of the property and maintenance of its facilities. This experience tells us we can not do so anymore. To chose and pay for a hotel in MGallery network and end up in a barely 3-star hotel looking like Grand Hotel Budapest is something of a unique experience for us.

« Lovely Hotel with great staff »

The hotel and the room were terrific, very elegant, clean and comfortable. There is only one area I think needs improvement which is the Mascagni restaurant which was a big disappointment. If you have a dress code (long trousers) then you should employ it. Four people at different tables were wearing shorts and that did bring down the quality of the experience. Also the food was not up to the standard we have been used to while travelling in Italy. Other than that we loved the hotel.

« Nice hotel in a great location »

We only stayed one night in an upgraded room, the room itself was in need of renovation, laminate missing on most of the wardrobe doors. The bathroom was grubby and needed a good clean, the marble shower floor was cracked in many places and the shower door didn’t meet so water went everywhere. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but there was a lack of gluten for options at breakfast

The hotel was fine. I would like to see the rooms updated better, more modern. It felt old and dingy. I ate at the restaurant 3 nights, it was underwhelming and the service was not great.

Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly by your staff. In particular, both MICHELE and I believe the other fella's name was FERNANDO (or FRANCISCO) were absolutely fabulous. The room was memorable as the view overlooking the water was exceptional from the balcony. FERNANDO offered us a recommendation which was the highlight of our trip to visit Cinque Terre, more specifically to make time to see Manarola. He took time to provide us with a map and directions which was extremely helpful. We also thank Michele for taking time to contact IN CARNE to secure us a reservation. Without his assistance we would not have been able to enjoy this fabulous restaurant. We are extremely grateful for their dedication and commitment to provide quality customer service. We trust that our appreciation will be shared they are clearly deserving of recognition for their efforts. Would only mention that the shower stall was a bit challenging to keep the water inside the area. We had to contact housekeeping to have the bathroom sink unplugged as there was a drainage issue. The outside patio deck would use a cleaning but overall was respectable. Again, we are deeply appreciative of the outstanding customer service provided by these two fine individuals. Their efforts have impacted our decision to visit you facility on future visits.

« Good prestation globally but service could be improved »

Stayed with my boyfriend in a classic room for 209euro in a classic room. Globally good experience, but too expensive for the service you get. Should definitely be considered as a 4 star hotel. + amenities of the hotel are very enjoyable with the swimming pool and the restaurant on top floor with see view. Nice room with beautiful marble bathroom, good choice in the mini bar. - The hotel is very expensive, if you don't get a room with see view I don't think it really worth it. The hotel is very picky on small things which didn't make you feel in a 5 star hotel at all: the hotel doesn't provide towels at the swimming pool, no shower gel available in the showers of the pool, couldn't provide a late check out at 3pm, we could use our welcome drink only for house wine and prosecco. It is still a nice place to go, but make sure you get a room with see view and not having too much service expectation.

« Lovely stay in a beautiful hotel »

We only had a one night stay at this hotel, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming upon arrival, and offered a free drink in the roof top bar, in lieu of the room not being ready for us, a small inconvenience we didn't mind at all. The view from the top is lovely. Our room was adequate in size, with a seaview. The bathroom was big. The bed was soft and comfortable, even if it felt that it slanted down to the sides. The pillows were a little too soft for my taste. The only thing we would have liked more, was a lighter bed cover, as we were dying of heat with the heavy duvet. Breakfast was abundant, with loads of choices, and it was heaven sitting outside on the terrace whilst enjoying it. We would definitely be back here when we go to Livorno again, and then hopefully, we will have the opportunity to take advantage of the rooftop swimming pool and spa services!

Bathroom smells bad. Restaurant personnel impolite and do not recognize you when having dinner 4 nights in a row. Do not welcome is in restaurant. Nice building with great potential. Poor breakfast. Good beds and aircondition. Great view of ocean.

We loved our stay here, it was our begining of a honeymoon trip , and the employee were really really unforgettable and professionals. We had a lovely dinner and aperitivo. The suite 624 was great view, confortable room and sleeping quality.

