No special attention in the room from the manager for a platinum guest (besides upgrade which was appreciated!). Power blackout in the whole hotel for the whole evening without any specific explanation and no appology from manager upon departure!

« Ok, but could have been better. »

I had written to the hotel in advance (months before) to ask if we could check in earlier (around 1pm) as we had booked a suite and gone to expense as it was our last night of a honeymoon trip. We arrived around 1:30 but the room was not available. We were asked to wait in the bar with a complimentary drink so it was disappointing but acceptable of course. However, we came downstairs to check on progress at 2:45 and the room was still not ready. We were offered another room but this was not a suite room I had reserved. It was 4pm when the room was ready which was a shame as we wanted to maximise the suite/view for as long as possible.

« One night stay in Livorno »

The hotel does not reflect its 5 star classification. The rooms are not properly cleaned, there is dust and cotton everywhere. On top, is not properly maintained! The door on the shower had one glass missing, the furniture is totally damaged, the floor seems from an horror movie with so many scratches. Only the location and breakfast was good. Really does not worth the price nor the 5 stars.

The hotel was old, but with charm. And, cleaning must improve. Our bedsheets were dirty upon arrival. However, when we told the staff this was sorted immediately. Breakfast was great, and overall service.

« One Day Trip to Livorno »

The hotel is situated in an amazing building overlooking the sea. The hotel is decorated nicely and it's a pleasure to be in the Reception Area. The rooms are spacious. Some of the rooms have huge windows and balconies. Our room unfortunately had just a tiny window, which made the room not that cosy. Nevertheless the view from the window was wonderful. The swimming pool on the rooftop is a great idea. The Hotel restaurant is an absolute highlight. Restaurant is situated on the roof top of the hotel. We could enjoy the great meal with an amazing view of the sunset. After such a nice evening in the restaurant we were not pleasantly surprised by the breakfast. Everything was too chaotic. There were not enough staff to keep the place clean. A lot of tables were standing full of dirty dishes and people didn't have a place to sit and were just waiting until somebody will clean the place. The food selection was also mediocre. A lot of pastries and bread and hardly any fresh fruits. Nevertheless we had a really nice stay.

« Nice hotel in special surroundings with a nice breakfast »

The hotel is nice in beautiful old palais building. The roof top pool is really nive. Also the breakfast was good. In general the stay was pleasant but as a high end hotel we would expect a higher degree of accuracy especially regarding service and needs. It is some small issues which sum up and gives a little negative impression: 1) check in was smooth but it was like a supprise that we have requested two rooms next to each other. This request was asked already at the time of booking but not met. Although, we got the room at the same corridor. Furthermore, it was a bit annoying that, we were told initially that the booking was without breakfast. This was obviously not the truth as the stay was booked as a bed and breakfast rate. The staff member at the reception said that we got free breakfast because of the Accor Gold member status. But this has nothing to do with free breakfast. All of this just gave a poor impression from the start. 2) Rooms are nice and large but they need some refurbishment. Especially the shower cabins are in need of improvement to remove some of the signs of mould in the set areas. The ammenities, however, were niver We appreaciate that you offer instant coffee in the room, but you should focus on that this is provided every day. It was not provided to none of our rooms and we had to ask for it to the staff. Additional, it would be appreciated if an iron was present in the rooms. 3) As a last comment, I need to say that the staff at the restaurant need updates on wine. We specifically asked for a glass of champagne but was served another sparkling wine which clearly was not champagne. I commented om this to the waiter and was offered the glass on the house as it turned out that it was not champagne. This mistake should not happen. Finally, some encouraging words. We were very happy that you contacted us very fast as we have forgot a mobile phone. This was very much appreciated.

This was the perfect place to stay overnight in Livorno. We had an early morning ferry so spending the night in luxurious surroundings with a lovely breakfast was the best way to deal with an early morning departure. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful and the rooms were exactly as hoped.

« How this hotel even be associated with Accor, let alone MGallery by Sofitel »

This is one of the grand hotels of the past that has become a shadow of itself. Just so that you understand, even a door card in paper cover with MGallery on both look really battered. I'm not even starting to describe the state of other facilities. The only question we discussed in connection with the hotel is how it ever ended up on Accor network and under MGallery name. MGallery describes itself as a boutique hotel with French spirit. All other MGallery we've stayed so far confirm this description. This hotel, before becoming MGallery was in NH network (signs are still there) before they decided not to be associated with the property. We trusted Accor to do its research and preparation in choosing a location of the property and maintenance of its facilities. This experience tells us we can not do so anymore. To chose and pay for a hotel in MGallery network and end up in a barely 3-star hotel looking like Grand Hotel Budapest is something of a unique experience for us.

« Lovely Hotel with great staff »

The hotel and the room were terrific, very elegant, clean and comfortable. There is only one area I think needs improvement which is the Mascagni restaurant which was a big disappointment. If you have a dress code (long trousers) then you should employ it. Four people at different tables were wearing shorts and that did bring down the quality of the experience. Also the food was not up to the standard we have been used to while travelling in Italy. Other than that we loved the hotel.

We only stayed one night in an upgraded room, the room itself was in need of renovation, laminate missing on most of the wardrobe doors. The bathroom was grubby and needed a good clean, the marble shower floor was cracked in many places and the shower door didn’t meet so water went everywhere. The staff were very friendly and helpful, but there was a lack of gluten for options at breakfast

Upon our arrival, we were greeted warmly by your staff. In particular, both MICHELE and I believe the other fella's name was FERNANDO (or FRANCISCO) were absolutely fabulous. The room was memorable as the view overlooking the water was exceptional from the balcony. FERNANDO offered us a recommendation which was the highlight of our trip to visit Cinque Terre, more specifically to make time to see Manarola. He took time to provide us with a map and directions which was extremely helpful. We also thank Michele for taking time to contact IN CARNE to secure us a reservation. Without his assistance we would not have been able to enjoy this fabulous restaurant. We are extremely grateful for their dedication and commitment to provide quality customer service. We trust that our appreciation will be shared they are clearly deserving of recognition for their efforts. Would only mention that the shower stall was a bit challenging to keep the water inside the area. We had to contact housekeeping to have the bathroom sink unplugged as there was a drainage issue. The outside patio deck would use a cleaning but overall was respectable. Again, we are deeply appreciative of the outstanding customer service provided by these two fine individuals. Their efforts have impacted our decision to visit you facility on future visits.

« Good prestation globally but service could be improved »

Stayed with my boyfriend in a classic room for 209euro in a classic room. Globally good experience, but too expensive for the service you get. Should definitely be considered as a 4 star hotel. + amenities of the hotel are very enjoyable with the swimming pool and the restaurant on top floor with see view. Nice room with beautiful marble bathroom, good choice in the mini bar. - The hotel is very expensive, if you don't get a room with see view I don't think it really worth it. The hotel is very picky on small things which didn't make you feel in a 5 star hotel at all: the hotel doesn't provide towels at the swimming pool, no shower gel available in the showers of the pool, couldn't provide a late check out at 3pm, we could use our welcome drink only for house wine and prosecco. It is still a nice place to go, but make sure you get a room with see view and not having too much service expectation.

« Lovely stay in a beautiful hotel »

We only had a one night stay at this hotel, and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming upon arrival, and offered a free drink in the roof top bar, in lieu of the room not being ready for us, a small inconvenience we didn't mind at all. The view from the top is lovely. Our room was adequate in size, with a seaview. The bathroom was big. The bed was soft and comfortable, even if it felt that it slanted down to the sides. The pillows were a little too soft for my taste. The only thing we would have liked more, was a lighter bed cover, as we were dying of heat with the heavy duvet. Breakfast was abundant, with loads of choices, and it was heaven sitting outside on the terrace whilst enjoying it. We would definitely be back here when we go to Livorno again, and then hopefully, we will have the opportunity to take advantage of the rooftop swimming pool and spa services!

Bathroom smells bad. Restaurant personnel impolite and do not recognize you when having dinner 4 nights in a row. Do not welcome is in restaurant. Nice building with great potential. Poor breakfast. Good beds and aircondition. Great view of ocean.