Beautiful looking hotel and we did have a lovely view, however very disappointed with the condition of the room, there was damage to the front of the wardrobe door, fridge and coving, the skirting board had a huge gap in it, there was mould on the rim of the bath. Also i did visit the gym and the quality of the equipment was very poor, the multi use machine was unworkable, one of the cables needs replaced, only one pair of dumbbells, the was ugly boarding on one wall and dampness on two walls. During our stay did use the spa and had a massage which was excellent, the meal we had on our last night in the 5th floor restaurant was delicious and the bar staff were fantastic :-)

Warm welcome at reception. Room was lovely with a fantastic sea view. We were upgraded as members, which was excellent. It's a very elegant hotel in a really good location, if you want a long walk along the seafront, which many do. There are beach bars and restaurants along the "promenade" which have excellent food available. Breakfast was very good and plenty of variety. The only slight downside was that some of the staff were not as sharp as you'd expect and were slow even when it was not too busy. These could have been new and not fully trained but it was noticeable. Some staff were very good, especially on reception. Quality of the bedding and room was very good. We would certainly stay here again. The terrace is lovely for a drink and the menu for the restaurant looks great but the restaurant was a bit brightly lit and lacked a bit of atmosphere but it was not that busy and that could have been pat of the reason. Terrace has nice pool and sunbeds and is excellent for watching the sun set and the ships leaving the harbour in the town.

A very good quality hotel, well positioned on the seafront with good onsite (and free of charge) parking facilities. The rooms are well appointed, luxurious and well looked after, with good quality bathroom and toiletry products supplied. We arrived a little before regular check in time but that was of no issue to the reception staff and we were provided with a room promptly and efficiently. We dined in the restaurant and although on entry the meet and greet could have been better (we stood for a while awaiting someone to notice and ask us for a table, and it was all a little confusing which could have been avoided if you were greeted at the entrance) once seated the service and food quality was very good. Breakfast is served off of the main lobby and consists of the usual Italian cold buffet style but with a good selection and quality of food on offer. I would recommend and would definitely stay again if in the area.

Platinum members of LeClub AccorHotels can`t feel welcome at this property in comparition to other MGallery Hotels. Only welcome drink voucher handed out at check-in, to be honest for very poor drink, beer or wine served, not other alcohol containing drinks available. Shame for this hotel not used to be at other MGalleries. Furthermore no room upgrade even if higher room class still available for booking at the Accorhotels website. Even not any greetings card left at the room nor small gift from hotel management. Complimentary 2 bottles of water only at first night, not delivered for the second one. Really shame ! I don`t think to be ready to visit this property once again.

« Glorious memorable experience in this beautiful historic hotel. »

We had been travelling in Italy for several weeks and were looking for an interesting hotel on the west coast as we journeyed towards Siena. Reading about Livorno with its canals through the old city and the description of the Palazzo Grand Hotel, which is an Accor Sofitel, made our minds up. Expectations can lead to disappointments, but from the moment we saw the grand architecture from the street, to the beautiful formal but welcoming foyer, we could see that this hotel was something very special. Reception were efficient & friendly and we received welcome drink vouchers for the rooftop bar and terrace on the 5th floor. The white dining room, with big glass doors opening out to the pool & sun lounges provided an amazing view across the sea, and we had a prosecco while we waited for our room to be ready. ( we had arrived early) As Platinum members we were upgraded to a suite room with garden view. The room was stunning, generous in size, with a lounge, huge bedroom, and lovely marble bathroom. The bed with it's luxurious white linen was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. The interior of the hotel was in immaculate condition, and the grand breakfast rooms with Venetian chandeliers provided a culinary and visual banquet. Food spread throughout the rooms looked magnificent & tasted fantastic. There were many varieties of freshly squeezed juices, fresh local fruits including lovely Italian peaches, assortments of delicious tarts, cakes & pastries, hot foods, great coffee, even sensational panacotta with raspberry purée. This was a memorable breakfast!! If you are in this part of Italy, this hotel is not to be missed! Thanks to all the staff.

The Grand Palazzo Livorno may have been truly grand once, now it's a little faded. Cracked marble, my shower cubicle leaked so badly water flowed to the bedroom. The odours in the corridor outside my room were interesting and ever changing but never exactly pleasant. Second breakfast it took 45 minutes and asking 2 different waiting staff 3 times to FAIL to get a coffee, I think this was the low point. Recepionist tried hard but became scarily abrupt as soon as there were more than 4 people waiting at the desk. WiFi was unusable, though I was at the hotel for a tech conference and usage was probably greater than usual it should have coped. The views from the roof bar were spectacular - the wine waiter was enthusiastic and informed - and Livorno is a pretty town but the hotel and staff would benefit from a little more investment.
